I fell in love with this peaceful riverside spot along the Shavers Fork of the Cheat River, just minutes from Elkins, because it offers the perfect blend of serene nature and convenient small-town charm. The cabin sits in a quiet, rural area at the edge of the vast Monongahela National Forest, where the rushing river provides a constant, soothing soundtrack and world-class trout fishing is literally steps away.
What I enjoy most is waking up with coffee, relaxing on the screened porch listening to the water, and feeling completely unplugged yet close to everything. A quick drive takes you to charming downtown Elkins with its arts scene, scenic train rides, breweries, and festivals—or deeper into the forest for hiking and wildlife spotting. It's true Almost Heaven: secluded, beautiful, and full of adventure without the crowds!
