FIVE OF US STAYED AT THE Bittersweet Lakefront Retreat' w/ Boat Slip AND found the home to be very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The views and access to the lake was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great memories

Property was great! We had such a good time & the owners were very nice & communication was amazing! My teens had a great time on the dock swimming & fishing and the boat slip was perfect for the pontoons we rented.

What a place!

If you are looking for a place to enjoy the lake, THIS IS IT! The hosts are very accommodating. The house is beautifully cared for. The property is amazing and the view from the decks are awesome. House has all the cookware, spices, and condiments, along with bbq pits for you use. Good fishing from the dock. Just a great place to stay! I highly recommend this property and plan to return again.

Wonderful lake house

Spent a full week lounging and relaxing with just my lovely cat, Spence in this comfortable retreat. It was the start of the season and none of the neighboring houses had tenants and the lake was pretty peaceful with just the occasional motorboat or jet ski zooming by.

Charming lakeside home

Stayed a whole week with my pet. It was the start of the season so all the neighboring houses were empty and the lake was pretty quiet and free of speedboats. Enjoyed the sun and peace and quiet. House has a terrific view in the front parlor and martini deck.

Bittersweet memories great

Better looking than photos. If bring boat lake rough where you dock it. We swam used lily pad and cooked due to well stocked kitchen. Owner left water coffee and treats so nice. Lovely home

BEST Vrbo experience yet!

This vacation rental will not disappoint, you get everything you see and more on this listing! My family and I traveled to Missouri for the Thanksgiving holiday, and we felt at home as soon as we stepped foot on the property! The home is well kept, along with the outdoor amenities available. We came during off season, but this place is location location!! I never leave reviews, but had to for this one, the best Vrbo experience my family and I have had yet! You will enjoy your experience, and the owners! Will defiantly return!

Wow

What a great property! The house was clean and cozy. The decks overlooking the lake provides spectacular views of the main channel. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, spices, and condiments. The dock is loaded with fishing gear for your use. Overall it was a fantastic time for our family. The host was very communicative and interested in providing us with everything we needed for a great trip. Would and will highly recommend this property. Not a question of if we will be back, but when. Hopefully soon!

3rd Time at BLR

This was my third visit to the lake house and also the first one at peak season. They altered some of the bedroom layouts upstairs which added a lot of appeal to the place. I'd never stayed here during the summer months, usually spring or early fall, and boy were the line of motorboats plentiful running up and down the lake out here. It almost felt like I was living next to a highway. Other than the new upstairs bedroom redesign, the place looks about the same from last year.I enjoyed my stay greatly, but if you want to enjoy the lakeview when it's natural and calm, I'd suggest avoiding the summer months.

The Best Lake Property!

I am hesitant to post this as the best lake property as I don't want this spot to become too popular and make it harder for me to book again lol! Every year a group of us girls take a trip to the Lake and this was BY FAR the best house we have stayed at. Once we have our dates decided for next summer, this will be the place I look to book. It was SO CLEAN, and the attention to detail was impressive. It is the small personal touches that made the stay feel like staying at a home and not just a rental property. This is a silly thing to notice, but man does it make a HUGE difference- everything is labeled! Light switches are labeled, speakers, etc. making it so easy to figure out how to turn things on and off without having to aimlessly walk around the home flipping lots of switches. David was very communicative before, and during our stay. There were a total of eight adults and we did not feel cramped or crowded. Beds were comfortable, plenty of condiments/spices, dock was gorgeous to spend mornings chatting and looking at the lake, overall it was just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely lake house with this group of girls!

The second we pulled up to the drive, every bit of needing a vacation instantly melted away. Even from the back, we felt welcomed. You could already see the personalized care of the property. Giddy like kids, we gushed about the deck - plenty of chairs and charm. Being the doting corgi mom, I immediacy noticed the dog (and kid) gate on the deck, so there wouldn’t be any freedom run to the water. The conveniently placed doggy clean up bags, w/o needing to always have one in pocket. The zip tie trick I’m now using home. Walking inside was odd. Good odd. The best way to explain… did you have a friend’s house growing up that felt like home too? You felt so comfortable there, it was more than “a friend’s house” it kinda felt like your own home too… That’s what we felt like here. Every comfort of home was intuitively already there. My husband didn’t want to stop at the grocery store before we left. He thought there’d be no way the kitchen would be equipped with real cooking pans or utensils. At best, it may have a $1 store pot and skillet. One spatula, with $2 silverware set. He thought we’d have to pack or buy every seasoning/condiment, and didn’t want to mess with it. Within 5 mins of arrival, he wanted to go back out to the grocery store. He’s the cook in our family, and thrilled there was “real kitchen stuff”. We stayed in to cook for all but one meal. And now wants an Air Fryer thanks to this kitchen. 🙃 Hook your phone up for music anywhere in the house. On the deck or dock. Don’t bring floats. They’re already ready. Any size, all inflated. Don’t bring towels. Plenty of good ones for being out in the lake, and soft ones for the shower. All bedrooms have real beds. Not tin frames I’ve read about in other rental reviews. Comfortable like you have at home. Even though it was just two of us, having plenty of bathroom space was so nice. We brought our own soap, shampoo and conditioner. Didn’t need it. We forgot toothpaste, it was there. My husband is not a raver. He raved about our stay. The area, the proximity of restaurants and grocery store. We both loved the ease of comfort of every inch of the property. We agreed this spot would be “our spot” to come to every year. The owners. Wow. So welcoming. I loved their pet welcome too. Instant communication with any question we had. Even via text, they felt like friends, happy to share their home. Thank you so much! Jack & Shannon And Mali the corgi girl.

