About this property

Ultimate Tranquillity at 1,100m - the Austrian Alm

If you're looking for an Austrian style mountain chalet away from it all and with an air of utter tranquillity, then you're looking at the right place! Our house has room enough for up to 9 adults, with comfortable, cosy accommodation.

The kitchen, though quite small, is cleverly designed: several people can sit on the 'Sitzbank' around the table and keep out of the way, leaving whoever's cooking to get on with things unhindered. There's a small, traditional wood-burning stove - especially good on those colder days - and a Miele oven and hob for everyday use.

The sitting room - with an additional dining space, and table for 10 - has an Austrian 'Kachelofen' - a large, wood-fired tiled oven with power enough to warm the whole house through in winter. The room looks southwest and west, with stunning views of the distant Karawanken mountain range. Double doors lead out to the patio, with a large, locally made wooden table and seating for 8 or more, and retractable awning.

Both bathrooms have recently had a beautiful, complete modern refit - please see the photos.

We live in Klagenfurt and England, and use our house at Buggl in Bach mainly at the weekends. We're always happy to talk about places to visit, good walking routes, nearby ski areas etc. The house is more fully equipped than some 'holiday' accommodation, and you will often find jars of our home-made jam, chutney and so on which you're welcome to use!

Please note: for 8 Thursday evenings in summer, from 1900 to 2400, there are wonderful, traditional, musical evenings at the neighbouring farmhouse (200 m walk), with drinks and food available - these evenings are famous in Carinthia. As a special arrangement for our guests, please mention that you are staying at our house, and you will receive a discount of €20 per person from any food and drinks you order.

This is a remarkable property set in the stunning Austrian Alm. If you want to immerse yourself in the Austrian countryside, swim in lakes, and generally get away from it all, this place it perfect. We had a fabulous holiday. The house has everything you need, plenty of space, and views that constantly change and never get boring. We loved it.

House Buggl in Bach is a perfect chalet

Perfect Getaway!

We had a great time staying at Paul and Kathy's house in Buggl in Bach! We enjoyed the beautiful views and peacefulness of the place. The house is very charming, well organized, and super functional, you will find everything you need! Our hosts were very accommodating (we loved the welcome gifts!) and answered all our questions in a very timely manner!

Rural getaway in tranquil Carinthia

We had a great stay at Buggl in Bach for two weeks. The homely, clean and comfortable chalet, perched on the hillside, offered spectacular views and peaceful rural charm. Our hosts provided excellent accommodation, a well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The information provided was accurate and comprehensive; with books, games and jigsaw puzzles for a few wet days really appreciated. We were happy making the drive up the hill each time we went out, but the location also ensured peace and quiet when we were there with panoramic views to gaze upon, birds to watch, wild flowers to find and rural Carinthian life to watch. A perfect holiday.

Ideal all-round

This lovely and comfortable house is beautifully situated and has fantastic views. It is strategically located, with many attractions nearby (e.g. cycling around Wörther See, hiking around Turracher höhe). An idyllic lake is down the road for a swim on hot days. Great hiking can start at the back of the house. Owners are very friendly and welcoming. Excellent bbq. Definitely a place to come back to! A week was too short to explore the area. For some people it might be good to know that a (or, in our experience two) cat(s) call this house home and are very present a lot of the time.

Very challenging to find a better place !

Commentaire: We were a French family of six, spending Christmas and New Year holidays. The house is very comfortable and quiet, the scenic view from the living room and terrace simply fantastic. Everything was prepared in advance up to the last detail like Christmas tree and welcome gifts such as bottles of wine and the excellent Harry’s cake. We immediately felt very welcome and like at home. We also got very useful practical hints before coming, like shop locations and opening time. The Wilsons are the best remote hosts ever ! We had several hiking paths in the surroundings, discovering everyday more beautiful scenic views in the direct nearby hiking ways. We could also enjoy some close trips to touristic places like Klagenfurt, the viewing tower on Pyramidenkogel and Velden with its famous “Schloss am Wörthersee” (my favorite 80’s Austrian series ;-) One of the highlights: on the evening of 24th of December, the neighbor farmer appeared in the house with his son and grandchildren, traditionally dressed, to bless the house with holy water and smoking encens. We were all totally unprepared and surprised, wondering for a few seconds what was going on there like in a dream. The next days, when we met the neighbors at the Jausenstation Stubinger; we got to learn that this is an Austrian tradition in the countryside. We enjoyed how friendly and pleasant they are, and also appreciated their live music performance at a special new year event. Many thanks Kathy, Paul and Harry for the unforgettable time we had in your house !

