We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Art Deco home. The location is absolutely perfect and completely walkable. Cable car, Museum, Cuba st, restaurants, shopping, etc. are all walking distance.
If Art Deco is your thing, THIS is the place to stay in Wellington!
The apartment was beautifully in keeping with the art deco building within which it is located. The furnishings were lovely, and the kitchen well equipped. The location was also very good, with many sites of tourist interest close by and excellent bus services just outside.
The place is pretty nice, the location is incomparable, the communication was excellent but when we arrived there was a really strong body odor in the flat. We opened all the windows and remove the bed covers, and the odor _mostly_ went away; we think the bed covers/duvet need a good wash.
Prudence has such a personality that we completely fell in love with. The apartment was exactly as described and completely met our needs. It is true that there is no microwave and only Netflix (no cable / satellite channels) but that communicated clearly in the listing and had no bearing on our enjoyment. We 100% enjoyed staying here.
The apartment is centrally located with easy walks to literally everything. We are glad we met the Grand Dame Prudence and hope to come visit her again in the future.
“Prudence” is walking distance to Te Papa, the waterfront, the cable car and the observatory, with retail shopping right at it’s doorstep. There are also a couple of supermarkets nearby, and plenty of places to buy food and coffee. We used the coffee machine a lot, and the kitchen was well equipped, although a microwave would have been handy. The decor is as cool as it looks in the advert, and was a fun place to stay. The only downside was there was no parking right at the property, but we were made aware of this and given plenty of options which worked out fine. Taimi was great to deal with.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, we agree a microwave would be perfect, we just cant find the space to put it! I hope we can welcome you back when you're next in Wellington!
Prudence is a lovely property. The bedrooms are comfortable and there is plenty of room. The kitchen is suitable for making small meals and there was a lovely welcome basket left by our hosts. The washing machine worked well and there was a dryer too - something that wasn't common in our other holiday rentals in New Zealand. There was plenty of water pressure and lots of hot water. The decor was interesting and unique and the building is a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture. The location couldn't be better - a few minutes walk to parliament and all the major attractions. We just parked the car and were able to walk to everything during our entire stay. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.
A great space for a stay in Wellington! Literally a 4 min walk to TSB arena or the cable cars, 10 min to Te Papa or Cuba St, great shopping right outside the door, and if needed, car parking is a short walk away at Clifton Carpark, accessible via a lift at Capital on the Quay up to The Terrace, then crossing the road.
Prudence herself is a 2 bedroom, self-contained art-deco style apartment, equipped with everything you need for a comfy stay. 5 of us stayed - 2 adults, 2 quite large teenage boys, and an almost teen, and even then, Prudence didn't feel cramped. With the addition of a couple of blow up beds, everyone had a bed, and despite Prudence's central location, a good night's sleep, as there is very little street noise. It's possible it might get a bit cold in winter with older window fittings, but there is heating available throughout the apartment to address this. As it was we had no need for heating during our stay in mid-October. We would definitely return if planning another visit to Wellington.
We had a fabulous stay , location could not have been better and accommodation was excellent, everything you wanted and a bit more
Thanks for a wonderful weekend

About the host

"Prudence" is run by The Allan Whānau - a family that loves having foodie travel adventures together. Between us we work in health, education and the film industry and Prudence is our Wellington Home away from Home that we are at half the time for work, and we'd love to share with you the other half.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the Art Deco history of the building and lovingly restored Prudence in keeping with the 1920's and 30's - we hope you enjoy her charms as much as we do!
What makes this property unique
The building is in the heart of the main shopping strip - 5-10 mins walk from everything from the Cable-Car, The Beehive and the botanic gardens to the waterfront and iconic Te Papa Museum
