Over charged
The house was not without its charm and day of arrival was very good (staff was accommodating and very nice). Sadly, the price listed was doubled in mostly hidden fees and (my errror) I didn’t realize this until it was too late to change the reservation. I thought we will make the best of it and I would ask family to pitch in instead of treating which they were very gracious about. I think vrbo and the property should be more up front about fees. Going from 900 to 1800 is hard to swallow. I will never book with vrbo after the run around they gave me about it.
It was a very short trip for a family wedding. We had a lot of activities planned and in the one day I had when I discovered problems with the rental I didn’t have time to deal with it. When I told the property management after they asked why I didn’t report earlier and eventually they gave me a small discount for the inconveniences. I hope they have corrected whatever was wrong with the hot water because 1 of 3 adults got a 5 min hot shower even when they were spaced out. There is a large dog who charged an elderly family member and getting out of the driveway is insane. You have a blind turn into fast traffic. The house is dated but has the basic necessities—except extra blankets. The floor was sticky in the living room and the master bedroom had a lot of cosmetic damage (towel racks falling off, broken blinds).
Time with family is priceless but the value for this rental was not what I expected.
