This secluded PET FRIENDLY home is powered by our solar farm and overlooks Mr. Waddles Pond. You will discover the allure of sustainable living while enjoying high-end amenities, comfortable furnishings and a wooded paradise right out the front door. Towering trees, an exterior spiral staircase and charming bird feeders welcome you. Settle in and sit back in the cozy living room, equipped with 2 of 5 flat screen smart TV's with 120MBPS Fiber-Optic Wifi. The fully equipped kitchen has a dining table and a breakfast bar. Refresh under solar-heated steamy water in 1 of 2 pristine full bathrooms including fresh plush towels and eco friendly soaps. For rest and rejuvenation, 4 plush mattresses with luxury linens, comfortably sleeps 7 guests. The private bedroom on the second floor can be set up with 2 twins or 1 king bed. The common space bedroom has a queen bed. The sitting area has a twin size hide-a-bed sofa. The main floor bedroom has a full size bed and an entrance door that leads out to the rear deck and handicap ramp. The deck on the the front of the house has a spiral staircase up to the second story balcony. Very close to the home there is a covered pavilion with charcoal grills and a picnic table. From the patio enjoy stunning views of the private duck pond and wooded hillsides. Take a walk across the boardwalk as you meander through lush pathways beneath towering tree canopies and beside bright, blooming flower beds.

A peaceful oasis in nature!

Shangri-la is a beautiful oasis! We are a family of 5 and stayed in the North Bunkhouse. The place was super clean, comfortable and beautiful. Communication with Ed was fantastic. He was on top of everything and provided clear instructions. It was easy to find the property and there was a great packet of information waiting for us when we arrived. There's no cell phone reception there, but Ed had given us a heads up on that. The wifi worked great. I'd highly recommend this stay to anyone who has a true appreciation of nature and enjoys the quiet peacefulness of the woods. Thanks for a great stay Ed and team!

Trip into nature

The home was very nice. If you are interested in nature and birding this is the place to go. We saw many kinds of birds and other wild life as well. The hiking trails are easy for everyone and easily seen. Not far from Naples or Hammondsport and wineries. Lovely stay, super energy efficient.

Great Stay in the Woods

This property is very special. It is an eco-resort tucked in the woods with everything that you need. If you are looking to unplug, to have no cell phone service, and to take in nature and everything it has to offer, and this is the place for you.

Peaceful and beautiful getaway

My husband, my mother and I usually go to the Adirondacks for a long weekend every summer. This summer, however, because of the pandemic our plans were cancelled. So we decided to try and find something closer to home (Rochester, NY) that had a similar feel. We were really in need of a peaceful getaway in the country away from the chaos of 2020. I came across Ed's listing for Shangrila and it was perfect for what we were looking for! It's right outside Naples in the beautiful Bristol hills. We had a great lunch in town on the way and stopped at the local outdoor market on the way back to get some goodies. Ed was very friendly, helpful and communicative as soon as we booked and throughout the process. He met us when we arrived and gave us all the info we needed for our stay. We booked the North Bunk House which had plenty of room for us to spread out and be comfy. We especially loved sitting in the balcony and watching the tons of different birds in the trees above us. There is a beautiful view of the duck pond (right in front of the house) and hills surrounding us. And we loved getting to know the muscovy ducks that live there. There are all kinds of trails around the property some inside wooded areas and we loved exploring them all. We really appreciated how eco-friendly everything is including the fact that everything is solar powered. And that it was pet friendly so we could bring our dog. We wanted to be more "unplugged" during our stay so we didn't watch tv, but there were plenty of tv's and internet you could use if you wanted. We met a couple other of the grounds staff while we were there and they were also very friendly and knowledgeable when we had questions about the ducks, other wildlife or the property. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking again sometime in the future.

Perfect Place, "Private" pond and Nature trails, Super-High Quality Facility and super-nice owner

We must say, Shangri-la was one of our top favorite place to visit in the last decade. It all begins with a great owner who made us feel like home. It then moves to a perfectly well equipt facility with anything from silverware, cooking tools, a few grills with all needed tools, High-quality TV, Super-Fast Internet (it is important in this area), and really nice beds and rooms. It then follows to the pieces of nature that surround Shangrila and being nurtured by the owner. Shangrila is not only the perfect place to stay in, it also meets our value of eco-friendly housing/property and great owners. I will definitely go back with my family.
