About this property

Beautiful rural house close to beach and amenities

Our house is a unique design with a Japanese flavour situated in a large garden of spray free vegetables, fruit and native trees. From our top bedroom there are peeks of the sea at beautiful Wharekaho Beach just 3 minutes walk away, while behind us is rolling farmland, home to a few friendly cows which sometimes roam the paddock across the fence. We have an open plan living room and kitchen which open onto decks on both sides where we often have breakfasts and barbeques. Guests are welcome to share vegetables from our well cared for garden. Your hosts Ross and Sumi will be in a caravan in a corner of the property and might sometimes need to maintain the property eg mow lawns etc. Please note that the upstairs bedroom is described as having a queen bed and a single futon. The futon is actually a single airbed as we were not given the airbed option by Vrbo in the bed selection option.

A wonderful place to stay

Delightful Stau

We had a very nice stay. Property is beautiful. Really enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning watching birds in the beautiful gardens. Hosts were nice and got back to us quickly when we had a questions. I would stay here again 😃

Highly recommended

Great hosts, so generous and friendly. Great place for kids and so close to a quiet beautiful beach. But if you stay at home, there's also a great garden and deck area. Really hope to be able to stay here again. Thank you so much to you both.

Gorgeous beach side stay

We had a wonderful time at Ross and Sumis place in Wharekaho. They were really helpful and accommodating. The place was clean and had plenty of amenities. Location is superb as it is only a few minutes walk to the beach. We loved the veggie garden and used the yummy fresh produce. Thanks both!

Hideaway

Beautiful hideaway with all facilities you could wish for. Lovely vibe of calmness and wellbeing throughout this home . Products all protecting the environment. Beach across the road with fabulous waves which we all enjoyed. A special home even allowing us to help ourselves to home grown salad from the vegetable patch . We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend this stay

I am a Kiwi and my partner Sumi is from Japan. We live and work here in Whitianga. Sumi is a natural health practitioner while I am semi-retired and do a little property maintenance and surf coaching. We both enjoy gardening and ocean-based activities.

Our property is rural but only a few minutes walk from the beach. We have a beautiful garden where guests can relax and help themselves to fresh spray-free vegetables

What makes this property unique

Backing onto a farm and being very near the beach gives our home the unique combination of a rural and maritime location. We especially love the birdlife in our garden as we eat and drink on the outside decks.
