Very nice and clean hotel. Rooms were very spacious. Bathrooms could use an updating since the looked dated in contrast to the rest of the room

The property has the potential to be really something special. The rooms are nice and large and I like the inner and outer bathroom sinks.I also loved the window seat in the room. But the room needs better lighting and perhaps a desk or some other surface. The work out room needs a major overhaul (signage indicated this is coming). The complimentary breakfast was good.
Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Very nice staff. Loved the location. Close to Clark Institute

WiFi was very weak and spotty. Breakfast was comparable to a budget motel

I was very disappointed because they hotel advertised that there was a bar on the property but there was no bar or restruarant. And the breakfast was very disappointing. The deluxe breakfast was coffee, juice, toast, apples and small blueberry muffins.
Based on the 3.5 star rating, the 8+ customer review, and glowing photographs, I was expecting something else. Something nice. Something maybe even a little fancy. And while The Orchards Hotel might have been nice at one point, that point somewhere in the early 2000s or 90s.
Among the highlights:
-A bedspread with large holes near the foot of the bed (the holes were initially covered by a strange, decorative sash that had been draped across the bed)
-The worst "continental breakfast" I have ever seen.
-Strange brown crust on the exterior of the bathroom cabinets
-An old pink toilet, pink tub, and pink bathroom tiles (with cracked grout), all of which must have dated from the 1980s
-A water heater that took up half the closet and which had been haphazardly hidden with some drywall that hadn't been painted
-A restaurant and bar that was not operational and had been closed for months.

There's an old-world elegance to the place. I'd liken it to visiting the home of an elderly, well-off grandmother. A place with faded glory.

A classic old hotel which has seen better days.
Despite a spacious room, which was quite well equipped, this hotel did not live up to our expectations and was overpriced. We were profoundly disappointed to discover that the hotel bar and restaurant was closed in July, despite the Hotels.com website stating that there is a bar and restaurant.
Overall, the hotel is very tired, with a musty smell and worn carpets and decor.
Our room was a generous size, very clean and comfortable. There were a lot of extras included - such as turn down service with cookies and his/hers bathrobes and slippers, in addition to the usual items. Coffee/tea station is 24/7, rather than a coffee maker in room. Please note there is a front desk (our reservation stated there was no front desk and we'd have to contact the hotel for instructions). The front desk staff was very helpful in assisting us with area restaurants, etc.

Not what it once was...
Many issues - shower was clogged, staff didn't appear to want to be there, the restaurant is closed (like out of business closed). A fire alarm started going off at 7 am and there was NO communication as to why or if it was real? Went to the desk and there was nobody to be found. The place appears to be headed downhill fast. At about 7:40 a guy came barging in the room with one knock looking to take luggage, we hadn't asked for luggage service at all, we were nowhere near checking out because "breakfast" didn't start unitl 8 am. Used to be a nice place but now it is simply overpriced and it appears to be in trouble.
Really enjoyed the stay. The room was large. With lots of storage. The bathroom had double sinks and all was clean. Don’t undetermined negative reviews about cleanliness.
The Orchards Hotel is a very nice hotel, situated east of Williamstown, making it convenient for Mass MoCA. It has a continental breakfast, with fresh fruit and pastries. However, it is showing its age a bit, and our three-night stay was not satisfactory.
My wife and I checked in a little after 4:00 PM on a Friday for a 3-day event at Mass MoCA. We smelled an odor of what we thought was some heavy-handed air freshener. We were late for a Mass MoCA event, so we rushed out and did not get back until late evening.
The next morning, the overwhelming smell was still there, and we noticed the carpeting at the food of the bed was wet. We pointed this out to the front desk on the morning of Saturday, and we were told that the situation would be addressed. On the way back to our room, we noticed that we were the only room with a hole where a refrigerator should have been.
Because of a late event at Mass MoCA on Saturday, we did not return to our room until after midnight, which still had an overwhelming stench. I opened the casement window for a while, which fell apart when I tried to crank it shut.
In the morning, my wife and I were both congested and my wife's eyes were puffy. The manager was kind enough to move us to a different room, so at least the last night was pleasant.
At this point, most of our clothes were permeated with the smell and needed to be dry-cleaned or laundered. No billing adjustment has been made as of this point.
