Rather mixed
The position of this property is fantastic, although our overall impression was somewhat spoilt because of extreme weather which resulted in leaks from the bay window. We also had a problem with the shower in the en-suite. Having said this we cannot fault the owner's response to these difficulties as she made a personal visit to try and sort out the shower and had previously had remedial work done to the bay window. However, the décor and cleanliness are of a high standard and the beds comfortable

Thank you for the positive comments you have made. I am so glad you enjoyed our decor, cleanliness, comfortable beds and also our 'fantastic' location.
I'm sorry the weather was so dramatic during your stay. We do get some wonderful weather, often at unexpected times of year, and our beach is second to none for walks and traditional seaside activities. In bad weather we often get storm chasers and keen photographers, who love to see the waves lashing high over the lighthouse. These amazing seas can be viewed from the windows of our flats, in the comfort of their living rooms.
I'm sorry there were two repair issues during your stay. Thank you for pointing out our prompt response to these. The shower has had a new thermostatic bar fixed and is now back to normal functionality. We have now discovered that the bay window roof leak was due to some cracks appearing in the outside render above the roof, which allowed water ingress in driving rain. These have been sealed and there has been no sign of water reappearing - even during a subsequent violent downpour.
To reassure future guests, please can I point to our overall five star/10/10 review status on this and other sites. With the best will in the world, all properties will have the occasional repair issue. What matters is the owner's response to these. We feel we are always worth 10/10 for this service. We have been renting these two apartments for approximately 3 years now, and repair requirements have been rare occurrences.

This is a lovely flat in a great area, good parking. Only negative I could say is that the floor boards creak a lot, did feel a little Awkward for the flat below. Saying that the place is very lovely.

Very disappointed especially during these COVID times
It is with a heavy heart that I leave this review for our stay in August 2020. I cannot understand where all these 5 star reviews come from. When we arrived there was a half empty carton of orange juice left in a dirty fridge. Some of the glasses and cutlery were dirty. There was no light bulb in the hallway in the basement area so incredibly dark. Some of the bulbs had blown in the living area space. There was clutter eg ladders, buckets etc in the cupboards. The place needed painting as there was loads of scuff marks on the walls especially in the staircase area. It had a great view of Roker but the windows were so dirty and there were lots of cobwebs in the windows. It clearly wasn't cleaned to a standard especially during the COVID pandemic and you are charged a fee for cleaning!!!!
On a positive the apartment is ideally situated and the coffee shop (only opening 10am till 2pm twice a week) is great. The beds were comfy too with clean sheets.
I have taken photos of everything I have said in this review. Shame there is no option to post them with this review.
I understand how important reviews are for businesses and I was so disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment that we left after 2 days and would rather spend the last day at home.

First of all, I’m so sorry your holiday experience was not a happy one. As you say, almost all our previous reviewers have left glowing reviews. I do wish you had contacted us on arrival as we would have responded to your concerns immediately. Looking at the points you have made then. I’m so sorry about the orange juice. I have highlighted this oversight to our cleaning team as well as asking them to check all crockery, cutlery, pans and glassware. We hadn’t noticed the missing bulb in the downstairs hallway which must have been removed by a previous guest. I’ve asked for this to be replaced at once. However, even without it I can’t agree that the area is ‘incredibly dark’. The lighting in the living area is controlled by three wall switches. From what you say, it seems likely that one of them was not switched on – which can give the impression that some of the wall light bulbs are out. If you had contacted us, we could have helped you locate the correct switches. The ladder and bucket etc in the boiler cupboard are facilities which are there for guests to use, so I can't agree that those are a negative. Due to the windows of the flat facing directly on to the sea, they do sometimes become coated in sand in between our regular window cleans, particularly if we have high winds/storms. We charge only a small contribution towards your final clean which we feel is a very fair price and much less than other similar apartments. To clean the flat actually costs us around 3 times what we charge, depending on the number of guests. Coles Coffee is currently advertising opening hours between 9 and 3, (closed Sunday and Monday). Many places have very different opening hours to normal at the moment, due to the virus. I do know that the row of restaurants and coffee bars down on the prom (five minute’s walk) are open a good variety of hours at the moment. I’m glad you enjoyed the comfy beds and clean linen. You are right that good reviews are important to us. For future customers, if you have any issues, please do contact us and let us have the chance to correct any occasional and rare oversight.

We felt really comfy and at home here. The view from the lounge was great and the flat was warm and well equipped. Both bathrooms were downstairs so we had 1 each! Elderly mum had bedroom on same floor as lounge and 3rd toilet, so she was also happy.
Beds comfy and rooms wonderfully quiet all night. Look forward to staying again. Parking off road a bonus. Just loved it.

Das ist eine schöne Wohnung direkt in Strandnähe. Die Wohnung ist schön eingerichtet, obwohl uns einige Küchenhelfer gefehlt haben. Es gibt sogar 3 Toiletten. Wir haben die morgendlichen Sparziergänge am Strand bei Ebbe genossen. In der Nähe gibt es einige schöne Restaurants bzw. Cafés wo man gut essen kann. Lebensmittelläden sind auch relativ nah. Sollten wir noch mal eine Wohnung in dieser Gegend mieten, würden wir wieder versuchen, die Wohnung zu bekommen.

