About this property

The Old Fire Station - self contained studio apartment.

The Old Fire Station is charming, quaint and quirky. The building has had a varied life ! Originally built to house the town Fire Pump - later converted to the town conveniences !! and later used as a store.

It is strategically placed in the heart of the town, amid all the hustle and bustle.

The space is fully equipped with everything that you would need for a 'break away'.

You will have the use of the whole building and a small - but private - outside seating area.

Although the building is situated in the heart of the town -it is well insulated against the hustle and bustle. It is quite quirky staying in the old town Fire Station !

Smart property in Breckland

Smart and quirky little property that was a great base for exploring some of the interesting parts of the Brecks, including some excellent nature reserves, and historic sites like Grimes Graves. It's handy for the station, which we used for day trips to Norwich and Cambridge. It's in a busy and noisy part of town, but we coped fine with that - and it means it's handy for shops and pubs!

Perfect little home with everything you need.

We just spent 2 weeks here & we couldn't be more pleased. Upon arrival & an easy check-in, we were welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine & flowers on the counter along with some teabags & even a pint of milk in the fridge for a cuppa, which after traveling from the US, was much appreciated. The home was sparkling clean with absolutely everything we needed & some thoughtful extras too (hairdryer, fan, clothes drying rack, board games & soft couch throws). The double bed was super comfy and the oversized shower always had plenty of hot water. The futon allowed for extra sleeping space if needed too. The TV had plenty of channels & the wifi was fast & reliable. As this home sits in a prime location in the heart of the town, you will hear some traffic so if you are a light sleeper, I suggest just bringing some earplugs to ensure a restful night's sleep. Staying here puts you within walking distance or a very short car ride of everything Brandon has to offer, when ch was super handy. Communication with our host was seamless & I can definitely recommend this home for either a short or longer stay.

This is a beautiful property in a good location. My overall thoughts on the place are as follows: 1) Communication: After I booked the property the owner emailed me directions on how to find the place and how to get in and where to park. I originally thought this is great, but it didn't turn out that way. Her email said "there was parking for one car-if you have two cars - please leave one vehicle on the road." It turns out regardless of how many vehicles you have, you must park on the street. Street parking is limited close by, so be prepared to walk a block or two. Getting into the property had my anxiety up! Her email said "the door will be open and the Key Safe code is ***- please help yourself." The door was not open and there is a code for that and it's not the same as the key safe. I tried calling with no answer, so I left a message and waited 15 minutes for a return call, which never came. I called again and this time was able to speak with her where she told me the instructions with the door code were emailed to me. I had all my emails with me and there were no instructions to get in other that the key safe code. She gave me the code for the door and said if I had any other problems to call her. 2) Amenities: She left me a bottle of Pino which was nice. There were clean towels and sheets. There is a hair dryer, iron, oven, stove, utensils, mugs, glasses, wine glasses, tea plates, pot to heat water, but no dinner plates Overall a good place, but ask questions!

Why they chose this property

It is quite quirky staying in the old town Fire Station ! Brandon is a small market town. Famous for its Flint Knapping.

The local Country Park has wonderful walking and little coffee shop.

A few miles away you can find High Lodge - a wonderful exciting day out in Thetford Forest. If you are feeling really fit try out Go Ape - I am told its really good fun but exhausting !

Brandon is well placed and equal distance to Kings Lynn. Ipswich and Norwich. Norwich is my local City where you can find everything you would want - everything !

Bury St Edmunds is a thriving local market town with great independent shops and Abbey ruins.

For the Dads Army fans - you can visit the museum in Thetford - many famous episodes were filmed in the surrounding areas.

The fantastic north Norfolk coast is about one hour from your accommodation - wonderful seascapes - seals - Sandringham - all the joys of Norfolk.

What else can I say ? - come and visit us.

What makes this property unique

This little apartment feels like 'home from home'. It is modern yet comfortable with a sofa bed if you have little ones travelling with you.

The dining area comfortably seats a couple for a romantic evening meal.

The bathroom has plenty of hot water and a fully tiled wet room - giving you extra space !

The bed is a normal size double bed with feather duvet and pillows. If you need a polyester pillow please bring your favourite from home.

The outside area has a small eating area and smoking shelter. Please make sure that you smoke outside in the shelter and all your butts are removed and taken with you when you leave. Its a bit disgusting to ask my cleaners to clear up after smokers and my next guests do not want to find soggy butts in the garden !!! Thank you for your co operation with this.

We do like a quirky garden which we hope you will enjoy but all areas can be very slippery when wet and some surfaces are very uneven. Please take care.

I hope that all sounds very enticing !
