We ended up getting in town late and it was a VERY long gravel road to get to the property. When we went in to check it out, we were greeted by flies and lots of moths. The floors downstairs felt so gross that I didnt let my kids take shoes off. I understand that the home is on a working farm and its very old. But it was so run down that right after walking in, we started calling local hotels to try to find somewhere to go. The upstairs is that much worse than the first floor. There is no handrail on the stairs, the “light switch” is a very long rope that is very unsafe. All of the beds were VERY cheap metal frames, the mattresses were lumpy, and the sheets were very old and musty. The bedroom with 2 beds upstairs was the only bedroom we used because 2 of my kids were too afraid of the dilapidated flooring in the entire upstairs. It was so uneven and unsteady that it felt like you were going to fall through the floor. One of the bedrooms upstairs was the size of a closet with a very low door frame. The other bedroom had a window unit “taped” in the window that looked like it would fall out if we touched it to turn it on. We

Hi Chip, The right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- The home is an early 1900s farmhouse that’s seen updates over the past five years, including new windows, siding, roofing, and carpet.- Being located in a rural area, it’s not uncommon to encounter bugs from time to time, but the cleaning team makes sure to vacuum and mop the floors between each stay.- The upstairs bedrooms maintain the home’s original hardwood flooring and are designed with a simple, rustic charm.- The stairway and light fixture setup are unique to the age and character of the home, but are fully functional.- All bedding is freshly laundered, often line-dried outdoors, and the owner uses non-chemical detergents, which may not have the scents some guests are accustomed to.Thanks again for your feedback as we continue to work with the homeowner to ensure the property is a good fit for the right guests.
