Thank you for sending a review. I waved from my window. My leg stopped me from walking over! But I saw your husband and the pup in the yard! Cutie, the dog, not being forward about the husband. Hope you had a nice visit.
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was great. It was well organized, neat and clean. It was very well equipped with everything we needed and more. We especially enjoyed the welcome chocolates. We would definitely stay there again!
Pros- As pictured. Good location. Spacious.
Cons- parking was available on back street and unkempt landscaping, could have used a desk for computer work.

We had a desk and no one used it so we made it into a TV Stand when got new Smart TV. Large table in kitchen very close to power outlets. And due to the pandemic our ability to staff our lawn maintenance company has made our landscaping schedule fall behind at our properties as we struggle to get our customers done. I hope that didn't interfere with your enjoyment of the house.

A comfortable stay!
We stayed in this home for two months while checking out the KC area as a possible new residence. The location was perfect, the house was comfortable and Julie was very responsive with the few things we needed assistance with. The only items my son and I had to learn to like was not having soft water and sitting on an uncomfortable futon. But even with these two issues we would stay here again!

We are working on alternate living room seating. We have a budget for improvements and we haven't found something that will fit and is in budget. The recliners were comfy though? And I have no control over the water. That is a city utility and water softener is not as important as comfortable seating!! Enjoyed your stay very much!!
The house is in a good location and is cozy. The kitchen is very large and we had everything we needed. The bedrooms are a little small but that didn’t bother us at all. We set up the baby’s pack n play in one of the extra living areas and that worked really well. Only issue was that the driveway is very steep and our car is low to the ground so we couldn’t get it up the driveway without scraping. So we just parked on a side street and it was fine. Property owner was very prompt with communication and we had a nice stay.
Exceptional property for visit to KC. Very very clean and well equipped. Glorious front porch. Very comfortable beds with nice linens. Huge bathroom and kitchen.
We were in town for a youth b-ball tournament. We loved being able to comfortably walk the tree lined streets to so many different things.
Check in and out was a breeze. We travel frequently and typically stay in private homes through VRBO or a competitor. This home far exceeded my expectations.
Outside space is lacking. Yard space but many weeds. This is the only thing that makes me give it a 4 instead of a 5.

Thank you. Yes, the yard tends to get long. With heat, rain and my son's schedule it get out of control. But we hope to make up for that with the inside. Please keep us in mind for your next visit.
Spent a lovely weekend in this very clean and well equipped house in the Plaza neighborhood in KC. Julie was easy to get in touch with regarding checkin and even sent someone over to set out the garbage on Sunday evening. We all enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the home and were quite comfortable for the three night stay. The only thing that caused concern was the very steep driveway that was difficult to see backing out due to the neighbor’s garage. On street parking was available the next street over, and there is a super cute little path to walk between the houses to get in safely. So ultimately, no worries! Would defiantly rent from Julie again!

Thank you very much for the endorsement. As the street has no parking and we have a lovely fire hydrant in front of our house anyway the drive was necessary and due to proximity as sloped as possible. But we do have amble security camera covered parking as you described and just finished the new path!! Thanks for the shout out. Come back anytime.

So...so
I agree with previous reviews. Lights outside very bright during the night. If they need to be on, some dark curtains should be hung over the blinds. TV way out dated. Futon was broken. Should invest in a new one or a new hide-a-bed. Be very aware of the steep and narrow driveway.

I am sorry we are unaware of the futon being damaged. It is new so if it got damaged I assume a previous guest didn't report it. I will investigate and handle it. We are working on curtains, we have had back to back quests so that effort has been delayed. And we have note of the drives steepness and do have alternate parking if anyones particular vehicle can not make the driveway. Thank you for your input.
Our visit didn't quite go as planned as our flight was delayed by 2 days because of Winter Storm Elliot. Julie graciously provided us with a reimbursement for the nights we didn't stay. Checking in was easy. Shortly after we arrived on Christmas Eve, there was a partial power outage in the house. Julie responded immediately and came to the house to try and fix the problem. She ended up offering us another nearby unit since it was unlikely we could find an electrician to come out over the holidays. Overall, this trip was not what we expected but Julie provided timely communication and support which was a great help.

Great place to stay for a mini vacation!
We had a great time in KC and a big reason was the accommodations. The Jennings were wonderful people and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay and made very effort to make it perfect. We even had freshly baked cookies upon arrival! Our car was not capable of making it in the main driveway, but they offered two other options for parking that met our needs. The house was well stocked and had all the essentials. If there is anything I can be picky about, it was the lack of internet and a more modern tv. I wasn't able to plug our Roku in, but it didn't really impede our short stay any. For a longer stay, it would be nice. To be fair, they are on a waiting list for Google Fiber so one part of this may resolve itself soon enough! One other thing to note, the security light outside the bedrooms is a tad bright at night. The windows have blinds, but could probably use some curtains as well. The house was very clean and inviting and the neighborhood felt very safe. It is in a great location to access pretty much anything KC has to offer as its very centrally located. We were usually no more than 15 minutes from the next planned activity. All in all, we would highly recommend this as a comfortable and convenient place to stay and we do plan a return visit!!

I apologize the house has internet. And google fiber tv. My sister had to check you in due to timing. The card for tv and the house book should have been prominently available. I did find it on coffee table under magazine. I so wish u would have called when it was not easily accessible. We did have a huge storm during your stay and i don't know if box might have needed to be reset?

Great location and great landlords
The home is in a great location for exploring Kansas City and the surrounding area.
Some "nice to knows" for potential renters: The kitchen is stocked very well. We always cook a lot when we travel and I had access to everything that I needed. The beds were very comfortable and the air mattress was great but the futon was not very comfortable. As other reviewers have said, the driveway is a problem but we were able to work with it. The owner was very easy to work with and responded very quickly to all our requests.
Just two negatives: The floor in the kitchen is very sloped and since I am prone to dizziness once in a while, it was a challenge at times. We were also disappointed in the pool situation. From the posting, I thought the pool was in the neighborhood and would be easily accessible. Unfortunately, while the pool was in the neighborhood, it is a part of a club and the owner needed to give advance warning that we would be using the pool. It also cost $15 per person per day. I wish I had known that before our arrival. We chose not to swim.
One thing I learned: only 1 bathroom was harder to deal with than I thought. :) We had six people -- including 2 teen-agers -- and found waiting for the bathroom to be tough! But that was our fault. We knew going in that there was only 1 bathroom -- I just thought we could make it work. For our family, we will need a place with 2 bathrooms for a few more years. The bathroom is very nice!!
All-in-all, we had a very enjoyable stay and we definitely recommend this property to others. It would have gotten 5 stars if it weren't for the few tiny things I mentioned. (I am stingy on stars -- I figure potential renters want to get all the information they can!)
Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Thank you. I'm sorry about the pool misunderstanding. As your stay was longer I could have called and gotten you in the pool but the details about that are on the amenity list and there was the city pool options I also mentioned. And the steepness of the drive can is also mentioned, we do have alternate parking and it is very car dependent whether its an issue. But as there is no street parking on State Line it is a good thing to have it steep or not. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we do also have a 2 bath unit. And I have changed the futon to seating only as an option. The house is 100 years old, to do the remodel we had to pour a slab to match and the new section of the kitchen is slightly different and we have a cellar door in the floor which is covered by the rug so perhaps that was you felt.

