Your very own light-filled, tranquil getaway right in the heart of one of San Francisco's most prestigious and serene neighborhoods. The apartment boasts beautifully finished hardwood floors, tastefully furnished living room, comfortable bedroom with large closet, remodeled kitchen with great chef's style gas range, quiet dishwasher and large modern refrigerator/freezer, large bathroom with bathtub and shower--all amenities, including high-speed internet, cable, unlimited phone calls within the U.S., washer/dryer in building. Everything you need for the perfect home away from home! (Thirty-day minimum rental as per SF rental law requirements.)

Great location: Close to fantastic restaurants, shopping, Golden Gate Park, excellent bus lines (#1, #2, #28, #33, #44,). Virtually all major downtown sights are just a direct bus ride away to the east, and beaches, Land's End, the Palace of the Legion of Honor, and Sea Cliff are a quick bus or bike ride to the west. Hop on the 28 bus get to the Golden Gate Bridge, the Marina and Fort Mason to the north. Walk directly into the Presidio/Mountain Lake Park from the back garden gate, and stroll across the Presidio to Baker Beach!

The Lake District neighborhood has world-class recreation. You are within easy reach of 3 marvelous beaches: Baker beach, Ocean beach, or China beach. We are also located a short, scenic drive through the Presidio and over the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County, and just over an hour to the quaint town of Sonoma and all the wine country has to offer.

Great location. Apartment has everything you need for an extended vacation.

Really enjoyed my time in San Francisco. This apartment is perfectly located for walks in the Presidio, Golden Gate Park and Lands End. Restaurants and coffee shops are close by. I would certainly stay here again.

A must stay in SF

Leila and Don are incredible hosts who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was stress free and peaceful. Located in a beautiful and quiet area with great access to public transportation, amazing restaurants, and some of the most beautiful locations inside the city. The apartment is as described. I loved my stay here and would highly recommend booking this apartment for your next stay in the city.

Hosts are very helpful and experienced. Lovely quiet area of town, away from the hustle bustle of city, which is perfect for my needs Apartment is quaint, well maintained with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Its a walkup apartment, can be challenging for anyone with a lot of luggage.

Quiet charm and comfort

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our several days stay in this cozy, comfortable flat in one of SF’s loveliest neighborhoods. The flat is well-appointed, tastefully decorated, and quiet. We were especially taken with the soft afternoon light that streams into the living room, creating a peaceful glow during the cocktail hour. Just through the back fence we found walking paths, beautifully tended greenery, and a charming lake. The location is perfect for catching public transportation to downtown SF. But you can walk just a few short blocks to reach SF’s spectacular Golden Gate Park, with enough attractions and diversions to gobble up a couple weeks of vacation. Even closer in are skads of Asian and European eateries in SF’s burgeoning “new” Chinatown. Among these is our favorite Burmese restaurant, Mandalay, which we’ve been visiting for 20 years now. This flat, in comfort and convenience, is perfect for two. You’ll wish you could stay longer; we did.

Oasis of calm in SF

What a good address! There is no traffic noise and easy parking. Those are two features very hard to find in SF. The apartment faces a park with a lake so you can go hiking out your own back door and enjoy the view from the large bay window in the living room. The neighborhood feels both quiet and secure. Inside, there is everything you need to prepare your own meals whenever you prefer. There is a full bedroom and bath, plus a sofa bed that we didn't use. Leila quickly answered all of our questions and was a pleasure to work with. We would recommend this listing without a single caveat and hope to stay there again.

My husband and I are both academics from the Bay Area and currently live and teach in Raleigh, NC. We love San Francisco and go back whenever we can. We bought this beautiful apartment for ourselves to stay in when we go back to visit friends and family and have furnished it accordingly. For that reason, people who stay there think it feels like home.

Why they chose this property

We think this is a fantastic area of San Francisco--full of great restaurants, proximity to parks, museums and the beach, while being within easy reach of downtown sights.

What makes this property unique

The apartment itself is luminous, spacious, and incredibly quiet and pastoral, even though it is in one of the most animated and bustling cities of the world. The building is an Edwardian, built in 1910, and the apartment has retained many of those features: high ceilings, beautiful wood floors and curved bay windows. We have only recently listed on VRBO, but we do have reviews from other websites that we are happy to forward upon request.