Extremely satisfied
We stayed for eight weeks, and were very happy with the unit. The views from the bay window are fabulous, while we were there, we watched the tall ships arrive and then leave again,also the air show. We didn’t have to leave the house to see all of this. We stayed here for six weeks in 2016 and if we return to England again, we would definitely stay here again. It is close to bus stops, right on the beach and in walking distance to eating places.

Exceptional Choice
We were fortunate enough to be able to book a 6-night stay on very short notice. Beautiful, comfortable, and inviting accommodation with a wonderful view of the pier, lighthouse, and North Sea from the bay window in the dining area (even better than the photos). Have breakfast and watch the sun rise. Perfect location for exploring the region (Hadrian's Wall, Durham, the beach) though we did stay in two days just to relax and enjoy the apartment. Convenient reserved parking, easy access, everything we needed was supplied; impressive from the moment we arrived. Highly recommend this rental.

Wish I could live here
Fantastic accommodation, wonderful view of sea from sofa, all amenities you require in flat.
Karen the landlady goes above and beyond what you could expect from anyone to ensure you enjoy your time here even posted a birthday card that my mum had mistakenly left behind!
Will definitely return here and highly recommrecommend it.

Fabelhafter Blick vom Frühstückstisch aus schöner Ferienwohnung
Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin war in Vorwege schon prima gelaufen. Wir hatten direkt vor dem Haus einen eigenen Parkplatz und so konnten wir die Wohnung leicht erreichen.
Ein wundervoller, nach oben offener Flur zu den verschiedenen Ferienswohnungen führte uns zu unserer Erdgeschosswohnung.
Alle Zimmer sind stilvoll und neuwertig eingerichtet. Die Küche ist optisch abgetrennt und sehr schön eingerichtet verbunden mit dem Wohnzimmer, was aber keinen Nachteil darstellte.
Die Betten waren relativ hart, wenngleich die Matrazen neuwertig erschienen. Insofern liegt dieser Punkt immer im persönlichen Ermesssensspielraum des Nutzers, dem einen gefällt eine harte matraze, dem anderen nicht.
Der Blick aus dem Wohnzimmerfenster in Richtung Meer ist fabelhaft. Insgesamt gibt es drei Bäder, so dass auch mit mehreren Personen kein Stress aufkommt.
Fahrradfahrer, Jogger, Wanderer können sich an der tollen Küste wirklich austoben.
Die Wohnung und die Vermieterin kann ich empfehlen.

Wonderful apartment in a perfect location
This apartment is lovely and the view from the window and access to the waterfront are ideal. Beds were comfortable, and the apartment was warm, even in January. Karen, the owner responded quickly to all emails. The independent Cole Coffee Shop is directly across the street and serves amazing coffee. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant and a great pub just a block away. We walked everywhere we needed to go, including to the National Glass Center, which we highly recommend. We were lucky with sunny, warm-for-January weather for two days. I got up early for sunrise photos from the pier and was back in the apartment within twenty minutes. We also walked along the oceanfront to the local parks. Roker is wonderful and the apartment is just fabulous!

Fabulous accommodation!
Flat 4 is a stunning little apartment with every home comfort! Our three night stay there while visiting friends over New Year was just perfect! It is tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Karen, the landlady has thought of every last detail down to the soft fluffy towels, comfortable beds, toiletries and tea, coffee and biscuits. As an ex Roker resident, I really loved the photographs and old paintings of Roker on all of the walls.
The views of the old pier and the sea from the windows are amazing anyway but my passion is to get outside and onto the beach in the early hours of the morning to photograph the beautiful sunrises over the North East coastline. On the days of our stay i was well rewarded as the skies were truly spectacular over the sea! Some of the dawn watching photographers I spoke to had travelled up from Yorkshire in the wee small hours of 2nd Jan just for the experience and all I had done was hop over the road. Returning to the flat for breakfast was bliss as it was toasty warm and very peaceful.
The whole stay was an absolute delight! In fact if this little gem of an apartment ever goes up for sale I'll be first in the queue to buy it! We loved it.

Perfect weekend hideaway
Fantastic apartment on the sea front with wonderful views out to sea and close to all amenities. Stayed here to attend a swimming gala at the aquatic centre which was a great location for the event but also meant we could enjoy our down time in a lovely , clean and well equipped apartment, so much better than an impersonal hotel. Will definitely be booking again, thanks

The standard of the decor in the apartment was first rate. Everything was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of restaurants and eateries all close by. The views from the lounge window were stunning. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. We will definitely be using this property again and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others.

My two apartments were chosen because of their high specification and their position on the sea front. They are in arguably the best spot on the whole seafront. Close to the lighthouse. Opposite the entrance to a path leading directly down to a sandy beach and several places to eat and drink. Close to bus stops. Amazing sea views. Comfortable and quiet.
