Called after Jack Duggan this Pub dates back to 1903 and walking into it you would you would think that you are entering typical traditional Irish Village Pub full of Character and Charm. In fact this Pub only closed its doors to the Public in 2017 and it has remained the same since. The only thing that has changed are the living quarters which have undergone an extensive refurbishment. A more comfortable, warm and cosy place to stay you will not find and that’s not including the Pub.
The accommodation includes the Bar with open fire, pool table, T.V.s and multiple games to choose from, a fully functioning separate kitchen, Kegs room with top of the range cooling system, a separate lounge room or chill out room as we like to call it with T.V. and fire, four double bedrooms and one twin room sleeping 10 people in total (cot and kids bed also available), two fully refurbished shower room, one fully refurbished bathroom and also a separate w.c. This Pub is ideal for any family or group of friends who wish to spend some time together just getting away from it all or exploring the region. Also within a two hour drive from Jack Duggans Pub you will find 43 Golf Courses including many of Ireland's top 20 courses e.g., Killarney, Ballybunion, Tralee and Waterville making this also an ideal base for a Golf Trip. Or indeed for the climbing enthusiast we are within easy reach of the McGillycuddy reeks, Ireland highest mountain range…the possibilities are endless!
Castlemaine Village itself offers a local Store perfect to pick up your convenience items and and if you are tired after a long day why not stroll across the road to eat in Knightley’s Bar and Restaurant. We also recommend ordering your groceries online prior to arrival and getting them delivered by the local Supermarket saving much time and effort.
This property is owned by the Casey family who have been welcoming guests in their home in Killarney since 2011. Please check out Killarney Manor House for details and reviews. My family really enjoyed our stay! The pub was a great place to hangout and the upstairs was very comfortable. The location was perfect with a bar and restaurant close by.

We had a great stay, location excellent but a bit noisy on the road , thanks
Our stay in Jack Duggan's pub was so fun and comfortable for everyone! We wanted a small town experience close to adventures in Kilarney and Dingle, this place was the perfect solution. The convenience store just a block away was great for snacks, beer, and other conveniences. We had a great time connecting with local folks and the wonderful bartender at Griffen's pub, just down the street. The accommodations were clean, with plently of beds and 3 bathrooms. I highly recommend Jack Duggan's for an authentic Irish experience!
We had a fantastic time staying 5 nights at Jack Duggans Bar House. It’s a perfect location. We loved Inch Beach and the local restaurant Griffins, Killarney National Park and Dingle. The 20 something’s loved having their own bar & Keg. Wonderful time. Host was super.
This was a fun place to stay, with our own neighborhood pub atmosphere but still plenty of room for us 9 adults and an infant. Everything worked well and the restaurant Griffins and convenient store Helena's were VERY friendly, helpful and accommodating. We loved our stay!
This is a great place to stay for families and groups.
We loved staying at the Pub. The pool table was great and they had lots of games. It is a small town- one restaurant (it was not serving food), two bars and a gas station/grocery store. You have to be prepared to drive to Killarney or other towns for meals and sites.
Came to Castlemaine with family members of six, and had family from Abbeyfeale come down for some games and picture album viewing.
It was the perfect location with lots of room for us to have a great time full of laughter and craic.
This was a fun property for our family of 8. The property was clean and comfortable. The only downside was it was not near any activities or restaurants like we had thought it was. That was our fault for not researching more. It does get a bit noisy in the morning with all the traffic going by.

Located in a sleepy, quite town about 13 miles from Killarney National Park, my family and I enjoyed the amenities of the pub while lounging and recharging our batteries before moving onto the next phase of our holiday.
Easy, scenic drive to park allowed us to stay out of the traffic and congestion surrounding Killarney. Would book again especially if we travel with another family as the property was roomy and comfortable.
Wonderful stay at a really cool and traditional pub.
Fantastic, stress free and everything was quick and easy. From the deliveries to advice and travel, it was a fantastic trip and wonderful accommodation. We will be back!!!
The property was exactly as described and perfect for our groups stay. It is convenient to Dingle peninsula and Ring of Kerry - the extra bonus was a separate dryer from the washing machine which was not common in other rentals! It was clean and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Would definitely come back!
Everything was extremely easy to navigate. Any issue (small) we could reach out to Catriona and everything was addressed immediately. Usually something we just couldn’t figure out. lol. Loved our stay! Great for us and our adult children and spouses.
Great Pub VRBO. My family couldn't believe we really had the entire pub! Snooker table a bit torn up and new cues are definitely needed but we still had fun. Plenty of room to spread out for the 9 of us. The beds were very comfortable.
We stayed at jack duggan pub. It was clean, comfortable and spacious accommodation and really fun to have the bar.
On a busy road so some traffic noise but with windows closed it was fine.
The house is well stocked, our host was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any queries.
We went to the griffin for a nice pub dinner one night and the staff there were fabulous.
We had a great time staying at Jack Duggan’s Pub — such a fun and unique spot! The town is quiet but in a great central location. There’s a market nearby if you need anything, and Griffin’s has awesome food and drinks. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were nicely updated. The wi-fi wasn't working when we arrived but Catriona fixed it within minutes of contacting her. It was such a fun experience having the pub all to ourselves. My boys are already talking about coming back someday with their friends!
The place was in a great location if you want to be out of the a city with close proximity to Killarney, Dingle peninsula and Cliffs of Kerry. 15 minutes to Killarney, 10 to Killorglin, 15’to the beach. The house/pub itself is quite comfortable with everything you need. Great for a group of guys on a trip together The biggest drawback is that while Castlemaine itself is quite small, there is a lot of traffic that passes right by the house, so sleeping in can be tough if you are a light sleeper.
We had such a wonderful time at Jack Duggans! The establishment was clean and perfectly situated for our group of 9. The neighborhood was so fun and the people are incredibly friendly. Our communication with the property owners/management was exceptional. So pleased with our stay- may be the highlight of our trip so far. Thank you, all. Cheers!