Ultimative Ruhe - Der Name ist Programm

Schöne Lage aber sehr laut donnerstags im Sommer

Das Haus list sehr schön gelegen etwa 25 Minuten mit dem Auto von Feldkirchen, ca 40 Minuten vom Wörthersee. Die Fahrt zum Haus ist teilweise eng und kurvig. Ausstattung, Küche, usw. war top. Das Haus war sehr sauber und die Kommunikation mit dem Gastgeber war sehr gut. Der einziger Haken ist, dass im Juli und August jeden Donnerstag im Lokal gegenüber sehr laute Musik läuft; es kommen Hunderte von Leuten und es geht sehr laut bis ca. 2 Uhr nachts. Sonst ist die Gegend ruhig, aber wir fanden den Halli-Galli donnerstags sehr nervig. Das müsste auch in der Haus-Beschreibung deutlich erscheinen, und das haben wir auch dem Gastgeber mitgeteilt.

Ein tolles Haus

Wir haben eine sehr schöne Woche in erholsamer Abgeschiedenheit genossen. Das Haus ist wunderbar. Es fehlt an nichts😊 einspurig braucht man auf jeden Fall. Zum See runter läuft man ca1h15. Runter… Hoch haben wir dann doch länger gebraucht. Aber unten gibts auch einen großen Parkplatz.

Ein Haus zum Wohlfühlen

Wir haben 2 sehr schöne Wochen in Buggl verbracht. Das Haus ist toll und lässt kaum Wünsche offen. In der näheren Umgebung kann man schön wandern. Im Badesee in St.Urban kann man sich gut abkühlen und das schöne Panorama genießen.

Tolles Haus in toller Umgebung mit Blick auf die Berge

Wir hatten das Haus für unseren einwöchigen Wanderurlaub gebucht und uns auf Anhieb sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Haus haben wir wie auf den Bildern dargestellt vorgefunden. Alles war ordentlich und sauber. Zur Begrüßung stand ein Kuchen, jede Menge Obst und zwei Flaschen Wein auf dem Esstisch. Man merkt deutlich, dass sich die Vermieter Paul und Kathy viel Mühe geben, damit sich die Gäste wohlfühlen. Hierfür besonderen Dank an Paul für den netten Kontakt per Mail, vor und während unseres Aufenthaltes. Die Küche ist zwar klein - was uns überhaupt nicht gestört hat - und wirkt auf den ersten Blick recht „rustikal“, die Geräte (Geschirrspüler, Herd) sind jedoch neuerer Bauart. Uns hat auch hier nichts gefehlt. Highlight ist natürlich die tolle Terrasse mit dem grandiosen Ausblick über die Berge, bei guter Sicht inkl. Blick auf die Karawanken. Es stehen ca. 10 weitere Häuser in der Nachbarschaft, von denen wir aber nichts mitbekommen haben. Direkt unterhalb des Hauses liegt die Jausenstation „Stubinger“, die leider zu unserer Zeit keinen Betrieb hatte. In den Monaten Juli + August findet hier jeden Do. ein „Dämmerschoppen“ mit Livemusik statt. Da wird´s dann wohl mal lauter bis in die Nacht. Am besten mitfeiern. Geweckt wurden wir meist vom Hahn oder von den Kühen der Nachbarn, ansonsten gibt es nur absolute Stille. Nur auf die laut knarrenden Dielen im Obergeschoss hätten wir verzichten können ;-) Unser Fazit: Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert. Erneute Buchung sehr wahrscheinlich.

