The good points first - great idea having tankless water heater and quick hot water to all showers and sinks. Nice touch with the hot tub and certain windows being able to stay open with screens. Kitchen, dining, and den worked very well. Outdoor covered patio very nice with comfortable chairs. Having sleeping areas separate worked well. Washer and dryer in good location and worked well. Plenty of games for the young children. WIFI worked well. Very nice views from the home. The less good matters. All bedrooms need king size beds and the pillows are too hard. Suggest adding runners on the stairs to lower the noise of foot traffic. The bedrooms and den need TV's. Not all windows that can be opened have screens. Nothing can be done about it, but too much road traffic to be able to sleep late with the windows open.
Our overall stay was truly amazing! There's nothing really "bad" I can say about the place. It was clean and welcoming as they advertise.A few nitpicks as a renter -There was confusion with the locked door on the first floor. I would have like to have seen a sign on the door or a note to let me know it's not a bedroom or blocked off from renters. I understand not having a TV on the main floor as this is place is a beautiful retreat meant for quality time, but that made our stay a bit more awkward. There was a QR code or document that said we needed to sign in or sign up. It was confusing for us, we opted not to sign up as it seemed like marketing and not part of the official check-in process. Another minor nitpick was the Yale door lock. Day 1 after we were locking up the house, we heard the sound the lock makes when the batteries need to be replaced. (We have a Yale door lock as well). This was a bit worrisome because we could have been locked out at any point during our stay. Thankfully it didn't go out during our stay. I asked a question, via text, to Greg, but I never heard back. Maybe it was timing. It wasn't a bad experience, but some minor details that had us a bit concerned. I'm sure we'll return again as these were nothing to really be concerned about, just some oddities that we experienced. Again, the place was very nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Taos Mountain Haus!

Hi Rachel! Thanks for giving us 5 stars! We love that you loved the home and had a good time.
So sorry about the confusion on those items during your stay and thank you for sharing so we can address that for future guests. There is a note about the locked off owner suite in the house manual - the owners are not a fan of the look of signs around the house, but I can see why you might be confused there if you didn't use the QR code to read the house manual. You didn't have to sign up for anything, just click the link from the QR to access our house manual document so you could better understand the details of managing the home and communicating with the host!
We are considering getting a little projector for the house so folks can stream on the wall downstairs - the aesthetic of the home dictates the decision making here - the owners do not want a big black screen on the wall in the living area.
For the lock - we tend to love the Yale locks and use them at most of our properties. Usually, we have a long period of time when a lock starts to make a noise, especially an indoor lock, like up to a few days to a few weeks, and we are always available to fix issues - but yes, we were having an issue receiving texts that week to our main number due to a regulatory change. Please always reach out by phone or email if you don't get a reply on text, we never want to miss guest messages.
The QR code we place in each home is a link to information about the home provided by us, Abode Vacation, the local management company you booked with through VRBO to rent the home.
