Love to hear how much you enjoyed the cottage and lake. The place was left incredibly clean-thanks for taking such great care of the property. Hope to host you and family again.
Our weather was perfect and we lived on or in the water enjoying all the water sports! The swing and slide was a bonus and kept a three year old busy! The indoor open concept was ideal for meal prep, dining, and indoor cards/games. A special reunion for all!

Glad you all had a great stay! I’m sure the AC helped as it was a hot week.
Thanks for taking such great care of property!
Love to hear that your family enjoyed all that the lake offers as well as the play area at cottage.
Our multigenerational family really enjoyed staying at Heather’s cottage for the week. The lake access is amazing for kids as it’s shallow entry and the paddle boards and kayaks were well used by our family. The view of the lake from the property is stunning. There is no railing on the stairs to the basement so young kids should be monitored if it’s in use, but there’s also a door which is a good safety measure. Heather was very accommodating to us and our dogs and she was always quick to respond to questions. Thank you for a great stay!

So glad you all enjoyed your week long stay! The shallow entry is great and safe for young children-so glad you were able to experience it. The cottage was left in great shape from the group-hope to see you again.
This property has everything - loads of space indoors with quality decor and furnishings. A nice blend of modern and rustic. The kitchen/dining area is huge and so well-stocked you feel right at home. But the best part is the access to Wood Lake. The views are beautiful, and the shallow water was perfect for kiddos and adults to swim. The host was super responsive and helpful. Couldn't ask for more, and would love to go back next year!
Location on of the cottage is good. Dock is nice and big on calm part of the lake. Good for swimming and kayaking. Lots of room in the cottage upstairs nice and open. Good size main bathroom upstairs but the bathroom downstairs was a bit tight. Lots of space outside for kids to run around and play games. A table outside on the patio would of been good. A/C and wifi work well. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would go back.
The first thing that struck us was what a wonderful location it was. There was a grassy area in the back for lawn games, a beautiful waterfront providing shallow entry to the lake and a great glass fronted deck giving way to spectacular views.
The interior of the cottage was exactly as the pictures showed...nicely decorated and very comfortable. The kitchen was large and well equipped with modern appliances. The large dining room table seated 9 with no problem. All of the bedrooms were very comfortable.
Everything was left clean and well organized. The granny suite was an amazing extra when travelling with the extended family.
Wood Lake is great for swimming, fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking
Heather was an amazing host always readily available to provide help when needed.
We had a wonderful week on Wood Lake and would highly recommend this cottage to others.

About the host
Hosted by Heather
We lived in Oakville for 25 years while raising our kids, enjoying weekends and holidays at the cottage. We've moved to Horsevalley Rd which allows us to be closer to cottage. Recently we have bought the family cottage/summer home which we are now sharing with those that love Muskoka. We have enjoyed growing up at the cottage, as well as raising our own children there during the summer and winter months. Our wish is to share our love for the cottage with other families for them to create memories swimming, fishing, sitting under the stars while telling ghost stories, winter days skating on ice rinks and at days end, sitting in Muskoka chairs at the end of the dock.
Why they chose this property
Our lake is a favorite for everyone who has visited or rented elsewhere in Muskoka. It's a closed lake so no extra boat traffic comes onto the lake except for those that live there. The lake has an association which everyone is a part of, hosting wine and cheese for new comers that have moved onto lake as well as a regatta on Aug. long weekend. The cottage is close to a beaver dam for hikes, waterfalls for picnics and has a unique island which is crown land that people visit and swims to a nearby rock to jump off. Everyone looks out for each other being a medium sized lake and helps boaters that might find themselves in distress. Sailers and waterskiiers love the lake as it has calm waters in many areas while the centre of lake has great breezers for lazers or even catarmaran sail boats. Cottages rarely make it to market as most properties are scooped up by people waiting to buy that have visited through friends. Our shore is a favorite of the lake due to it's easy access to Bracebridge, sun exposure and sandy shoreline at waters edge.
What makes this property unique
The location for morning sun rise is the best on the lake. Shallow entry with hard packed sand gradually falls away to deeper water. The property is free of large rocks or weeds which allows for nice, safe swimming. The cottage has AC, a furnance and fireplace. It also has a hard wired generator for those summer storms that might knock out power for a day or two of your vacation, allowing for continued electricity. Property out the back allows space for throwing football, playing badminton or sitting around a bonfire.
