The City of South Perth is a local government area in the inner southern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth about 4 kilometres south of Perth's central business district.

The Old Mill in South Perth is one of Perth’s best known landmarks. Built in 1835 and operating until 1859, the mill produced 680kg of flour per day at its peak. Since ceasing production, the mill has been used as a hotel, a residence, a wine saloon and a poultry farm. In 1992, the Old Mill was granted to the City of South Perth to commemorate the centenary of the founding of Local Government in South Perth (1892). The stone buildings and site were repaired and upgraded and were then vested in the National Trust.
Go for a bushwalk and discover koalas, quokkas, emus, kangaroos and Simmo the enormous crocodile. Explore the Asian Rainforest and experience Asian Elephants, Sumatran Tigers, Sun Bears or gibbons. Wander through the African Savannah and encounter rhinos, zebras, giraffe, a lion and meerkats. These are just some of the animals you could meet from all corners of the globe at Perth Zoo.

Good points - beds comfortable, location excellent, shower superb, outdoor table lovely, management excellent - responded to complaints in a timely manner and addressed most issues really well (thank you). Bad points - kitchen initially poorly equipped (only two dinner plates, no bottle opener, cheapest cutlery, no serving spoons, dirty oven gloves, & mouldy coffee pot which was rectified by management, bathroom - toilet seat doesn't fit, vacuum cleaner replaced as original one was inoperable, washing machine broken and also replaced when clothes were stuck in it for three days (the owner initially inferred that we had overloaded it with the six items of clothing we had put in it), lounge suit, curtains and cushions were dirty and management said that this would be addressed before the next booking, fifth seat was bean bag, which required new beans to be operable (management also rectified), dining table and chair covers were dirty (again, management agreed with us and rectified the situation)... The set-up is okay for a group of four but not really suitable for six. I reiterate that management were responsive to our complaints, but it was unfortunate that the items were not previously addressed by the owner (see previous complaints online), as it would have made for a much better stay - as it was, addressing the issues (including time required to meet with management, dealing with the installation of the new washing machine etc) significantly impacted on our holiday. There was also the issue of the owner entering the property to 'reset the washing machine' without our prior knowledge or agreement (we were out at the time). Similarly, one morning we found two people entering the property who stated that they were not aware that the property was currently occupied... In summary, the property has huge potential, which is let down by it's presentation & clear lack of care by the owner as to the occupant's holiday experience.

Handy spot for a short stay in South Perth
We found the two-storey townhouse clean and well presented. Easy check-in with the key in a lock box. Single off-street parking spot. The location is good for South Perth foreshore and Optus Stadium. It suited our needs well.
