About this property
Luxury Holiday Cottage in the Heart of the English Lake District
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 7. ONE SMALL DOG CONSIDERED ON REQUEST. SORRY, No CATS.
Troutbeck Cottage is a traditional stone-built Lakeland terraced cottage built in the mid-19th century. It is located at Troutbeck Bridge, in the heart of the Lake District close to Windermere just off the main road to Ambleside and Grasmere.
The cottage provides comfortable and homely self-catering accommodation for up to three guests. The property is ideal for couples and small families looking for a relaxing break and offers the perfect base from which to explore this outstanding part of England. We have a Visit England Four Star Gold Award rating.
The cottage is particularly suitable for those traveling to the Lake District without a car. Troutbeck Bridge is a short bus or taxi ride away from Windermere Station where there are regular trains from Oxenholme, connecting with the main routes between London and Glasgow/Edinburgh. There is a bus stop at the end of our street with regular services to Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere, Keswick and Kendal.
The accommodation consists of a lounge with wood-burning stove, a compact but well equipped dining kitchen room and two ensuite bedrooms. The lounge is furnished with traditional seating and period-style, quality furniture. We provide unlimited fibre internet access, a widescreen 40″ Samsung 4k TV with Netflix and Freesat and a surround sound speaker system. There is a UHD/Blu-ray player and a CD player with DAB/FM/Internet radio. There is a good selection of books, CDs and videos and general information covering the Lake District.
Also on the ground floor is a fitted dining kitchen which is well equipped with an electric induction hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer. There is a comprehensive range of Villeroy & Boch porcelain, cutlery and glassware.
Upstairs, the main double bedroom at the front of the cottage has views towards Claife Heights in the distance. A standard size double bed is provided. The bedroom has reproduction French-style period furniture and an en-suite shower room. This bedroom has a bright and airy feel to it which is complemented by the exposed beam and period furnishings. The second bedroom has a single bed and also has an en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms have wall-mounted Samsung TVs. All bedlinen is included.
The marble-tiled en-suite shower rooms have digital electronic shower valves, heated towel rails and Christy Egyptian-cotton towels and complimentary toiletries.
Gas central heating is installed with radiators in all rooms.
Outside there is a small seating area to the front of the cottage which faces south and is a real sun trap. At the rear, there is a shared courtyard leading to the open fields and fells beyond. Within the rear courtyard, Troutbeck Cottage has its own allocated parking space for one vehicle.
Please note that we have a no-smoking policy. The cottage is not well suited for dog owners due to space limitations but we will consider taking 1 small dog on request - please enquire before booking. Sorry, we do not accept cats.
