About this property
Snowdon View - Luxury house with stunning views
At last, your opportunity to stay in this iconic Arts and Crafts house in beautiful Rhosneigr. Having provided 4* gold B&B accommodation for many years, half the house has now been completely remodelled to provide first class holiday accommodation with stunning views across Maelog Lake to Snowdonia and just a short stroll to Broad Beach.
The property has five bedrooms in 2020 sleeping ten. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. There is also a full bathroom with shower over bath upstairs and a fabulous shower room downstairs with Jack and Jill door to the fifth bedroom. There is a large kitchen and a lounge diner together with a second sitting room upstairs. Both lounges have superb views across the lake. Outside to the back is a lawn to catch the afternoon/evening sun and to the front another lawn with sun loungers and rattan furniture so you can sit and take in the peaceful fantastic scenic views, perhaps watching the flocks of geese and swans and many other bird species on the lake – unless you fancy a game of tennis, in which case the court is all yours. Broad Beach is a couple of minutes away with its sandhills and family atmosphere, whilst lively Main Beach with its boating and surfing activities can be reached within a 10 minute stroll. Having two lounges and four bathrooms, Snowdon View lends itself happily to many and varied family and friends groups.

Lovely house and hosts, amazing views and walks right from the house. Good chippy and breakfast a very short walk away in town. I’d also recommend Parys mountain copper mine 30mins away.
It’s a brilliant property! Fantastic location, well equipped, lots to keep guests entertained with tennis, table tennis or even sitting on the patio watching the jets coming and going. The village is a very easy short walk as is the beach. Derek &Gill were always on hand with any queries but never intrusive. Highly recommend this holiday house, our whole group loved it with an age range of grandparents to teenagers.

Thanks for being a great guest. Hope to see you again
A characterful house in a marvellous setting, just a very short walk to the beach and the centre of Rhosneigr. The views across the lake to Snowdonia and towards the sea are exceptional.
The hosts were discreetly on hand. We all enjoyed a wonderful family holiday.
We are a family of three generations and the accommodation was perfect for our needs. It is in a lovely location, within easy reach of all the sights on the island as well as being close to the beach. The owners are lovely with nothing too much trouble for them. Communication was excellent.

Thank you for your lovely review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and it's great to know you found the accommodation perfect. We would love to welcome you and your family again.
The location 200 metres from the beach and 5 mins from the village meant that we had everything at our fingertips.
The children and the adults all enjoyed tennis and other games in the large garden.

Many thanks for your review. It's lovely to see the tennis court so well used, we're really glad you all enjoyed it and had a great holiday.
Great holiday at Snowdon View which comfortably accommodated our family of 10. Ideal location on the edge of Rhosneigr, perfect for beaches and lake/coastal walks, 5 minutes to the centre for shops and places to eat. Plenty of space, most rooms have ensuite bathrooms and stacks off road parking. Tennis court was a hit! Derek and Gill were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for leaving everything so clean and tidy. Glad the downstairs bedroom was just right for your parents, it helps those who are not so mobile and lots of space too for them to call their own. We loved meeting you and your lovely family and would welcome you back in a heartbeat!
(So lucky this year to have had so many fantastic guests, our best wishes to all)
Just returned from a week at Snowden View the whole family ( including the teenagers) Absolutely enjoyed their stay and would love to return. In fact they didn’t want to come home . Derek and Gill were exceptional hosts and what a lot of history is attached to the house. They have a very difficult job in these COVID 19 times but everything was spot on, had no worries at all. There was even a welcome try on arrival. Thank you to both Derek and Gill for the use of your beautiful house ,gardens and tennis court .
Our group of 6 adults, 2 teenagers and a baby enjoyed our stay despite the mixed weather. Excellent location and it boasts one of the best views in the village. We really enjoyed the outside spaces and taking breakfast on the terrace was a real treat. Good outdoor furniture and bbq. The tennis court so close to the house was a novelty although the lack of court fencing was an obvious frustration during game play. The new games room was a bonus for good table tennis. Looking forward to staying in this iconic property we were disappointed that the let was in fact the rear part of the house originally used as the servants quarters. This is not made clear in the property description and the photos focus on the main house including one photo of the front garden terrace that is out of bounds for guests. Access to the house is via the old service entrance at the back and internally it's all rather underwhelming with some tired fixtures, fittings and furniture harking back to its former life as a b&b. The kitchen, although functional, feels a bit tight and being at the back with a small window feels gloomy. The master bedroom and ensuite situated directly off the kitchen / lounge isn't ideal and it suffers from the same gloominess, feeling and smelling a little damp. During our stay we had issues with the plumbing in the down stairs ensuite and we ended up having to use just 2 of the showers. Great location and view but all in all it comes across as a work in progress.

