July 2022 Stay

The Bluejay Chalet was beautifully renovated, clean, comfortable and spacious. The check in process was easy, and Jay's communication with me before and during our stay was prompt and thorough. Jay and Jenny provided all of the necessary cookware, cutlery and dishes, shower/hand towels, sheets, pillows, toilet paper, garbage bags, etc. to make for an easy and comfortable stay. Though we never ended up using the hot tub (due to a full agenda), it was cleaned just before our arrival. This was comforting to see. There was also ample seating in the chalet. The main living room was not only nicely staged with a large TV, but the seating was comfortable too. The fridge was large and clean with a functioning ice machine/filtered water dispenser. The lower level drink fridge was helpful too. The air conditioning worked well. The 2.5 washrooms were clean and functional. The wifi password was easy to find and it worked decently for us. I would certainly consider renting the Bluejay Chalet again in the future. There were only a couple of concerns about the home that my group raised. The first was that the ladies staying in the basement (entry) level of the home, unfortunately encountered more than a few earwigs. Jay had warned us that it was earwig season during our stay, and he advised us to keep doors closed and wet towels inside. We were careful to keep the doors and window closed, and didn't end up using the hot tub, so we didn't hang anything outside to dry. We were surprised to see so many earwigs in the primary washroom in the basement and in the basement bedrooms. Unfortunately one of the girls found one in her bed, and another brought a few earwigs home with her in her bag. The basement guests said they killed close to 30 earwigs during their stay. I would certainly consider returning to the Bluejay Chalet if this issue is addressed. The other concern was about the upstairs bunkbed. The bunkbed could use new mattresses or be replaced altogether, as it is quite uncomfortable for adults. The ladies who were in these beds moved to the couch in the middle of the night. This was unfortunate as we booked the home so that every guest would have a bed. Overall, we had an excellent time. The home is in a great location and there are plenty of activities in the area for all seasons.
