The house was perfect for our visit. The views of the lake was amazing, the house was very comfortable and we spend a few nights sitting around in the living room watching the snow. Yacine was so welcoming and accomodating to our last minute needs, and the place was perfrectly stocked with all the things we might need. Checkin was clear, simple and easy. Would stay again - maybe in the summer to enjoy the water!
Thank you, Yacine, for sharing your chalet with us. We had a wonderful summer week relaxing in the hot tub, taking the boats out on the water, and enjoying the sunsets. Some parts of the property need some upkeep (see below). For the price point, we expected a more luxurious stay. Pros: Stunning lake views from deck/backyard, clean and well-working hot tub, access to bike trail, a nearby farmer's market, boats/kayaks, modern HVAC, large indoor/outdoor tables that fit the whole group, comfy beds, plenty of towels and bedding, modern washer/dryer, quiet and clean neighborhood.Cons:-Two poor shower options: the basement shower had weak, trickling pressure, while the upstairs shower had an awkward waist-high handheld head (hard to wash your upper body one-handed) and drained poorly, leaving you standing in ankle-deep dirty water.-Basement bedroom is damp, dark, cold, buggy, and has no door separating it from the common space — one guest woke up repeatedly to bugs crawling on her.-Boats are stored 50m from the water's edge, making them hard to drag down, especially alone.-Overall dinginess and disrepair don't match a luxury price point — some wear is fine at a lower price, but not here.Needs repair/improvement:-Paddleboat rudder doesn't steer — someone had to jump out and swim/push the boat to shore; we couldn't get far.-Dishwasher works poorly; most dishes were hand-washed.-House needs more than 3 drinking glasses.-Basement needs carpeting and bug treatment.

Thank you for your stay and for your feedback.
For the benefit of potential future guests, I will address every "cons" issue you mentioned.
The Chalet is a good quality expensive house. The rental price is reflective of the high value of the property in a prime lake front location within the city of Montreal. Houses in this neighborhood are in the millions of dollars because on a “large lake” shore, large lots and location. With that also comes very high operating costs, especially very high local municipal taxes, gardener's hours to maintain the yard, upkeep and continued improvements and maintenance.
Basement bedroom is clearly shown in the photographs as being part of a large space. There is also a curtain to close the bedroom and separate it from the rest of the large area. .
Basement dampness. I disagree that the basement is damp. The house being near a lake, the outside is sometimes more humid especially when it rains. To that effect, in addition to the built-in de-humidification feature of the new whole house AC system, I have added a quiet high efficiency de-humidifier in the basement that is programmed to maintain the humidity of the whole house low. The only reason you might have found the basement damp is if you have left the basement door open for sometime while enjoying the hot tub or for some other reasons. That would bring in some humidity from outside that would be removed by the de-humidifier when the door is closed.
Bugs in the basement. If you leave the basement door open, some bugs might get inside as they would in any house.
Carpet for basement. The basement was recently renovated to nice porcelain tiles. I will consider your suggestion of adding carpets.
Basement is dark. The basement has several large windows facing south and west, all afternoon the sun fills up the basement. In terms of lighting, there are plenty of LED sport lights.
Dishwasher: It is a quality Bosch machine, I went to test it and it worked fine, I verified the filter and it was clean. I do not know what to say, maybe the wrong cycle was run or forgot detergent.
Bath tub: It is true it is an older bath tub from the 80s and the shower that came with it is a bit dated design. I will see if I can upgrade the shower. Regarding drainage, you are right, it was slow. I removed some hair from the drain filter which was causing the obstruction and it immediately drained very well afterward. 1 minute fix.
Basement shower: You are right, the water flow was a little slow. That is because this shower is a recent addition and the shower head is a “modern”, “water saving” type, deliberately reducing the water flow to conserve water and energy. I removed the water reducing device from the head and now the flow is higher. It took me about 10 minutes to fix.
Glasses: I checked and there were over a dozen glasses in addition to coffee cups etc... Not sure what happened that you only saw 3.
Boats: I appreciate that depending on the individuals, some of the boats may be difficult to carry or move alone. These are standard consumer grade kayaks, canoes and pedal boats. They are placed at a safe distance from the beach in order to reduce/avoid theft. Regarding the pedal boat, I checked and both pedal boats seemed fine, not sure what the issue is with the rudder, I will try them myself later.
In closing, I need to add that I did communicate via Vrbo chat with you a couple of days prior to your arrival and stated that if anything was not OK or you needed something during your stay to not hesitate to contact me. I also came to say hello personally upon your arrival and re-iterated that if anything was not ok or if anything was needed to contact me. You did not do so. I believe that most of the "cons" that you stated, I would have promptly addressed them should you have contacted me.
Our family (ranging in age from 10-85) stayed at this lovely home for the holidays. Great location, beautiful view and home had everything you could need. Very responsive host, with the house easy to find and access. Four great bedrooms on the top floor with final bed located in the basement. Lots of space on the main floor and spectacular views from the main floor windows. Highly recommend.
I live in the neighborhood and I am generally available if needed.
