This was a peaceful and private location with a view of the river. Amazing sunrise view every morning from the kitchen table. Really enjoyed our stay. Mark was a great host.
Perfect winter getaway! Felt right at home as soon as we got there. The cottage is lovely and has everything you need. The property is peaceful and so gorgeous with the river as your background. We saw lots of wildlife, including a few awesome bald eagle sightings, and had a great time exploring the property. Spent the nights cozied up reading by the wood stove, it was perfection! Mark is an excellent host and we hope to be back soon!
The place is very nice, it is very cozy. The view from the cottage is amazing. Our pets were very happy to run all over the place.
We just stay for a couple of days, but would be nice for a larger stay next time.
We stayed here last year, and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surrounding property so much, we came back again this year. The wrap around deck was fantastic for enjoying the day. Lots of movies and books to entertain you on a rainy day, and the cottage is rustic, but has everything you need. Mark is a fantastic host, keeping you updated on the area before your stay, and check in with you once you arrive to make sure you have everything you need. We will be back again next year for sure!
The whole week was perfect. We loved our walks. The cabin was great. It had everything you would ever need for the week. Mark was a great host. We would love to rent it again.
We enjoyed our short stay at Mark’s cabin. The property is vast and gorgeous. We had fun exploring with the kids and did day trips to the beaches in South Hampton and Sauble. The cabin has a beautiful deck with an amazing view. The book collection is impressive. I only had time to read a few short stories, but a reader with more down time would be in heaven.
We had a great stay! The place is on a beautiful property. The cottage had everything we needed. We did some snowshoeing and exploring of the trails and saw tons of turkeys. Mark was great — super helpful and responsive. He was proactive before we arrived and made sure we understood how to access the property.
If you’re looking for a quiet, secluded spot with gorgeous scenery, and are comfortable living with the basics I’d highly recommend this place.
An extremely peaceful and comfortable stay at a beautiful property with every ammenity to make your stay carefree.
Mark has put a lot of love and work into making this a welcoming place, and it shows. The library has a wide and wonderful collection and the photo album is a beautiful touch.
Communication is a breeze and Mark is a caring and receptive host who ensures that your stay is perfect!
Thank you Mark, for sharing your piece of heaven on Earth, can't wait to come back!
We were looking for a quiet getaway to relax and enjoy the outdoors, and Riverview was the perfect place. We enjoyed hiking on the 85 acre property, with lots of little hidden gems to find. Afterwards, a relaxing time on the beautiful wrap-around deck and a barbecue. The location is secluded, but close enough to get to the beaches and other towns within 20 minutes. Mark was a fantastic host, checking with us throughout our stay to make sure we found everything we needed, and answered all of our questions within minutes. A fantastic place that we will need to visit again throughout the different seasons!

Thanks Mark! Very kind review. Glad you enjoyed exploring the property. Thanks for staying at Paisley Riverview. We hope to have you back in the future!
This cabin felt like home the moment we stepped in. The personal stories and touches make things feel that much more welcoming. The book collection and dvd collection is amazing. There are fun games, things to do, entertainment inside and out. The property is nothing short of stunning. The sunrise, the wildlife, the river and views all around. The trail system is so well laid out. So much to explore. Mark is fantastic and readily available with any questions or suggestions. We would highly recommend, and plan on booking again and again. It's a must see in every season! Thanks again, beyond grateful we found this place!
Stayed here for a few days in the summer. Close drive (20min) to Port Elgin beach. Very quiet and secluded. Only thing is that it runs on well water and the well ran dry so we didn’t have any water for a few days.

I’m happy to report, the old well has been replaced with a new fancy drilled well. Softened water with a UV filter.
The owner is in the process of upgrades, but it met our needs, providing a cozy getaway from the city while still being close to towns.
We explored the property on foot and bike, swam (not alone for safety as the river flows quite strongly at times) enjoyed fires at night and explored beaches and towns within short driving/riding distance.
For those who value nature, a host who is responsive but not intrusive, and want to explore - We highly recommend!!!
Riverview is ab excellent cottage for the family. Peace, serenity and privacy. Mark is an excellent host, responsive and super helpful. Also a book lovers paradise. Maek has a collection of hundreds of books (no repeats). Tons of fun for all
we really enjoyed our time at riverview. it was so peaceful, a lovely escape from the city. we were able to roam in mature, with plants and trees surrounding us, and the background of the river. the place had everything we needed, it felt cozy with the wood floors and the Canadiana inside and Mark was great at staying in contact, and providing detailed information so we didn't get lost.
We had a great stay on Mark’s property. He gave us all information we needed and was very easy to get ahold of. The cottage itself was nice and comfortable. There were some bugs/spiderwebs in the cottage, but that was very much expected. We were able to do some clay bird shooting in a nearby field on the property and fishing in the river. We enjoyed watching all the crayfish in the river.
Some suggestions that would improve the property:
- Clearing out some trees to get a better view of the river from the cottage.
- Making a trail and a landing of some sort by the river to get down more easily (we placed chairs in the water).
We will definitely be back!

I have created stone steps and a dock for the summer months. Thanks for the suggestion!!
If you are looking for a secluded, quiet holiday this is the place! There are many places to sit and read or relax. It's right on the river with hiking and biking trails very close by. And it has a huge firepit! We had an amazing time and hope to go again very soon!
My father bought this property in 1987. The cabin had just been built but still needed interior walls.
He died in 2000 and I have recently made the property my own when I'm in Canada.
There is 85-acres of property. It's a 15-minute walk to the mailbox—25mins in the winter with snowshoes!
It's country living, so it's rough around the edges in some ways. Bring your rain boots.
Why they chose this property
If you want solitude—or extreme social distancing—this is the place for you! There are a number of spots on the property where there are no signs of anyone else.
What makes this property unique
The Saugeen River runs along the property. If you like kayaking or canoeing or fishing... you'll feel at home.
If you want to hike or bike, the Brant Tract trails are our neighbour to the south.
If you want a place to hibernate for the winter, look no further.
