About this property

Historic stone house by the river

This unique bicentennial historic but fully renovated stone house is located in the heart of Vieux-Beloeil, the old and touristic part of Beloeil. Beloeil is a charming little town by the river, facing the beautiful Mont Saint-Hilaire. The house was an actual inn in the early 19th century, until becoming a summer house for family and friends of my ancestors, who lived in the red brick house next door. It is within walking distance of everything in Vieux-Beloeil, with many restaurants, terraces, cafés, bars, breweries, boardwalk, marina just around the corner. You can't ask for a better location in the area! :-)

***One thing to note is that the ceilings are a bit low on the 2nd floor, with the original structural wooden beams at about 6 feet high (actual ceiling are about 6'10"). But it's all part of the charm! On the ground floor they are standard at 8'. ***

Also note that the house is not on the water directly, the street separates the house and our riverside.

We live staying at this house - this was our third year in a row staying here for a reading retreat weekend. The house is very unique, with it's mix of old and new (old house that is nicely updated inside.) Lots of character, and we love that it is walking distance to plenty of restaurants. Beautiful view as well!

The house itself from the outside was so charming and inside was so spacious and well thought out. We really had everything we could have needed and the loft bedroom was such a treat. It was really easy to adjust the home temperatures as outside was very up and down, and the hot tub running when we arrived was such a sweet little detail. Our host was beyond responsive, helpful, and flexible and the neighborhood was extremely accessible. Uber was very easy to get fortunately but had there been any issues there were also cab companies easy to find online. As English speaking Canadians we found everyone locally so sweet and accommodating and everything from the local coffee shop to trips into downtown Montreal felt like a romcom dream. Added bonus was the gorgeous church literally next door, and the view across the river! We will most definitely be back to visit again!

Charming getaway

We were so happy with our stay! The home had all the amenities we needed to enjoy a vacation with our small child. It is within short walking distance of many great restaurants with terraces and we enjoyed spending time watching boats on the river from the backyard. Excellent location for visiting family-friendly orchards.

Warm and inviting

We had a wonderful stay at this location, which was also an outstanding geographical location. It was a French getaway without having to go all the way to France! Everything was smooth from start to finish.

Fantastic Stay

We had a fantastic stay at this property! Martin was very quick to answer any questions we asked. We took his advise and walked up the street to Le Mista for a delicious supper. Such a unique, charming house with modern touches. Highly Recommend ‼️. Hope to be back in the future

One Hot Stay

Stone House was just as described, unique property, cute historical neighborhood. Watching life on the river was fun. Street is busy with traffic at times, but quiet in Stone House. Stone House was a very even temperature even though weather outside went from hot to cold.

Beautiful Location

My family and I really enjoyed this one of a kind house. The location couldn’t be better, you can easily walk to restaurants and a small market in town. There is a larger supermarket about a 5 minute drive away that has everything you could need. The kitchen was set up nicely for cooking. It was lovely to sit out in the yard and just watch the boats on the river with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. The house was very comfortable for our family of four (and our dog). It was unbelievably hot the week we visited, fortunately the upstairs has a large air conditioning unit, as does the attic suite. The downstairs stayed warm but it was literally in the 90s during our stay and we spent most of our time at the house outside enjoying the shade in the yard. We were able to explore Montreal with ease by driving to the town of Boucherville and taking the ferry, a pleasant 30 minute boat ride that drops you off right near Old town. Despite the heat we were able to hike the mountain on the other side of the river, the views from the top are stunning!Overall a wonderful stay in a very friendly small village. Make sure you drive across the river to get a bagel at the shop next to the church!

Anniversary Vacation

We had a relaxing and exciting time during our week, enjoying most of the amenities the owner had to offer, including the hot tub during the cooler nights later in the week. Very relaxing! We also enjoyed steak kebobs and corn on the cob on the grill in the yard the night of our 20th wedding anniversary. The 3rd floor bedroom was sooo relaxing, which is actually a spacious attic that was renovated to create a large living space. We appreciated the owner's several suggestions for dining options Boleil. We loved the village and so many fine restaurants to choose from. Highly recommended!

What a perfect home!

This house made you feel immediately at home. Every single gadget was in the kitchen, when you were cooking a meal. There were ample pots and cooking dishes for a proper, Christmas meal. The house is even bigger than the pictures demonstrate! The heated floors made all the difference on the cold winter days. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Beautiful stone house on the river

My family and I loved our stay here and highly recommend to others. The location felt historic and romantic - removed from every day life - while still being close enough to restaurants, shopping and Montreal. The house itself was beyond perfect. We hoped it would live up to the wonderful photos - it did, and then some. The family’s pride of ownership is evident, and the home has the comforts of modern day while maintaining the feel of days long past. The home is very clean, surprisingly very private for being close to old Belœil, and the host is super welcoming. Many thanks to the owners for opening their very special property to us. I hope we have a chance to stay here again, we loved every minute of it!

Old World Charm, Modern Amenities

I left my heart in Beloeil! This place is a perfectly imperfect 200 year old home that holds so much character & history! It was nestled in by the river which led to a beautiful walk to many great cafes and restaurants. The people in this little town were so welcoming and hospitable! You can enjoy some of the best French cuisine or grab an ice cream and sit under a lit tree and watch the scenery. The home provided everything my family of 5 could need, the beds were comfortable, the space was great, the kitchen was stocked. I always pick a unique stay on our trips and this home did not disappoint!

PERFECT stay for our wedding weekend!

We rented this beautiful house in Beloeil in conjunction with the big brick house, which is also made available by the same owner (Martin) on VRBO, for our wedding weekend. It was the most perfect place for our wedding festivities and family reunion. From the very beginning, communication with Martin was very clear and he was always available to answer our questions. The house made a beautiful backdrop for all of our wedding photos and was the perfect location to get ready for the big day. It was modern (despite being an old historic house) and had all of the amenities we needed. It is centrally located in Vieux-Beloeil which made it easy to walk into town to go out for dinner or get some ice cream. It is also not so far from Montreal, so if you are visiting and want to get into town, it is easy to get there. We are already thinking of when we will be coming back to this house, perhaps in a different season, because we enjoyed our stay so much. We would highly recommend this stay to anyone!

We will be back!

My wife and I stayed here during a romantic get-away and were blown away by how charming this place is. We slept in the third floor/attic bedroom and we found it to be so very cozy. Modern kitchen with lots of room and counter space. The heated concrete floors on the 1st floor were amazing. For a building that's over 200 years old it was warm and we didn't notice any drafts. The neighborhood is charming and you're 5 min walk or less to many shops, restaurants, coffee shops and you can walk along the riverfront. We didn't get the chance to use the hot tub since it was extremely cold while we were there. The owner was always ready to answer any questions we had and would respond quickly.

The property was charming and unique. A historic house with updated kitchen and bathrooms including a huge shower and tub. There were plenty of rooms and beds for a large group. Big livingroom attached to kitchen was perfect for family activities. Hot tub in secluded courtyard was a bonus. We enjoyed strolling along the river walkway enjoying the views, church and cafes. We ventured the 40 minutes into Montreal each day to explore the sights. I would highly recommend this place. Host had great communication as well.
