The locals as well as visitors come from all around to check out the food stalls, fresh fish, cheese, meats, speciality produce and vegetables, which are all are colourfully displayed. Other stalls contain local handicrafts as well as the usual clothes and entertainment stalls.
The town itself has all the amenities. Two large supermarkets and several smaller ones, a hospital, clinics, doctors, dentists, shops, boutiques, garages, restaurants, bakeries, bars and everything you normally need.
Bordeaux (1hr) and Bergerac (25 mins) are famous wine producing regions and the French are known for their cuisine. The vineyards and medieval village of Sainte Emilion are a 40 minute drive from the gite. However, there is so much more to the area than eating the superb food and drinking the heavenly wine.
Chateaux, bastide towns, prehistoric cave paintings, water sports, boules, go-karting, golf and horseriding to name just a few of the other things you can do and see. The last battle of the 100 years war was fought 30 minutes away from the gite at Castillon la Bataille and it is re-enacted every year which is an amazing spectacle. The river is the focus of much activity and throughout the year there are numerous firework displays that light up the Dordogne in all its glory.
There is also canoeing, fishing, go-karting, golf, horse-riding, jet-skiing within easy reach of the gite.

Why they chose this property
We think this property occupies a little corner of paradise - but we are biased!! However, it's setting - nestled in the middle of 7 acres of land, with green fields and woods - fully enclosed with the additional security of electric gates - means that you can relax in complex confidence and just enjoy the tranquility whilst nursing a glass of your favourite tipple! Due to the lack of surrounding properties, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the countryside, birds singing, trees gently rustling, the smell of the grass and the flowers. You can gaze at the stars, resplendent in the magnificent and vast night sky, and unspoilt by any ambient light. This is why we love it and we think you would too!!
