Two Bedroom Cottage Tucked In The Woods of Cashiers, NC - Forest Cottage

Located conveniently between Cashiers and Glenville with easy access from Hwy 107, this 3 level, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom cottage is nestled in the quiet mountain woods. On the main level, the kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, Keurig and traditional coffee makers, and seating at the bar; the dining area seats 6. Relax in the living room watching TV with an expanded DirecTV package or enjoying the wood burning fireplace. There is a half bathroom on the main level. From the dining area, access the screened back porch which includes an outdoor dining table, comfortable seating, and a large Big Green Egg for grilling. Up the stairs to the loft above the main level, you will find the first bedroom with a king bed, large TV with DirecTV, a walk-in closet, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Down the stairs to the lower level is the second bedroom with a king bed (also with DirecTV), closet, and a full bathroom with dual sinks and a walk-in shower. The lower level also hosts a second living area with TV with DirecTV and a sleeper sofa. The laundry room is located on the lower level. A lower patio with lounge chairs is accessible from both the lower level living area and bedroom; the lower patio and a portion of the backyard are fenced in to accommodate four-legged guests (HOA rules do not allow them to be left unattended outside).

Your reservation includes a damage protection plan. The damage protection plan is $40, and it covers up to $500 in damages. In lieu of purchasing the damage protection plan, guests have the option to choose a refundable security deposit. If you would like to pay a refundable security deposit, please contact us. The security deposit is $500 and will be administered subject to the NC Tenant Security Deposit Act.

Too many issues with this one.
Property was not thoroughly cleaned upon arrival. The climate control system was inoperable for our entire stay. The first three days were intolerable due to freezing air being piped into the cabin, with the internal temp being 55 degrees. The person they sent to fix it did not have the proper equipment and was unvaccinated. On the plus side, the cabin was cute, the furnishings were tastedul, it was well equipped for cooking, and the property manager tried to be responsive. Too many items were not repaired, such as no seal on the shower doors, so that the bathroom floors got soaking wet when you took a snower. The downstairs, where the master bedroom is, smelled musty. The front storm door did not close properly and a snake got into the cabin.

Great stay! Home is well equipped with every essential you could need. Home is three levels with two patios, one is screened. Located close to Cashiers, very convenient to get around. Outside of the home was not very well maintained, air conditioner was not working upon arrival, Landmark was able to get service out following day.

Anniversary weekend
Great Anniversary weekend. We were surprised by our 4 grown daughters! They not only came, but made the meals and waited on us, hand and foot! My only request to the online photos and descriptions is to be more specific about the stairs. One either goes down stairs to main bedroom or climbs up stairs to the loft bedroom. I am somewhat limited with mobility, so stairs were more challenging.

My spouse and I picked up our "welcome packet" from Landmark (Entry/Wifi directions, ground coffee, Real Estate brochure) and we (plus our dog) found the property quite easily up a meandering one-way road. Our first impressions were 'love it'. It has all the described amenities and seemingly all the necessary accouterments. Great location for hiking (our focus) and several nice places to eat close by (Cashiers (Pronounced "Cashers" by locals they say), Highlands, Sapphire, etc.)). One concern was no rail around the lower deck. It's only about a 3 foot drop-off but kids especially could get hurt. As the previous review indicates, there are cameras on site. This, I feel, should be clearly identified in the textual description (not just pictures) of the property. I was not a fan and covered them. The only complaint was the first floor shower did not drain well at all, although we did not officially report this (forgot on our way out). The weather was cold and we had several fires (The local hardware and Ingles sells wood). The flu was open but the house still got very smoky?!? The first floor bed was very comfy and Direct TV was great! We even bundled up and enjoyed time on the back deck, which is screened in. Loved the starlight simulated ceiling! Great sunset spot. We looked forward to our home away from home after each day of exploring. Thank you for sharing it!
