About this property
Beautifully renovated country cottage located near Mclaren Vale's best wineries
Nestled on the Epicurean Way, in close proximity to some of the best wineries in Australia, Gabby's Cottage is the perfect country get away. It is the ideal location to explore the Southern Fleurieu, whether you love wine and great food, cycling, bush walking and beautiful countryside, it is all catered for.
The Cottage is a beautifully renovated circa 1850 iron stone cottage, with all modern ammenities and the perfect place to relax beside the fireplace and enjoy a quiet moment to yourself. Immerse yourself in the beautiful country setting with the sheep and alpacas in the paddock next to the cottage.
The Cottage is renovated with modern ammenities and has lots of natural light in the two front rooms with the addition of Velux skylights. It is a circa 1850 Iron stone cottage and has a great history within the area.
It is located on a 20 acre hobby farm, with horses, Australian ponies, alpacas and sheep located in the surrounding paddocks. The animals are friendly, particularly the two hand raised wethers, dumbo and rambo, who love carrots and pats.
The property is in close proximity to some of the best wineries in the region, including Yangarra Estate (2 minutes away), Woodstock, Beresford, Samuels Gorge and Chapel Hill wineries (all within 10 minutes away) to name a few.
In the bedroom, there are remote controlled block out blinds to ensure a good nights sleep and no early wake ups.
The lounge room has a nectre combustion fireplace and wood is provided to create that wonderful ambience.
Ducted reverse cycle heating and cooling will also ensure the home is at a comfortable temperature for your stay.
The kitchen contains gas cooktop and electric oven for ease, if you decide to cook. With integrated dishwasher, fridge and pantry, everything is concealed and easy to access.
Master bedroom has a king bed with ample storage for clothes in the custom wardrobes.
Fully equiped laundry with front loader washing machine for those on extended stays.
The skylight in the bathroom is perfectly placed to look up at the sky whilst relaxing and unwinding and features the exposed original wall for aesthetics.
Outside there are two options, the large bench seat to have a drink or bite to eat, or the alfresco, with table and barbecue for those beautiful balmy nights. It is under cover and has fans and outdoor blinds to make the space more comfortable.

About the host
Hosted by Nick
Having grown up in the suburbs, I love living out amongst the open space. We have loved renovating the Cottage and I am now a dry stone walling enthusiast, having built all the walls around the property. Gardening is also a passion of my partner, and this is evident in the beautiful cottage garden at the front of the cottage.
Why they chose this property
Clarendon is the perfect location to stay. It is close to the airport and city, and only 10 minutes away from local shopping centres, but still feels like you are a long way out in the country.
It is the perfect base to explore the southern fleurieu, we particularly like exploring the local wineries and restaurants, with Yangarra Estate a 2 minute drive down the road, and also Samuels Gorge another nearby favorite. There is some great bush walking in the nearby Onkaparinga Gorge or Kuitpo forest. We even have the Willunga Basin walking trail going past the front of the property. It is also close to the Willunga markets on weekends and some of the best beaches in Australia, with our favourite being Silver sands at Aldinga beach.

What makes this property unique
Nestled at the base of a hill, Gabby's Cottage is distinctive and well known in the area due to its beauty. The old iron stone walls stand out and are a key feature. The cottage has been been beautifully renovated, with large voids with velux sky lights to incorporate natural light into the front rooms and a new kitchen with all the mod cons. With a beautiful cottage garden and being located close to both the wineries and natural attractions in the area, it is the perfect base to explore one of the best regions in the country.
