You'll love this one of a kind spacious log cabin, nestled among the pine trees, in a private forest retreat.

Homewood Forest Retreat is just 5 minutes from Alexandra and the Otago Rail Trail, 10 min from Clyde and an hour from all the attractions of Queenstown, Wanaka and the ski fields.

Homewood guests are able to explore the forest and cycle trails, relax in the spa pool under the spectacular night sky, enjoy a magical picnic among the pines and so much more…

Fairytale Log Cabin at Homewood Retreat is nestled among a beautiful pine forest with mountain views in the distance.

Spanning over two levels this unique home is full of charm and intrigue.
Downstairs consists of a large open plan kitchen and dining area, a sunken lounge with an open fireplace and large cathedral style windows to enjoy the beautiful views of the pines and mountains.
There are 2 bedrooms with a Jake and Jill shared bathroom and a super king master bedroom with en-suite as well as a separate toilet off the living area. Upstairs has a loft bedroom (king bed) and a large open plan TV area with two double beds.

Please note that there is no bathroom upstairs and guests staying upstairs would need to access the downstairs bathrooms as per the listing description above.

The property also has another two Airbnb cabins should you require additional accommodation for a larger group. We can host up to 16 people. See our other two listings under my profile for more information. Should you wish to have the entire property to yourselves this can be arranged.

Guest access
The entire house and its immediate surroundings. There is also a hot tub / spa pool which guests are welcome to use when the cabin is not booked out by other guests. Should you wish to book the entire property this can be arranged for an additional fee.
We also have 2 E-bikes, 1 regular mountain bike and golf clubs and fishing rods for rental.

We do not allow parties or loud noise after 10pm. Please review the house rules before requesting to book.

We have a couple of chickens who may be around the house from time to time. However they mostly stay near their little house on the other side of the property and can be kept inside their pen should this be needed.

Fairytale Lodge Getaway

It's hard to describe how fantastic our stay was in this majestic lodge in Alexandra. We wished we could have stayed another 3 days. From the hobbit round door to the amazing communication from the owners, this stay was absolutely unforgettable.

Paul and I are the proud new owners of Homewood Forest Retreat. We recently moved from Auckland for a more relaxed lifestyle in Central Otago. When we are not home we are out biking, hiking, skiing, fishing and exploring this beautiful country.
We love sharing our unique log cabin with guests from around the world!

Why they chose this property

Central Otago has it all! We love all the outdoor activities from biking, hiking, fishing, golfing and water sports to the winter fun of skiing, ice skating and curling. There are also plenty of extreme sports too for the adrenaline junkies. And for those who prefer to take things a bit slower enjoy a stroll around the historic gold mining towns, picnic in the forest or at one of the beautiful clear water lakes, wine tasting or fine dining. This location is central to many wonderful day trips such as Queenstown, Arrowtown, Wanaka, Dunedin, Twizel and Mt Cook. There is something fun for everyone!