Home away from home and then some

Perfect get away!! Location was perfect. The house was perfectly described. Waking up to the lake and a cup of coffee was exactly what we needed. Grilled each night for dinner and watched the sunset. We look forward to our next stay there.

Gorgeous views!

Gorgeous views of the lake and wonderful location close to restaurants and bars. This house has everything you could need from kitchen supplies, tons of towels, extra pillows, and fans. Very clean. The owner is extremely accommodating and great with communication. The outdoor seating is abundant. We enjoyed swimming right off the dock on a floatie (riding the waves when the water of the main channel was choppy). We cannot wait to visit again!

Wonderful Water View & Pet Friendly

Our first time in the area and stayed in mid-June. We chose this place because it was pet friendly and being totally remodeled was a huge plus but we honestly spent most of our time outside relaxing on the multiple decks, getting some sun (or shade) on the many dock lounge chairs, or having fun in the water. The private owner has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and it shows (gas grill, gas griddle, outside Bluetooth speakers, complete outdoor lighting, outside cooler, full fishing supplies, floatables, fire pit, lawn games etc. Yes you are on the main channel and the water is busier but we enjoyed watching the wide variety of boats go by. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the dock when everything was quiet and only a few fishermen were on the water. Since we only had 4 people we rented a 22 ft fishing pontoon close by from Alhonna Resort (they rent all-size pontoons from 2 hrs to all day). Our Tuesday boat rental was perfect for avoiding the busier 4-day weekend traffic Fri-Mon. A wonderful vacation and it was nice to communicate with the owner directly after the reservation to prepare for our stay.

This is the perfect spot for your lake trip. Location, location, location! The beautiful home is secluded and feels very private. Spend a quiet, relaxing day on your dock and patios, or walk up the road for a more exciting, popular atmosphere at pools/bars/restaurants! David is amazing to work with, very friendly and helpful. We loved grilling on the Blackstone and eating at home! Perfect spot to unplug and spend time with your loved ones. We will be back!!

Truly Wonderful!!

My husband & I (and our Mini-Doodle, Bella) had such a wonderful time.. truly hard to put into words just how very special this place is!! The views!! The beautiful decor!! The complimentary bottle of wine!! And... and ... and!! They truly have thought of everything!! My husband & I spent the majority of our time fishing on the dock and taking in the gorgeous views... we loved every moment of our time there and plan to re-visit again soon!!

The manager was very responsive and on top of everything to make sure we were comfortable. . It was right on the lake and wonderful for fishing. We enjoyed our stay and will use the property anytime we go down to the lake.

VIEW!

Upon arriving, the owners had a welcoming two bottles of wine on the island. I thought that was super nice. The first thing I did was open all the blinds. Magnificent views! Views of the lake through every window! The beds were comfortable. This house was extremely clean and had everything you would need in a kitchen. We came with our Daughter/husband and grandkids for thanksgiving weekend. Our intention was to fish. We brought our own poles, so I didn't even look if any were provided. We caught Catfish, Blue gill, and Bass. If was nice having an out door fire(pit) while playing corn hole and enjoying the views. We also enjoyed the martini deck and bet it would be a lot of fun to "boat watch" in the summer from that spot! We sat with a fire and watched a couple very beautiful sunsets. This house had a private dock. Walking distance to two popular restaurants.

Everything you want for a relaxing retreat! Beautiful view of the lake with a double deck for our outdoor relaxing days and evenings. Just the getaway we needed! Inside is decorated wonderfully. Beds are very comfortable and everything was very clean! Would recommend to my family and friends!

Bittersweet Lakeside Retreat is a cozy getaway with the perfect recipe for fun and relaxation. The home had everything we needed including million dollar views from every room of the house. Tastefully decorated with all the comforts of home. We spent hours on the upper deck enjoying the beauty and activity of the lake.We can’t wait to return to our little piece of heaven! Wonderful Getaway

Bittersweet Lakeside Retreat was definitely a treat! This home offers a warm and cozy getaway that’s so welcoming! The decks provided a wonderful spot to read and be entertained by boats passing by. The house was very clean and well taken care of. I will happily recommend this home to anyone interested in visiting the lake. I can’t wait to come back very soon! 😊