Ein herrlicher Aufenthalt

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit in Paul und Kathy's Haus. Es ist wunderschön gelegen und hat einen atemberaubenden Blick. Das Haus ist toll ausgestattet, die Bäder sind komplett neu. Traumhaft gelegenes Haus mit grandiosem Ausblick

Wir (Familie mit 3 Kindern) haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Es ist wunderschön, den Nachmittag/Abend bis zum Sonnenuntergang auf der Terrasse zu verbringen. Im Haus hat es an nichts gefehlt, was man für den täglichen Bedarf benötigt. Als besondere Aufmerksamkeit wurden wir am Anreisetag mit einem Kuchen und Obstkorb begrüßt! In der näheren Umgebung gibt es viele spannende Ausflugsziele für Familien. Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war sehr nett und persönlich.

Winterwunderland

Wunderbar ist Buggl in Bach auch im Winter. Nach vielen Aufenthalten in der sattgrünen sommerlichen Berg- und Seenwelt Kärntens sind wir erstmals im Winter nach Buggl zu Paul und Kathy gefahren. Es hat sich sehr gelohnt: glitzender Schnee, unglaubliche Aussichten und Blicke in die Berge, strahlender Sonnenschein, super Anfängerskipisten für Kinder ... Wir kommen nun auch im Winter immer wieder. Die Kommunikation mit Kathy und Paul lief wir immer reibungsos: sehr schnell, was möglich ist wird möglich gemacht, Kuchen, Obst und Wein gibt es zum freundlichen Empfang. alles top! VIelen Dank!

wunderschöner Urlaub in einem wunderbaren Haus

Ein super schönes Haus, alles vorhanden was benötigt wird. Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll und sehr sehr schön eingerichtet mit ganz viel Flair. Auch die vielen Tipps zu Ausflügen, bzw. zu den netten Bauern in der Nachbarschaft mit selbstgemachten Köstlichkeiten waren perfekt. Die Aussicht in die Landschaft ist atemberaubend schön. Zum Check-in wurden uns Obst, Wein und selbstgemachte Plätzchen bereit gestellt. Eine super schöne und ganz besondere Geste des Eigentümers. Der Eigentümer ist jederzeit erreichbar, Check-in und Check-out haben wir bisher noch nie so problemlos erlebt. Hierfür nochmals ein herzliches Dankeschön an den Eigentümer. Alles in allem ein wunderschöner Urlaub und zu 100% weiter zu empfehlen.

Entspannender Bergurlaub

Wir haben uns sehr kurzfristig für diesen Urlaub entschieden. Der Vermieter, Paul, war sehr flexibel und kommunikativ, und hat für uns ein Willkommensgeschenk mit selbstgebackenem Kuchen bereitgestellt! Es war ein echtes Almfeeling, aber ohne auf etwas verzichten zu müssen. Die Aussicht und die Ruhe des Ortes sind wunderbar. Ein Minuspunkt: die Betten waren für uns viel zu weich. Insgesamt aber wirklich ein besonders entspannender Urlaub, sehr empfehlenswert.

Immer wieder wunderschön!

Das Haus von Paul und Kathy in Buggl in Bach ist ein Traum - der Blick hat uns nun schon das zweite Mal verzaubert. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und geräumig. Von Buggl aus können unzählige Ausflüge gemacht werden: wandern, baden, Kletterwald, Burgen, Bootsausflüge, Pilze sammeln, reiten, Bogenschießen, Fahrradtouren etc. und köstliches Schnitzel und Marillenknödel warten überall. Paul und Kathy sind jederzeit erreichbar und empfangen die Besucher mit köstlichem Kuchen und Obst. Vielen Dank! Wir werden sicher noch ein drittes Mal kommen....

Paul and Kathy Warren Wilson are English, and we have lived in Klagenfurt, Austria since 2006, together with our 4 children - although we now spend more time in England than Austria, and some of our children now live and work elsewhere. Paul has recently retired from his job as a pilot flying the Boeing 747 for Cathay Pacific; and Kathy is a qualified teacher (also mostly retired now) - having taught primary classes, as well as teaching English as a foreign language. In 2006 it was time for a change from England - and Carinthia provides a wonderful outdoor life, as well as the chance for our children to become fluent in a second language. It's not really enough just to speak English nowadays...

Our house at Buggl in Bach provides the most wonderful setting for quiet relaxation, fresh air, walking, and tranquillity, whilst being only a short drive (35 mins) from Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, where we live (part time).
