About this property

Cape Otway Homestead

The Cape Otway Homestead is home among the Otway National Park treetops with unparalleled 180-degree views of the Otways and the Aire River valley. See wedge-tailed eagles hover outside the huge picturesque windows or relax on the deck and admire the sunset over the Aire River sand dunes. Discover wallabies, koalas and birdlife right outside the door or journey through the homestead grounds to explore gorgeous native vegetation, veggie patch, or mushroom forage. Take a journey to the inlet, a 2-minute drive down to the Aire River Campsite, especially magically if you take the Great Ocean Walk path down the main beach. Once there enjoy a swim, kayak, sandboarding, or relax on your own private beach. You'll be amazed how picturesque and secluded it is - a perfectly kept secret.

This luxury hilltop four-bedroom plus garden room home will sleep up to 12 people. All of the bedrooms have amazing views and King sized beds, with the exception of the garden room. The master bedroom features a large corner bath and a double-sided wood fireplace. The private studio also offers a King-sized bed, Wood Fire, bath and a small but fully equipped kitchen.

The high vaulted ceilings of the spacious living area are complemented by panoramic views and natural light through huge picture windows. The beautifully coloured Grampians sandstone walls, a testament to the ancient craft of stonemasonry, complement a double-sided Wood Fire and Karri floors throughout the house.

A secluded and sheltered courtyard features beautiful sandstone walls and a lovely cottage garden, whilst spacious decking spans the entire front of the house, with outdoor furniture to relax and admire the view.

We had a wonderful 3 nights, very nice property indeed, incredible views from each room. Well appointed property, peaceful and quite. The local wildlife was to topup our stay, watching a koala at the back garden munching first thing at the morning was amazing. Kids loved the fire pit the view was to die for. Thanks to the generous host Jacqueline for a great service and fast communications. You have a great property indeed, diffentley recommended and we can't wait to visit back again.

What an incredible place
We came to Great Ocean Road to do a few days outside the city while visiitng from the US, and what an amazing place we found. Gorgeous views with breathtaking sunsets and lots of quiet. We even found a Koala climbing a tree! Very easy and clear communication from the owners and lots of space. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful country home with stunning views
House was spacious to accommodate 3 familes. The highlight of the stay was the kids get to light the campfire every night. It felt like glamping! It was cozy although the place do need a bit of upgrade such as the bathrooms and furniture. Jacqueline, the host, was very helpful and quick to respond to any enquiries. To have a meal on the deck over looking the country landscape was spectacular.

Hi. My name is Jacqueline, the host of the Guest House at The Dunes Homestead. My husband and I stumbled across the homestead at the beginning of the year and decided to purchase it to bring it back to its former glory. We fell in love with the golden hour views and the way the Grampian stonework shines around the entire homestead. We think its a pretty magical spot.

We hope you enjoy it too.
