About this property
Comfortable Highland Speyside cottage with stunning views
Aird Highland House is a secluded cottage sitting in stunning scenery on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands. Originally a crofters cottage, it has been sympathetically added to over the years. With breathtaking views, the cottage offers comfortable and generous self-catering holiday accommodation for up to 10 people. It is the perfect place to explore the Highlands and the Moray Whisky Trail, golf, cycling, hill walking as well as the castles of Aberdeenshire and Banff. Just 9 miles from Grantown on Spey, the cottage is within easy reach of Aviemore, the Landmark Centre, Boat of Garten, the Glenlivet Estate, Ballindalloch Castle, the Moray Firth and Inverness. Cycling, kayaking, nature watching, walking, the steam railway – there is a huge amount to do in this picturesque area of Scotland. Aird is also very well placed for golf, with easy accessibility to many championship golf courses as well as many hidden gems including Castle Stuart, Spey Valley, Nairn, Grantown-on-Spey, Boat of Garden to name a few.
Aird comprises five spacious and comfortable bedrooms (3 king size doubles and 2 twin rooms), 2 shower rooms and one bathroom. There is a large entrance hall with plenty of room for coats and boots, a generous kitchen with large kitchen table (seats 10) which leads onto (up some stairs) a huge sitting room with panoramic window to enjoy the stunning views. A large L-shaped sofa, second sofa and armchairs provide lots of room for everyone. The kitchen is really well equipped and should have everything you need. Basics such as salt and pepper, cooking oil, teabags, dishwasher tablets and cloths are all provided.
The house is accessed by a farm track. Please be cautious with low vehicles. In winter a 4x4 is adviseable.
We have a cot and high chair on request, and lots of games and toys!
Dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times. The house is surrounded by wildlife and they must not be disturbed. Please also pick up dog poo from the garden.
Please Note: There are some steep steps up from the kitchen to the sitting room, which might not be accessible for everyone. The paved areas leading to the front door and around the house are uneven and can be slippy.

What a stunning house and location. We could not have asked for a more perfect Scottish winter break with the family. So quiet and serene. Magnificent views. Lovely, welcoming host. We hope to be back as still so much to explore.
Beautiful cottage, more than ample accommodation for our 8 adults and 1 dog group. Beautiful setting, rural but close enough to towns and activities. Great place to stay.
We had an amazing stay in the house. It is fully equipped and perfect for a big group with a lot of space so that different activities can be carried out at the same time. We enjoyed amazing weather and we could make use of the splendid lawn in front of the living room!

Tranquil location and great setting for Speyside Visit
We traveled as a multi-generational group of 10 and really enjoyed our stay. The lounge was great and the pictures do not do it justice….it was just so nice sitting and watching the scenery. This is a tranquil location close to many Speyside distilleries - so very convenient if that is your goal.
Aird really suited our family get together, with plenty of space. Preparing meals and eating together around the big dining table an relaxing on the sofas in the lounge.Great centre for exploring local attractions including the Spey steam railway and the Landmark Trust centre at Corbridge.

Amazing property and house. Very large, and extremely well kept. Highly suggest having a car that has high clearance due to the dirt road that leads to the house.

Thank you for your lovely comments. I’m delighted you enjoyed the house. Please come again!
Great location for peaceful holiday and days out, loved the homely feeling as soon as we entered the house, totally silent and dark at night for a good night's sleep, owner was always available to answer any questions,
Thanks again Lois, would highly recommend holidaying here.

Thank you for your kind review. I am delighted you had a good week. Please come again!
The house was our base for the Moray 6 Days of Orienteering. We were running every day so did not have the opportunity to visit the local area but the scenery was very pleasant and the house was nice and spacious.

Thank you for your nice review. I am pleased you had a lovely time. Please come again!
We had a glorious week staying in this lovely house. Inevitably, to get to the bigger hills, lochs, local towns and historic sites involves driving. But there are great walks which are much more local, taking in forest and hillside, with alot of variation.
The house is super comfortable for a group of family and friends. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house unreservedly.
We had a lovely stay at this well equipped and spacious property. It feels remote but is a relatively short drive to attractions such as Landmark, Aviemore and excellent access to the Speyside Whiskey trail. The children enjoyed the bikes, wildlife and board games kept us all entertained. Kitchen had everytbing we needed and had no problem getting shopping delivered. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful and away from some of the busier towns.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m glad you had a great time and enjoyed the house. Pls do come again
Very quiet with excellent views of the surrounding farmlands. Don’t drive your low ground clearance sports car and stop in Aviemore and pick up groceries on the way there. It is about 10 miles to the store. That said, would definitely do it again!

An Idyllic Escape for the Whole Family in the Highlands
We had a very pleasant time at Lois' house. The directions were well explained, so we found the house quickly. It is wonderfully nestled in the heart of the Highlands, and each of us enjoyed the unique view of the landscape every morning and evening. Daily encounters with various animals and nature were a memorable experience. The house provides all the amenities you would need as a vacationer, plus great extras like games, books, and information about the area. Shopping is convenient in the nearby towns. Our children had their own rooms and could play and run around outside. Whether indoors or outdoors, our stay in Aird was thoroughly special and beautiful. Thank you very much!

Thank you for your lovely review, I am delighted you had such a lovely time at Aird. Please come again!
We stayed for a week in early September with two other couples. The house was spacious, warm and comfortable with a large sitting room with ample space for everyone to socialise in the evenings. It is situated in a very peaceful rural location, being surrounded by fields and with young game birds running around close by, but is not far from the amenities of Grantown-on-Spey and the Speyside Malt Whisky route. There is a surprising amount to do in the area. The drive to Braemar from the house is particularly spectacular as it crosses the Cairngorms. We enjoyed visiting Ballindaloch Castle and Gardens, Elgin Cathedral, Loch Garten and doing tours of The Glenlivet distillery, Speyside Cooperage and the textile mill at Johnstons of Elgin. Highly recommended.
We had a great week fishing at tulchan n. So the house is very well located fur us
Only negative was there was no bins for sorting recycling. Except at the end of the road a mile away! Every area of Scotland seems to have a different idea. Hopefully we got it right.🙏🤞
Description provided and reality were an exact match.
Communication with Lois was excellent and quick.
We were looking for a quiet location where the three groups in our family could mix in a comfortable setting. This worked very well for us. The property is a family retreat for Lois and provided a really nice “lived in” feel. Just what we needed. Perfect !

Thank you for your kind words. I’m delighted you had a good time. Come again!
This is a beautiful property to stay in. Virtually all you desire.
Lighting a bit dark in the lounge, more bulbs needed, but ok if no other lamps stop working.
The accommodation is fantastically equipped. One slight improvement for so many would be a bigger toaster but hi that is nothing. All 9 of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thank you.
Our group of two families had a lovely week in Aird. It really is a special place, and the photos don't quite do it justice. The living room with its big picture window was the perfect place to spend an afternoon or an evening. And when the evening sun was out, it was great sitting at the table in the front garden. Wherever we were, there was always a wide array of wildlife to see - from stoats to kites to bats, deer and red squirrels.
The kids (ages 5-9) all had a lovely time - and were delighted to find a whole box of toys to play with when they weren't exploring the fields and gardens around the house.
The property is close to Grantown where there's shops and pubs. And there were lots of walks and great days out within an easy drive. Lois was a great host and easy to get hold of.
We'd highly recommend a stay at Aird.
