Thank you for letting us know that you enjoyed this wonderful location - right on the water.
Beautiful location. Comfortable home and beds. Cool to see the artwork from the former owner. Would have been great to know there was no coffee avail - even a starter pack. Otherwise EXACTLY what we were hoping for. Thanks!

Thank you for the 5-Star review! We are pleased to know that we met your expectations.
We had a great time a family. We loved that the water was only a few steps away. We also enjoyed visting the state park up the road and the beautiful town of Northport.
Amazing location right on Lake Michigan; private, quiet, and perfect for dog walks and swimming. Close enough to town and fun day trips, and equipped with everything you'd need for your stay. The sunroom/porch was our favorite spot with unbeatable views. The host was responsive, accommodating and easy to work with. The outside is a bit overgrown and the beds were very uncomfortable, but overall we had a great stay. With new beds this would be a 5/5 stars.

We are pleased to know that you enjoyed this lake Michigan home and beachfront. We are sorry the beds did not work for you; all beds were replaced in July of this year.
Comfortable home right on Lake Michigan with beautiful views. We enjoyed the sunrises and hunting for Petosky stones on the shore. The home was roomy enough for our family of 4. I thoroughly enjoyed having my morning coffee on the enclosed back porch! Quiet, wooded location but not too far from town. We enjoyed our stay at this lovely home!

We had a great visit on the Leelanau peninsula. The cottage is very remote but has all the amenities you need. A beautiful spot on Grand Traverse Bay. Close to Leelanau State Park and very private. We can’t wait to visit again!
The place made me feel like a child again at my grandma’s. Older home filled with love. Nothing fancy, just a normal simplistic place. The coffee maker didn’t work and the company replaced it within hours. My negatives? The master bedroom next to the bathroom really could use a new mattress. The exterior really needed some love too. You could tell it was a purchase and flip to rent out place which made me sad to be honest considering the love the original owner had. Please note the fireplace is non operational due to them running pipe through the chimney.

This house was in a great location, and there was lots of room to roam. However, the house itself was very disappointing. The house had an old, musty odor to it, the furniture was very beat-up and uncomfortable, the front door was difficult to open, the microwave was a few decades old, and the roof was leaking in the screened-in porch, among other things. It's clear this house is not well-maintained and I'm surprised it continues to be used as a rental. We are usually satisfied with rentals managed by this company, so we were surprised by the state of this one.

We will let the owner know your complaints. There is a problem with all of the smaller cottages on the water when it rains with musty feel the humidity was very high that weekend so that probably lent to that. We do show pictures of it being older and agree it would be nice if it were more fixed up but we try to price things accordingly.

Rental could use some care
We booked a 5 night stay but left after 3 nights. The home itself was superficially clean but under the kitchen table and under other furniture not clean. Carpet in bedrooms with old stains. Ceilings had old water and leak stains. There were ants on the kitchen counters near the toaster and coffee maker also in the bathroom. With more care the rental could be so nice. Outside is overgrown with weeds and shrubs and uncomfortable to take our dog out. Windows were covered with dead bugs. The water view is pretty but not swimmable, rocks and algae. If you do chose to go, bring bug spray. Looks like it was well loved at one time but now just doing the minimum.

The location of this property is very beautiful and private with spectacular views of Lake Michigan! Close to all the main attractions, Grand Traverse Light House, Christmas Cove Beach, Leelenau State Park etc. right on Lake Michigan. The cottage itself needs some TLC. On arrival the home had a very musty old smell. It looked clean on first glance however it really needs a deep clean. Tons of bugs in corners and carpets are super old and very stained. With a fresh coat of paint, hard floors throughout, updated beds/furniture and a deep clean it would be much better. The outside needs some major landscaping. Tons and weeds and overgrown brush hosted tons of mosquitos and bugs. I was very disappointed that during our stay they had the lawn scheduled to be mowed which I felt was kind of rude considering what we paid to stay there. Also the lawn person sprayed tons of herbicide/round up on an overgrowth of weeds right next to the front door which is where our dogs came in and out to go to the bathroom. That stuff is poison and we don’t even use it at our own home. It made no sense given the fact that around the entire home there are tons of unkempt weeds and brush, I really did not understand that. When she was done it didn’t look any different so what was the point. From the pictures it looked like a nice sandy beach front but in fact it is all rocks and broken shells which absolutely kill your feet to walk on, it is not really a swimmable area. Unfortunately we will not return.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to know that you found the location private and beautiful. Some lakeside homes when closed for a few days can have a musty smell, which dissipates. We will review these comments with our housekeeper and resolve them. This home is privately owned, and sometimes maintenance is scheduled. When informed, it is our policy to notify our guests of maintenance. The online description of the home reads " OUTDOORS: Gas grill, rocky beach & lake bottom, picnic table.

