Sitting on the deck the view of the treetops & mountains is magnetic. The name Whispering Pines came about from the sounds the trees make as the breeze flows though them. From the top deck you can see all the way to the mountains & the color of the ridge changes during different times of the day. It’s so relaxing to sit with a glass of wine or cup of coffee & just stare into it like a painting. From the lower deck, it’s the perfect place to be able to work remotely with the beautiful scenery around you. From the large newly remodeled light & bright kitchen the sliding door opens to the same views. There is a large gathering area & a fireplace in the same space creating that highly sought after open concept feeling where friends & family can gather while creating a gourmet meal. The sleeping spaces are spacious with comfy beds - combined with peace & quiet it’s perfect for catching up & regenerating away from the hustle bustle of daily life. The bunk bed room has it’s own TV. The Master Suite with King Size bed, Smart TV, & full bathroom are Downstairs offering privacy. The game room/second living area provides great options.. There is an authentic full length wooden shuffle board, along with an incredibly large Smart TV, or you can enjoy your favorite book in the oversized chair by the fireplace. This is a great space to reconnect with family & friends while having your own space to retreat to & find solitude. To make this property affordable and reasonable for couples there is an extra guest fee of $12 after 2 people.

We rent a lot in Big Bear / Lake Arrowhead and this is practically the first time we had a cabin where the heating works quickly and well. =) The house was clean and had everything we needed. The view of the trees with red and orange leaves was beautiful. We're glad we went at this time of year when it was not too cold to go on hikes.
We all needed to get out of town and escape to the mountains. Our kids thrived in the cabin. We loved how everything was there for us. We absolutely created long lasting memories!
We found this place last minute when we saw the snow forecast for the weekend and it was perfect! Host was very accommodating to special requests and the place is clean, cozy and perfectly located! Will come back!
Very happy with our stay, my family and I are looking forward to staying here again. Very clean home with a beautiful view from the balcony.
The home has everything you need and more. My kids enjoyed the board games that were available. Highly recommend this home.
This is our 2nd stay here. We came for a weekend getaway with our three boys. The cabin is outfitted with lots of boardgames and even a shuffleboard. All furniture is clean and comfy. In a residential neighborhood where everything is kept neat and tidy. Good views from the decks, nice area to take walks if you have pets. Restaurants and shops are with 10 minutes of driving, probably less.
This was a wonderful getaway! The home was extremely clean, thoughtfully and well appointed with every kitchen convenience needed. Having two stories afforded my sister and I adequate personal space and communal areas to decompress. The back stairway has a couple wobbly treads, but can be easily navigated with caution and using the hand rails. The home is located in a peaceful quiet neighborhood. We loved having a fireplace on each level!
We very much enjoyed our stay!
We rented for the location to other family that lived on Arbon Lane. The location was the priority but pleasantly pleased with the property. Plenty of room for the 5 adults and the shuffle board was great entertainment on our down time. We also had 2 dogs with us and they were right at home. Easy non contact access to the house and very responsive management of the property. I highly recommend to stay here for relaxation, the 2 decks were great for morning coffee with views of the tree tops.

Be wary of back stairs
My husband and I both fell using the back stairs on separate occasions. We were in contact with someone in the management office who ghosted us and then when we tried to obtain a refund through vbro, they said it was a third-party and they could not assist us (so much for being owner-owned and operated). In any case, we just want everyone to be careful of using the back stairs. They are dangerous (read Mark V's reviews) and we were lucky to only have some bruising and sore muscles and not broken bones.
We loved staying at this property! The view from the deck and the sounds of birds were amazing. The game table and the large living room downstairs were fun for the family to hang out with. We saw so many squirrels in the trees, some of which ran along the railings just in front of us. Overall, would highly recommend this property.
We loved everything about our stay! The furniture and appliances were well thought out, useful, and comfy! Communication was easy and prompt! The location was amazing -- views of the tree tops and only 10 minutes from Lake Arrowhead Village! Our 4 and 6 year old were in heaven with Disney+, shuffleboard, and bunk beds. We'd love to plan another trip and stay again soon! Thanks so much!
Our family of four had a great stay at this lake arrowhead property. It was dog friendly, and we just brought a travel folding gate to block off the parts of the house that we wanted the dogs to stsy in. The location was nice and the views were good. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very nice.
Our family stayed here during the first week of January 2023. Weather was a little rough, but we did get snow the first night, and saw some pretty fierce winds and rain throughout the rest of our stay. This is a great little cabin especially if you get stuck indoors for a while. The shuffleboard was a great addition and kept our little ones occupied for hours. They are stocked with boardgames which are fun and appropriate games for all ages. All the furniture was very comfy, and they are stocked with more than enough warm blankets, though the heater works very well. The views from the decks are nice, and convenient for our pets to go outside to take care of business. The kitchen is very well stocked and we are in a place were access to local stores is close enough to be able to cook all of our meals each day we stayed. Would definitely reserve again!
The property was well maintained and had everything we needed for a long weekend stay. Nice peaceful location off the main road with great forest views.
Nice little getaway in a very nice neighborhood. Loved the home decor and amenities. It was clean and beds were very comfortable. Lots of games and puzzles, which we used! Would definitely stay there again!

Good Location, Views but Overall Disappointing
When we arrived at the house, our immediate impression was “meh.” The pictures make the parking area/bridge look a lot larger. The bridge itself has many wooden planks that are badly worn, soft, and give when stepped on. The adjoining pavement is uneven. The screen door looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years or simply needs replacement. There are thick cobwebs at nearly every window. The interior of the house is also a lot smaller than it appeared, but also looks shabby. Scratched wooden walls everywhere and literally less than 3 feet from the front door there is a steep wooden staircase to downstairs.
This staircase is very steep and narrow and made of slippery wood and not up to code. The smallest/youngest of our two dogs started exploring and fell all the way down those slippery stairs within the first two minutes of our being in the house. My larger, senior dog could not possibly ever make it up or down those stairs. My senior mother also struggled. I believe that this staircase either needs to be brought up to code or CLEARLY disclosed and/or pictured.
The other major inconvenience was the temperature. When we arrived it was EIGHTY FIVE(!) degrees inside, although it was only 81 outside. The owners might consider black out/insulated blinds to block the heat and light and probably portable AC units for the bedrooms at least.
There were myriad other small issues, some of which we reported the first day, but the property manager never responded. The ceiling seems to be deteriorating or there are termites because we would wake up to wooden dust on the kitchen counters every morning.
There are also (at least) two undisclosed surveillance cameras on the property (driveway and side of house) and round monitoring devices of some kind above the two patio slider doors. The undisclosed devices are a violation of VRBO’s policy.
That all said, the kitchen is well stocked and is a nice remodel. We found most of the kitchenware we needed and cooked most meals at home. The bedding was generally comfortable. The decor is sparse but tasteful. This could be a wonderful home with a better vacation rental company managing it and a significant number of exterior repairs as well as other enhancements mentioned above.
