About this property
Muddy Hill Moments by Tiny Away
Summary:
Celebrate your special occasions at Muddy Hill Moments! One of the best tiny house rentals secluded in a 9-acre property in Arrow Junction, set in a beautiful 2.5-acre garden with an orchard, a large vegetable garden, a stonewalled hothouse, ponds, and other unique garden elements that guests are welcome to explore.
Although the tiny home is close to your host's home, guests will still have their much-deserved privacy and quiet getaway.
The Space:
Muddy Hill Moments by Tiny Away sits beyond our orchard and edible gardens in a secluded corner of a 4-acre paddock in its own private gravelled yard. In the warmer months, it’s surrounded by wildflowers. It offers breathtaking views across open fields of lucerne and mature trees to the soaring mountains beyond which are capped with snow in winter.
It's one of the best tiny house rentals in Arrow Junction for seeing the sunrise, especially in the winter when a sea of frost covers the entire area, enhancing the spectacular mountain views. Nearby Aosta Arrowtown, Gibbston Valley Winery, and stunning lookouts such as Coronet Peak, and Brow Peak are just a few of the recommended local attractions.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include a cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas heated for hot showers).
If you plan to spend your holiday homes NZ escape here, we advise that you bring warm clothing for winter during your stay with us. Thank you!
IMPORTANT NOTE: CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED due to several open ponds and car workshops on the property that can be harmful to children if left unsupervised.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home and its surroundings and are welcome to explore our gardens during the day. We also run a business, Old School Mechanical Ltd, which specializes in the restoration and repair of classic and vintage cars from the barn on our property (which also houses our museum).
We would be pleased to give you a tour of our museum by prior appointment if you are interested.
Our business is open on weekdays 8:30 am-5:00 pm, located not far from the tiny house with potential for noise occasionally during these hours, and due to health and safety requirements, we ask guests not to approach the workshop during these hours.
The Neighborhood:
Muddy Hill Moments by Tiny Away sits in the quiet and rural community of Arrow Junction, where the majority of our residents graze horses, fallow deer, tend sheep, and crop their land. Birdlife is also abundant in the area, with tuis, fantails, quail families, hawks, and falcons frequently seen floating overhead.
Wander down Buckingham Street and choose from a variety of cafes and restaurants, shop, walk by the river and pan for gold, or see Miners Village. Here and only, one of the best holiday homes NZ escapes in the region!
Our local recommendations:
- The Dishery Restaurant, located near Arrow River Reserve, serves some of the best locally sourced food and beverages in town.
- Aosta Arrowtown is a popular restaurant recommended by visitors that offers the best menu options, ambiance, and excellent service.
- Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge is a popular attraction for thrill-seekers and adventure tourists. Most of those visitors are there to bungy jump into the Kawarau Gorge.
- Arrowtown is a historic gold mining town in the Otago region and a 6 min drive from the property, set on the South Island of New Zealand.
- Coronet Peak, Brow Peak, the Crown Range, and The Remarkables are just a few of the attractions that offer stunning 360-degree mountain vistas.

By public transport:
