Isabelle has a beautiful chateau ! Wonderful property!!
Being met by Isabelle for check in was a plus! She introduced us to the chateau and the property.
We had everything we needed for a fun stay!
Would stay here again if we are ever in the area again.!
The place was excellent for time with my sons. We had fun playing Uno, fishing in the lake. We relaxed while touring the Luray caverns and enjoyed the vineyards.
I enjoyed the quiet and peacefulness of the location and the lake.
The place was exactly as it was described on VRBO. The host was wonderful. She checked us in and then left her number if we needed anything further (we did not).
This could be a place we return to!
This is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. Great Lake view and the house was immaculate. Very rustic but with all the modern amenities. We had family in the area for a wedding. The accommodations could not have been better. Isabella met us upon checkin and gave us a full overview of the place. Highly recommend and our family had a great time.
Overall nice-great place for a family reunion. we wish the kayak storage was closer to the lake.

Challenging stay
While the lake view was pretty and the house inside was overall clean, there were several challenges. There is no swimming in the lake and the outside of the property was not taken care of. There were weeds in the flower beds and growing through the patios and all of the flower pots were full of weeds. Inside of the house, the water continuously smelled like sulfur, the rotten eggs smell. It would not go away even after several days of using the water. There is no comfortable couches. They are made of hardwood with thin cushions. They're only two two-seater loveseats in the main sitting area. It was very hard to feel comfortable in the home. In the listing, it appears that there is a queen bed and a king bed. However, there is one queen bed and three twin beds. The futon in the basement does not fold out. I would not recommend washing any clothes because the sulfur smell is very strong in the laundry room and it recommends that you put vinegar in with your wash.
Came out for a wedding 10 minutes away. From the moment we arrived, the owner met and greeted my Family, made us feel welcome, and showed us the ropes of this stunningly beautiful and artistic home. My family loved all the little small touches she has put into the home. Everything was clean and tidy and it has a well stocked kitchen. I also ended up leaving an earbud there for my phone and she generously found it and shipped it back to me. Lovely experience 💕
The owner met us at the cabin. There were booklets with all local amenities. The weather was wonderful. The view of the lake was so pristine! We were able to have an outdoor pit fire under the stars. The home was immaculate. Would definitely return.
Very quiet and have lots of privacy. Nice lake view for morning coffee. The owner came to meet us and show us around. she is very responsive. The only draw back is I wish the WiFi situation can be improve. Again, having to not have good WiFi, it force us to put our phone down. I had the best girl talk w my teenager thru out the trip. Definitely recommend this place.
This place is not that massive log cabin with a dock in the picture. You can not have any other guests here. You can only drive 10 mph on the 2 mile rd leading up to the place or she will call you complaining. You will need a professional cleaning crew to come in after your stay or she will write a bad review. She checks in everyday and question’s everything going on. If you have any additional guests that’s a problem even one or two. If you smoke and are clean and respectful about it she will accuse you of smoking out the whole house. Don’t have any children over that have bed wetting issues. The outdoor chairs here are so old they break under normal usage. The wifi is horrible and barely worked the entire stay. The hot water smells so bad of sulfur, and rotten eggs you can’t take a hot shower without reeking of it, the second you turn the hot water on the entire kitchen and living room also reeks. Me and my 3 brothers rented this property for 10 days, we spent $4000 dollars and we’re extremely disappointed by the draconian efforts of ms leclerc. We had 2 guests the first night and we didn’t clean up all the trash the night before right away and she shows up bright and early calling and complaining. She accused us of leaving the doors open and letting bugs in, this place is on a lake!!! There is a light right next to all the doors, the second you open a door the massive herd of bugs that constantly surround this place attempt to get in! On top of that we all got eaten alive every time we were outside, she obviously doesn’t have any pest control. I guess she expects to never pay for cleaning and that the guests have to do it all. My brothers and I wanted to relax. After the first weekend of dealing with her we decided to just hang out elsewhere and only come to the chalet de lac to sleep in fear of losing our contract. A complete waste of money, if you’d like to spend some time on germantown lake I suggest getting a much cheaper hotel room in Warrenton and drive to the actual lodge with a dock and rent a boat there. Do not mess with this woman, she ruined mine and my brothers vacation, do not let her ruin yours.
If you are looking for a tranquil getaway, you could not ask for more. This home is situated in a remote spot with a great view. The interior is immaculate and beautifully decorated. Isabelle could not have been more accommodating. Would definitely go back!
We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend. On The Lake. The place was beautiful, secluded and quiet. Isabel was amazing! She clearly cares about the experience of her guests. She paid attention to all the little things that make a stay pleasant. The kitchens was well stocked, she had supplies for us (soap, paper towels, TP, etc). She had hampers in the closets, everything was organized and in its proper place. She thought of everything. Having the canoe and kayaks to use was an unexpected bonus and we were in them all weekend. We will definitely be back!
Relaxing and restful, secluded and cozy. Wide open night time skies and serene. The owner was super helpful in explaining all aspects of our stay. We were constantly commuting to DC, Alexandria, Fairfax, and Quantico for sightseeing and a retirement ceremony. Coming back to the cabin each evening felt comfortable and like coming home. Highly recommended.
We made a lot of trips to Civil War battlefields and this was a great place to come back to. We spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the lake and just being outside.
Isabelle's house had beautiful views with comfy beds. We used the boats, which were a great perk. The kitchen is stocked with all kinds of baking supplies, although no dry goods so pack your own. We loved eating outside on the deck! Messick's custard was a delightful trip and we hope to return to play on the playground and pick up more beer from Power's.
What a lovely getaway. We were so grateful for Isabelle's hospitality, her flexibility, and her graciousness. The cabin was cozy, clean, well kept and well-stocked with everything we needed. When our two kids got too hot in the house (it was 100F outside), she went out and purchased floor fans and a new AC unit, above and beyond expectations. She brought toys for the kids to play with too, and it was lovely to spend some time getting to know her and hear about her amazing family.
I would note that there were not many activities for small kids (we have a 5 year old and a 10 month old) so we brought our own outdoor play things. The lake is not swimable, but there are boats both on the property as well as across the lake at the park.
All in all, a lovely week of family time. Thank you!
What a magnificent place to stay! The cabin and property itself is a beautiful setting. The cabin is on a lake and our family took out the kayaks and canoe almost daily. The cabin is very clean and quaint with a wonderful view. The one mile drive back to the cabin is so pretty and filled with wildlife. But this property also has a great location. We had a bunch of wonderful day trips within an hour or so. While there we visited Luray Caverns, the Flying Circus, the skyline drive in the mountains, swam in a waterhole by a waterfall, visited Mt. Vernon and DC, and most evenings went to a local ice cream shop or cute little farmer’s market. Isabelle, the owner, was helpful and a delight to visit with. We really didn’t want to come home. We can’t wait to visit again!
This is a perfect location for a getaway. The views are beautiful and it's so peaceful. The water did have a strong sulfur smell during our stay. I'm not sure if that's always the case.
