Once we sorted the heating out it was really very good, all that you need was provided, very clean and central to all amenities.

The cottage is cosy, homely and full of character.
The cottage is cosy, homely and full of character. It is generally spacious and clean and is in a fantastic location to access the amenities of Windermere town centre, with Bowness a 20-30 minute walk away. The kitchen is pretty well equipped, with fridge, freezer, washing machine (although this was out of order when we stayed), cooking utensils etc. The shower was good and the spa bath a nice surprise. It would be even better to know that feedback from customers is being acted upon, as I agree with other reviewers about the shortage of cutlery and the issues with the heating, which seemed to be on permanently (in a hot July) and no instructions on how to control it or set a timer. Turning down the thermostat made only a small difference. Perhaps some "guest information" inside the cottage might be helpful on this topic? One of the most important things to note, is that if you have anything other than a very small car, the "dedicated parking space" is no good. Be aware! However, despite this, the cottage was certainly very comfortable with lots of charm and we certainly enjoyed our stay, which is why I've still given it a high rating.

Caxton nook was a very comfortable place to stay.
Caxton nook was a very comfortable place to stay. The beds were very comfortable. Everything works, heating, good WiFi, tv etc. However, the whole place would benefit from an upgrade and redecoration, there was evidence of damp in the kitchen/dining area, hence my value for money score.

A comfortable and spacious ground floor apartment, in a pleasant and convenient location, close to the centre of Windermere. The lounge is a good size. The only issue we had was with the central heating. The apartment was nice and warm when the heating was on, but it didn't come on early enough in the mornings for us and went off too early in the evenings, and we couldn't find out how to control it.
