This family house measures 1300 ft2 on a private terrain of nearly 2 acres. It is situated remotely in the middle of protected nature at the eastside of the Rhone valley where the Alps start, but still close to facilities and sightseeing. Just outside the hills, touristic routes wander through lavender fields, vineyard, olive trees and sunflower fields to medieval villages and castles to visit. Closest by is Nyons which is the local center of activities, famous for its olive oil production. Within an hour drive you can visit larger cities with Roman remains like Orange and Avignon. Daily facilities like a bakery can be found at 2 miles. A variety of supermarkets within a radius of 4 miles. And always some market going on in a village nearby. Starting right from the house you can hike or bike in an ever changing landscape of forest, green meadow and rough rocks. Up the hills you can have a beautiful view over the Rhone valley and on the Mont Ventoux. Children can enjoy themselves in creeks nearby, search for fossils and swim in the pool of course. The pool measures 5x10 meters and is completely private.

We had already come 3 years ago, but this time we found the house to be aging, the cleanliness not at the top, the fuel smells and boiler noises in the master bedroom increased, the swimming pool not secure anymore for children and the sails of the shadows removed. Pleasant stay even if teenagers will not appreciate the TV channels in Dutch and the ultra-limited internet speed from halfway through the stay.
Quiet and very pleasant environment, close to amenities.
Reactive maintenance team (pool and Philippe).
Not sure that the asking price is still justified.

Thanks for your review. We have considered the critics seriously. We found a new person to increase the cleanliness and replaced some of the furniture. Now waiting for the moment that the village will offer us fiber internet.

Great retreat.
Fantastic place summer and winter. All conveniences available. Ideal to relax, to work, to retreat, to sport, to do whatever you like.
We retreated a week from busy life late autumn. Cycled (it takes some effort), walked and cooked in the great kitchen with a Godin woodstove.
Good stereo for a noisy moment in the silence.
Wonderful bath after a cold walk. The water as hot as you like. Sitting outside looking at the stars.
Environment is inspiring. Microclimate is special as the nature shows with olive trees and scrubwoods. Villages as pittoresk as you can think of.
Don’t go for glamour and design. The place has a rough french beauty and is as functional as we wanted it to be.
We love it.

Excellent stay
We had an excellent stay. We were with a group of 6 friends. The house is spacious enough for a group of 6.
It is a charming French house on the hill with lots of privacy. The surroundings are beautiful.
The accommodation has all the facilities you need for a pleasant stay. There is a good size pool which is a must have in these area on warm days.
We would difenitly book again.

About the host
Hosted by Jaap Both
We are a Dutch family living near Arnhem in the Netherlands. We used to spend many of our holidays in France and one day we came across this house which in our view was a rare opportunity. We hope you enjoy it as much as we still do.
Why they chose this property
We bought this house because we enjoy nature and privacy but do not want to be in the middle of nowhere either. We like the diverse possibilities to combine relaxing, hiking, ancient sightseeing and enjoy the scenery. It is a nice bike ride of 15 min to the nearest bakery and in close by Nyons there are many nice restaurants and always something is going on in summer. Also large supermarkets are within 10 minutes drive. The geographical location near the Rhone valley and south of Lyon ensures a climate with a lot of good weather.
