Natural Home Built in Earthship Style on Waterfront Property
This home is striking and is one of a kind, from its solar facing windows to hand poured concrete countertops, slate floors, adobe walls, log and hand hewn beams, handcrafted furniture with our own blacksmith accents. Feature walls include island stone, adobe plaster, lime plaster walls coloured handmade glass bottle feature walls. The home incorporates a southern with a wall of windows. The kitchen cupboards have round hobbit style doors, hidden storage units and concrete countertops. The bedroom features our own built bed, with a pullout office area, side board lighting, and many examples of storage spaces.
Because of the homes unique design the sun warms the home in the winter, but the computer designed extended eaves and earth tied interior cool the home in the summer.
We built and designed earthships in New Mexico to learn many of the techniques, but added our own styling and features into the home. The kitchen breakfast bar is built from log burls we harvested, then carved and accented with our own insite forged hardware.
The bathroom has a large round concrete and tile shower, the vanity features a sink base from a tree stump, above the door for extra light is a glass bottle bick wall. The windows of the cottage face south for maximum solar gain, so there are large windows, the overhang shelters the summer heat, but allows the winter sun to shine in.

Great vacation place: private, quiet, all comforts in place, wonderful beach, warm clean water with no big waves. Great hosts, welcoming and nonintrusive. Great place to relieve the stress of one’s everyday life, really an island of paradise.
Hosts are very welcoming, cottage is clean, property well kept with access to the water. Would recommend for a solo or couple traveling together. Unique experience staying in a earthship style dwelling.

Thank so much for your visit, please come and visit us again.
The house was very clean and comfortable in every way. The bed had a firm but comfortable mattress, which was appreciated. All of the basics were available in the kitchen. Owner was great with communication before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this unique home for a couple or very small family.

Thanks come again, and thank you for leaving the cottage so clean and well looked after. Great guests to have and we recommend them.
Very clean and comfortable. Hosts live on the property and are prompt with any concerns. Great location and easy to access all parts of the island and national park from this location. Would recommend.
We absolutely loved the tranquil rural setting in Rustico - beautiful, quiet, close to great coffee (go Frothy Coffee!) and amazing coastline (particularly enjoyed the Brackley Beach area). Wonderful bike riding and trail running. The "Earthship-style" unit is environmentally-friendly, open and cozy, super comfortable with modern amenities plus a relaxing patio, chairs, and fire pit offering great sunset views (see photos). The very friendly and attentive host (thanks Kevin!) was easily available for any questions about the area. Would love to stay here again in the future.
Nice place. It is designed to be an earth house and it is really unique. Some really nice quirky elements make it feel very much natural.
We were at a 2 day festival so were out most of the time and didn't really make use of the grounds, which do look nice.
