This cozy London flat was a beautiful discovery, close to many touristic attractions and weekend happenings. We came for a trip around UK with our 10-year-old son and stayed in a few rentals. Marco’s was hands down the best. While we found what we needed in the flat, the team managing helped us a lot! They offered tips on where to eat and guided us around the area. We had a minor incident with the boiler for hot water, but the handyman was there the next day and helped us operate it. We plan a return next year and I hope Marco’s flat will be available.
Great apartment, great location
This was our third stay at Marco’s Camden apartment and we are already looking forward to our next visit.
The kitchen is spotless and fully stocked with place settings, silverware and cookware. The bathroom is also very clean, with a shower that has endless hot water. The bedroom has two closets, a large bureau to share and a comfortable bed. The living room sofa is great for stretching out on and the TV has one simple remote with plenty of channels. The wifi is strong throughout the apartment.
Marco is a great communicator. There are several informative emails upon booking and Marco responds quickly to any questions. More emails are sent prior to arrival. Someone will meet you at checkin and give you a tour of the flat. Several hours later Marco emailed to make sure that everything was ok. Early checkin and late checkout are offered for a small fee and we took advantage of both, which worked out great with our flights.
The location is tremendous. Within a block are cafes, small groceries, hair and nail salons, an excellent Italian restaurant and a train station. Within a range of 2 to 6 blocks are a large Sainsburys (grocery store), several pubs, many restaurants, shops of all kinds, access to the Regents Canal, the Camden Markets and a tube station. A little longer walk will take you to Regents Park and the London Zoo.
There is some street noise during the daytime, but it wasn’t an issue for us at night.
Marco’s apartment was the perfect base for our London visit with plenty to do locally and easy access to the rest of London.
I’m glad we booked this house because it looks as in the photos. I studied in London years ago and coming now brought back so many memories. It’s clean and modern, but it hase the English feeling I was looking for. I always want to stay at a walking distance from bus or metro so this was a plus also. The international team that manages the place is very nice and always helped us, they even sent something that we forgot there, so it was much appreciated.
Location was ideal but it was extremely loud
There was so much noise were not able to sleep the entire time we were there. We live in a city and are used to noise, but this was crazy loud. Also, people smoke downstairs a lot so the apartment constantly smelled of cigarettes. The other thing that was surprising was the shower situation; it was extremely high and there was no shower curtain or shower door.
Aside from that we enjoyed our time there.
Location of Unit may not be for you
The unit is as you see on the site (except carpets need replacing) and the kitchen and bathroom are very good, but be aware location may not be what you are looking for. The location is a short walk to the tube and near The Camden Market so that is positive, but before you book be aware the unit is above a retail betting store which at a quiet moment you can hear the faint call of the occasional horse race. More important when we tried to sleep it was very noisy due to being on an intersection of a road that is very busy all hours and has a police station close by that results in sirens at various times during the night. We were there during a heat waive so windows had to be open all night to deal with the heat and the noise meant limited sleep the first few nights. If you are looking for a place that gives you some relief from a busy crowded city this would be a tough choice.
Finally, this is also not your typical family VRBO and there are significant rules and when my wife was delayed in arriving the first day we had to pay a significant late check in fee. Just be aware that this is more like a corporate rental and thus no flexibility exists like we have had with so many other VRBO rentals.
Hi Robert, Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve raised; we’ve been hosting for more than 4 yrs & 99% of our guests have enjoyed their stay at our flat. However, we do take seriously your comments & would like to address your concerns:
“noisy due to being on an intersection of a road”: Camden is London's 4th most visited tourist area. All our guests love the area for being vibrant, energetic and busy. Background noise of any big city can be expected & it is part of it. Morever the bedroom has triple glazed window which guarantee you peaceful evenings. Total silence is easier to find in the country side. Camden is a multi- cultural area. Downstairs you can find shops, restaurants from all over the world.
“police station closeby results in sirens”: It is the proximity to the police station (only 100 meters away) that makes the area extremely safe, which could be a concern in a big city. Most of our guests, particularly those coming with children feel safe in our area!