Two friends and I, as well as our two dogs, spent 3 nights at Bayside East. The cottage is absolutely lovely -- very clean, with many conveniences. We loved the former resident's artwork and wish that there had been some literature on it. The location is rather remote, which was fine for us during this trip. But, it did mean we couldn't easily run out for things. The beach is very rocky, and the steps down to it were wobbly. I don't think I would bring my grandkids here, since I don't think they'd be able to swim. It is walking distance to the lighthouse, though, which is nice. We had a problem with gnats, which seemed to appear when we opened the windows. They seemed to come through the screens. It could have been a time of year thing. We did have fun -- kind of -- using home remedies to get rid of them!

Nice to hear that you enjoyed this home with your furry friends ! We are sorry about the fruit flies. They are seasonal due to the large amount of fruits produced in our area at this time of year.
This is a modest 3-bedroom ranch home with a scenic Grand Traverse Bay shoreline sitting among acres of splendid Pine, Maple and Birch Forest. A generous amount of very nice lawn chairs are situated in the yard for viewing sunrises and sitting around a small fire pit. A nice 10 step staircase descends to a private natural coastline that is spectacular.
Inside the home is bright, tidy and attractive. Window views are picturesque. Beds and furniture are clean and comfortable but larger beds would be an improvement worth considering. Some amenities need to be replaced including the Keurig coffee maker, some cookware and the clothes dryer.
Artwork throughout the home from original owner, Cornelia Crisp adds appeal. Some furnishings and décor are a little dated, but clean and pleasant. The owner produced guidebook is thoughtful, helpful and appreciated. There is ample material for reading and TV media is provided.
Check-in was easy. Communication was good. Proximity to charming towns, the lighthouse, trails and scenic areas is a definite plus. Allowing pets is why we came.
Persistent fruit flies in the kitchen were a nuisance and a musty smell ranged from barely detectable to prevalent after it rained. Landscaping around the home was sadly unkept and messy.
We enjoyed our stay and loved the location and being able to include our pet but the fruit flies will keep us from coming back.
With better maintenance and housekeeping this rental could realize its full potential and earn

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at this home. We appreciate your thoughtful comments, we will follow up on the items that need attention. During late summer and early fall our farms and orchards are in harvest mode - which is the clarion call for fruit flies.

Lovely Location, Living Smell Was Not Expected!
As stated during phone conversations with the rental management company, we will not be leaving terribly negative feedback - only honest. The rental company that managed the home was cooperative and polite; they were accessible and responsive. The location of the home was lovely however the living smell within the home was not. It was disgusting - beyond musty or wet, it was sick with black mold and a dank smell of a biological spore. It physically made us sick. We drove 5 hours to discover unbreathable air in the home that burned our eyes and caused our asthma to flare immediately. It was a huge disappointment (for which the rental management company profusely apologized for). Our money was fully refunded (eventually).
There is an unfinished basement that is dreadfully unsafe for pets and small children; the listing does not include this information. The trees block the view of the lake (as do the shrubs and overgrown landscape) and there are other strange buildings on the property - again not safe for curious children. The beach in nonexistent; all rock due to current water levels. Check/call with the rental company prior to booking this rental to confirm issues have been fixed, remediated and updated.

Reviewer Comments:
Great location; beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Close to gorgeous Christmas Cove, Lighthouse, hiking trails and charming Northport. The house was not very clean - windows full of dead bugs, spider webs - could have easily been vacuumed. Appreciate effort to keep fruit flies under control but the glasses of dead fruit flies everywhere should have been emptied before our arrival. Coffee maker doesn't work - major concern; I saw previous renters mentioned this and not resolved by our stay. Dryer doesn't work; same, mentioned by previous reviewer. Larger beds would increase comfort. I realize deeply wooded area but grounds were very overgrown and unkept. With a little effort this could be an ideal vacation home.
Lovely home tucked away in the forest on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. Perfect for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and spend some quiet time rejuvenating.
