Great room and check-in, but a safety nightmare in the jacuzzi
Our stay at Oaks Sunshine Coast Oasis Resort had a fantastic start. The room itself was excellent—clean, spacious, and exactly what we needed. I also have to give credit where it's due: the young man who checked us in was absolutely spot on. He was professional, friendly, and made the arrival process seamless.
Unfortunately, the positive first impression didn't last. When my partner went to the reception desk to collect our complimentary bottle of wine, the female staff member on duty gave her a really dismissive and shady attitude. It was unnecessarily rude and left a sour taste.
The biggest issue, however, was the jacuzzi. We had been looking forward to a relaxing soak after a long day, (my partner had a paddle race) but when we arrived, the spa was completely overrun by roughly 10 very young children using it as a splash pool. When we attempted to turn the jets on, the children started throwing a fit because it interrupted their play. To make matters significantly worse, the roughhousing was so out of control that one of the girls kicked my partner hard directly in her private area. She was in genuine pain and she wanted to leave immediately.
This is a serious safety and liability concern. I understand the resort is family-friendly, but a jacuzzi is not a kiddie pool. Allowing that many young children to roughhouse in a confined, hot-water space is not only disruptive. We left the hotel feeling frustrated.