All our other reviews are 5* and so it is a surprise to have a mark such as this given the review seems to comprise of truths, half-truth and untruths to try to justify it. We are sorry you had some rainy gloomy days but that is out of our control.
True:
• it has one of the best views in Rhosneigr
• it has two seating areas with good quality furniture
• You can sit on the terrace and have a fabulous view of Snowdon whilst having breakfast.
• you reported a problem with the drain. This was caused by excessive amounts of toilet paper. We cleared this within half an hour of you reporting it to us and it has remained clear and fully in use since for all 4 showers.
• There is a downstairs bedroom but this is a boon to most families especially with elderly family members. As for ‘gloomy’, it has a 6ft x 9ft window and is light as can be seen from the photo.
Half truth
Cefn Dref was a B&B until 4 years ago and was awarded 4 gold stars by the AA for its level of décor and furnishing. However the holiday let did not form part of the B&B (apart for one bedroom) and was only created 4 years ago as a totally refurbished home and is continually updated. So the ‘tired fixtures’ comment does not make sense.
Untrue
• There is no picture of our private front garden terrace or indeed a view from it. All the photos are of the holiday let and its facilities.
• The house is not damp and does not smell of damp.
The hosts Derek and Gill were warm and helpful. We had come as group and the house accommodated all our needs. There is a downstairs bedroom and ensuite that was particularly useful for my parents. The beds were comfy and the kitchen well organised. Lovely view over the lake. Overall very enjoyable. Thank you
What a glorious week we had! A family of 3 generations in a truly beautiful location! Enough space for us all to feel comfortable, brilliantly equipped. The tennis court and outside space was an added bonus. Derek and Gill were fantastic hosts, we couldn't have asked for more.
We have a large family and this accommodation was perfect for our requirements. On the edge of Rhosneigr village but only 5 mins walk to the centre, and close walking distance to both beaches. Gill and Derek were fantastic as owners and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Our dogs were welcomed and given as much consideration as the humans.
I would recommend this property and it’s owners to everyone.
Lovely Property with very comfortable beds, very clean and well equipped with plenty of space And great mod cons and Derek and Gill on hand for local information. Great location for dog walks from the house to the beach etc
We really enjoyed our stay here at this large, comfortable and very well looked after period holiday house.
Rhosneigr is our favourite place in Anglesey with fantastic beaches, great coastal walks, some nice places to eat and drink and being remarkably quiet and peaceful even in peak season.
The house itself has lots of space, is very well kitted out and had everything we needed for a really enjoyable holiday. The terrace at the back has terrific views over the lake towards snowdonia and gets great sunshine in the morning. There's also a small seating area at the front which is a nice place to enjoy the sunshine with a cold drink in the late afternoon after a busy day of activity.
The house has all the mod cons we wanted. Microwave, double oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge /freezer, central heating, etc and the large TV in the lounge is smart so you can use the inbuilt apps to access your accounts on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV, BBC Iplayer etc.
All in all a great place to stay and we'd be happy to stay here again in the future.
The property was excellent: a short walk from the centre of Rhosneigr and a shorter walk to the beach. Well appointed and spacious, there was ample room for our party of ten. The house is characterful with a lovely outlook over the lake and the mountains beyond. Derek showed us around when we arrived and was on hand if we needed anything. Overall highly recommended.
Snowdon View exceeded my high expectations in terms of its location, accommodation, facilities, views and very helpful owners next door.
I was celebrating my 70th birthday with grown-up children and grandchildren (5-11) and it was perfect for all of us. I had a large comfortable ensuite room on the ground floor. The couples both had spacious ensuite rooms upstairs and the children were in 2 twin rooms. There was also a family bathroom, a large dining table and a lounge on both floors to allow for watching different TV programmes, reading or enjoying the view.
We could sit outside at the front overlooking the lake and tennis court or at the back in a private patio area where we had a barbecue. The views from the front were awesome with lake, mountains and sea all visible. On the evening of my birthday there was a terrific murmuration of starlings and later in the week we were treated to a practice display by the Red Arrows.
Clean, safe beaches were a short walk away as were shops, cafes and good restaurants. The beaches were never crowded and the eating places were following strict guidelines for social distancing and cleanliness. The owners of the house go to a great deal of trouble to ensure safety and cleanliness against Covid 19 having 2 sets of duvets, pillows, bedding etc which they alternate between their visitors.
I cannot imagine a better place to stay with a group of family or friends and I would love to return.