“heat wave so windows had to be open all night..”: The heat wave was unusual this year & unexpected even for us Londoners! Please understand that flats in London don’t have air conditioning & you can’t expect hosts to install them for a week of heatwave. However, we have provided fans in the flat for your comfort. It was unfortunate that you had to endure this heat, but many of our guests love the London summers, which is usually a very moderate one. The temperature has already dropped to 22 degrees.
“when my wife was delayed in arriving we had to pay a significant late check in fee”: We always send emails to our guests keeping them well informed in advance. We charge a very nominal amount for delays in arrival after allowing for grace period. Further, we provide personal check in to our guests unlike other rentals, where you have to pick up keys from another address. This saves you time & energy & our staff can also show you a few things around in the flat if needed. Our staff, who has multiple check ins a day, waits for you at the flat to check you in. In case of delays, they need to work double time & its a very small fee to compensate them for this.
Our apartment only has good reviews and satisfied guests. We found your comments unreasonable & recommend maybe to book an apartment outside London next time.
A lovely bright apartment

More, more about Camden:
Camden Town has been a residential area since the 1790s, but it was only the development of the Grand Union Canal and the improved railway transport that turned it into a bustling part of London. Today, visitors and locals gather to hunt for treasures in Camden's markets, stroll by Regent's Canal, gaze at the beautiful buildings, sample cuisine from around the world, listen to live music and soak up the vibrant and diverse atmosphere. Many famous people, including Dylan Thomas, Walter Sickert and Amy Winehouse, have made Camden their home.
The labyrinthine open-air markets and myriad retail outlets of Camden will keep the keenest shoppers busy, with everything from vintage to futuristic designs on offer. The individual markets are:
Camden Lock Market – crafts, books, clothing, jewellery and fast food.
Camden Lock Village – clothing and accessories, as well as a range of unusual items.
Camden Market – originally Buck Street market, this sells fashion for all tastes.
Inverness Street Market – a few of the original fruit stalls remain, alongside clothing, footwear and souvenirs.
Stables Market – a mix of permanent shops and stalls selling household items, antiques, alternative clothing, food and much more.
There is also an indoor fashion market at the Electric Ballroom, which is only open on Sundays.
Food and Drink
Feeling peckish? You'll find food from around the globe at Camden's many eateries and street vendors. Going to a show at the Roundhouse? Try their pre-theatre menu. Check out top-quality burgers at Haché or pan-Asian cuisine at Gilgamesh, where you can stay on to enjoy the trendy bar and club.
You're never far from a bar in Camden. Try Scottish import BrewDog, the legendary Dublin Castle on Parkway or The World's End, opposite Camden Town Tube station (Northern line). Camden Town even has two breweries, Little Brew and Camden Town – look out for their excellent beers in local pubs.
Live Music in Camden
Camden has always been a hub for London's live music scene, with legendary venues that have launched many big names. Check out Koko, the Underworld and Electric Ballroom to catch the latest bands. You can also see top jazz and blues performances at the Jazz Café or the Blues Kitchen, while the Black Cap offers a glittering array of drag acts.
See theatrical performances from top UK companies such as the RSC, as well as films, art installations and gigs at the Roundhouse. You can also catch comedy at the Camden Highlight or see an eclectic mix of fringe performances at the Etcetera theatre.
Activities in and Around Camden Town
Check out edgy art exhibitions at the Cob Gallery, contemporary photography at Proud Camden or a huge range of modern visual arts at the highly-acclaimed Camden Arts Centre. You can explore Jewish life and heritage at the Jewish Museum.
If you’re looking for something a little more active, take the kids down to the Pirate Castle, where the whole family can enjoy a range of water-based activities. And there's always ZSL London Zoo – set within Regent's Park. It's great fun for kids and adults alike. From here, explore the area along the picturesque Regent's Canal. Trendy Primrose Hill is also well worth a visit not least for the spectacular city views from the top of the hill.
