Our family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids, and our doggie) loved our weekend at the Bird Sanctuary! The house is so cute, tucked away in the woods but yet close to town. It's easy to get to, as described, and everything is provided (linens, soap, shampoo, paper products, even basic kitchen spices!). We enjoyed exploring the woods around the house and we also played many of the provided board games. Host is super nice and very responsive. We'll be back!
Our family really enjoyed this secluded, tranquil cabin in the woods. We particularly enjoyed the deep front porch, which sheltered us even in the rain to be able to enjoy the beautiful wooded wonderland. The firepit was a huge hit, and we spent most evenings grilling and enjoying the porch and fire pit. The Wifi is outstanding, and our family members were able to stay connected for work and entertainment. Even with no cell signal, we switched our phoned to wifi calling and stayed connected that way. Our vehicles are front-wheel drive small SUVs, and we had no trouble accessing the cabin during our August stay. It's just a short 10 minute drive to New Market Center in Boone, and downtown was only another 5 minutes. The hosts were very welcoming and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at this property because we were looking to unwind and bond, but it was quite rustic. The add said the house had AC, but it did not have central air - just window units in the bedroom. Fortunately it was cool and their was no humidity so this sufficed. Also, the wifi and phone service was completely knocked out for 4 out of our 5 days. This was not the home owner's fault though. They immediately called their provider who came out and informed us that some other service provider had been digging in the area and had cut their lines. They worked on it for a day, but the service was never restored. We managed, but had to get creative on how to stay entertained in the evenings. We made smores on the firepit, played games stored there, and rocked on the front porch. Overall, it was a beautiful setting and relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was peaceful, quite & secluded but less than 15 minutes to everything. Kitchen was well equipped with everything from pot & pans to silverware. We had 2 vehicles but could have easily parked 2 or 3 more.
This was our first visit to NC & this cabin was absolutely perfect! It just screams North Carolina! It is super secluded (which we wanted), plenty of room for the dog to run, cool outdoor fire pit with a hammock (so relaxing), and totally private yet a quick drive to town. We can’t say enough about this cabin! Going up the driveway in the Jeep was all part of the charm! FYI bon’t show up in a BMW. Living in NY, I never saw a hummingbird, here at the cabin we saw countless hummingbirds! Comfy beds, big screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, strong WiFi (hugely important) & the coolest most charming cabin furniture. 1 important thing to know: do not leave the cabin without putting your designation in the GPS. Otherwise you’ll be back to do it using the cabin’s WiFi bc once you leave, phone service is gone. Lastly, I think the best part about this cabin is the owner. The nicest, kindest, most thoughtful human I’ve met in a long time. True southern hospitality. We throughly enjoyed our stay & will absolutely return for a longer stay!

We just returned from a wonderful visit to this cozy cabin. It was a perfect place for us to stay. It is secluded yet close to everything in Boone. We loved the fire pit, the front porch, the cleanliness and comfort of the cabin, and the superb communication by the owner. We will return!
Cabin was tucked away in the woods and was so cozy and great for our family weekend in the snow! The host is so great to talk with and I highly recommend. We will be back!
The property is everything it is advertised as. Sweet little cabin in the woods with all the comforts of home. It was a little past peak leaf season, but still plenty of beautiful colors to be seen. Great place to bring a dog - lots of room to run and neighbors are quite a bit away. The homeowner’s son reached out to welcome us on the first day and thank us for visiting on the last. The little personal touches make you feel like a family friend being welcomed. Next time I’ll have to book for longer!