Classic KC Experience
I lived in Kansas City for 13 years and owned a few homes around the age of this one, so I'd say that we had a classic KC older home experience. On a good note, the house has surprisingly good water pressure with water that heats up quickly. Expect slanting floors, noise outside (it's a city), a crazy driveway experience (yes, it's steep and exits to a major road), a tiny yard that is not all the way fenced, etc. That's all part of staying in older places in midtown KC. We had some unfortunate older home things happen while we were there, and they were handled in time. The electricity for the bathroom, the Internet, several kitchen appliances, and the heat on nights of 10-degree weather kept going out for varying amounts of time. After two days and one unhelpful electrician visit, my husband stayed to talk with the electrician during the second visit to make sure he understood the nature of the problems, which included needing to replace one of the house's main breakers and the entire electrical panel. The breaker was replaced; the electrical panel will be replaced when it comes in, so hopefully, future guests will not have those sorts of problems. The property owner/manager lives right behind the house, and the family owns many of the nearby properties. As it is set up now, the house is not especially conducive to working from home as my husband does (the kitchen table's chairs are uncomfortable, and my husband had to use an extension cord to plug into outlets), so we spent much of our time elsewhere. To be clear, the owner/manager offered to bring a desk, but we were tired of constantly having people in and out at that point and opted to continue to make other arrangements for our remaining time; we were in town for a wedding and already had a lot on our plates. We enjoyed being in walking distance of places like Cupini's and Cafe Corazon, and there's a nice park within a couple of blocks.
This is a really cute house in an historic neighborhood
This is a charming house in an historic area in Kansas City, and the property owners care deeply about the neighborhood and have renovated several properties in the area. This is a safe area in the heart of KC, and the ability to park off street is a plus. Two spacious bedrooms with comfy beds, and a fully equipped kitchen made my stay very pleasant. Easy to get anywhere in the midtown area from here. Highly recommend!
We stayed at this property for 3 days. Although the back deck needs attention we absolutely had the best time. The experience was easy and restful. The driveway was always the highlight of entering and exiting lol. The host was great and accommodating. We will stay again if the opportunity arises.
Cute, clean house in a great location close to so many places (had we wanted to venture out)! My friend and I just wanted a safe, comfortable place to have a weekend to reconnect, do a jigsaw puzzle and talk. We enjoyed the front deck to soak up some spring sun and watching the neighborhood folk walking their dogs. Good space for us to maneuver in the kitchen and nice sized table for our jigsaw puzzle (with room for snacks!). Good shower pressure and temp. Julie was great, explaining all we needed to know and it was good to know she was so close in case we needed something. Beds were comfortable. For light sleepers, the front bedroom may not be the best due to the traffic down State Line, but it didn't bother me. My friend said she didn't hear the traffic at all in her bedroom. One thing we would have liked (and it is possible we just didn't see it) was a cutting board. Otherwise, the house is well stocked and I would definitely rent this house again! Thank you, Julie!!!
Second time staying here. The place was spotless, so clean. Has everything you need and is close walking distance to lots of places for curbside pickup. For a longer walk you could easily trek to Starbucks on 39th. The neighborhood is beautiful. Temperature easy to control. Water pressure awesome. Thank you!

Thank you, for staying again. And we have an awesome coffee shop in the neighborhood Café Corazon. 43 and Bell, so be sure to check it out next time. Just 3 blocks up out the back door!! Hope to see you again soon.
We enjoyed our stay here, it was easy to drive throughout the metro from here and visit places like the art museum and union station. It’s close to Starbucks for morning coffee runs and a quick walk to restaurants on 43rd. In nice weather it would be a nice walk to the park or around the 39th street neighborhood. The home itself is spacious, clean and has good water pressure with easily controlled heat. The driveway is steep but parking on Bell street was easy for daytime, and we parked in the drive at night no problem. We would stay again. Thanks!

Thank you. We do hope folks take note of the drive, as street parking on State Line is not a thing. So we did the best we could to put in off street but have made alternate parking available if necessary very close by. Thank you for staying with us, even with the impending shut down of the city. Come back in better times for another good visit.
Julie met us upon arrival and discussed accommodations locks security etc. friendly and attentive to our needs. My stay lasted 10 days while my wife received treatments at close by KU MEDICAL CENTER I was very happy to have found this home so close to the hospital and so many restaurant options Grocer stores etc. very comfortable and convenient.
We had family coming to visit, but our small home can't accommodate lots of guests, so we rented them this house and were very happy with it. The house was clean and well-furnished and the renter was very easy to get hold of and communicate with. This house is convenient to West Plaza and the surrounding neighborhoods. We will definitely be looking to rent again the next time friends or family come to visit.

About the host

My sister's and I inherited our parents rental properties in 2016. We have decided to turn a couple of our units into short term/Vacation rentals. We have really enjoyed meeting the families and groups that have had adventures in KC and stayed at our units.
Why they chose this property
It is just darling, and some of our guests at our larger unit are being repeat visitors but asked about smaller unit. So when our tenants here moved to one of our larger homes next door and this one became vacant at a really bad turn over time we said let's do another, smaller choice in this house. It's been rented long term furnished for 3 years and our tenant has moved. So back on short term it goes!!
What makes this property unique
Less expensive then our larger townhome unit, still in a very desirable location in the heart of Kansas City. Just west of the Country Club Plaza, less then 10 minutes from Westport, Crown Center, Downtown, very central to entire KC Metro, MO & Ks side of the state line its right on it.
