Highly Recommend

First impression was 'wow', the lodge was very spacious and clean & had all that was needed for a very pleasant few days (would have loved to stay longer). The kitchen was well equipped, the showers were great, the jacuzzi bath was huge. The beds were so comfy with a choice of pillows. A fab location for exploring Cornwall's village's and beaches,

Poorly staffed resort and tired property

I can’t recommend this stay. We visited as a family of 5 (2x teenagers and an 11 year old), my two parents, and our two dogs. Amy was great on arrival but we had issues from the outset. The hot tub was not functioning. Despite apparently being cleaned and reheated prior to our arrival, it was not turning on. On day 2 we discovered it had been turned off at an external isolator switch on the side of the property. The washer dryer was not functioning and when we reported this to Amy she confirmed she was aware of this and a replacement part should have been delivered the following day. Not ideal when you are a large group trying to dry towels daily due to some pretty inclement weather. The vacuum cleaner was also completely ineffective. The sofas and chairs are tired and worn, and the wooden decking area and external parts of the building are in need of repair. On to the resort. Very nice and with an exclusive feel. Sadly the service was poor everywhere except for the Flowrider. Service in the restaurant, as reported elsewhere, was slow and inattentive. Again, not in keeping with the general aims for the Aria resort, and way off the 5 stars claimed. For a spend of £4200 plus the stay was well under par. We won’t be visiting Aria resorts again.

Lovely place

Great house, love the fact there's a living room upstairs along with 2 bedrooms and the same downstairs - perfect for sharing with friends! The hot tub is an absolute winner and the deck overlooks a pond, which is serene. It was clean and modern. The tea, biscuits & wine were a nice touch after a long journey. As a 5* it could have done with more saucepans, a coffee machine, more toilet roll and a dishcloth. Owner didn't respond at all to an email enquiry before we left, but whilst there the boiler stopped working and we had no hot water - this time owner responded to a phone message and it was fixed within a couple of hours. All in all a great place!

A dreadful experience

Arriving to a dirty unclean lodge , piles of rubbish bags in the lounge , sand and dog hairs everywhere. Staff were in the lodge until late that night, far from ideal after a long journey. The lodge wasn’t fully cleaned only partially due to the limitations of staff at short notice . The hot tub had been cleaned, upon inspection it’s was filthy, the bottom of the tub was coated in sand and other debris , the staff returned at breakfast time , and again in the evening a for the first 3 days and nights , eventually on the 3 rd night it was deemed clean . The toilet broke , it leaked all night , it was extremely loud , the good thing with the toilet is it only took 2 visits to fix ! The land lady refunded the first nights stay , she simply stated she’d taken advice and she’s apologised and that’s all she’s required to do . We left after 3 days , it wasn’t pleasant to have every morning and evening with several staff outside the patio doors sorting the hot tub - and using up the hot water !

Ideal Getaway

We enjoyed a lovely stay in a lodge at the Retallack Resort. Ideal location and a short drive to hit the many beaches along the coast. The lodge was great, quiet and well equipped - the hot tub was a daily attraction. National lockdown restrictions did not help as our group had to reduce to 6 only. However, everyone enjoyed the stay especially the dogs who loved the daily long walks on the dog-friendly sandy beaches. Highly recommended.

Fabulous venue for family celebration

The location of our lodge on site was perfect, very private and quiet. Fabulous for families of all ages as plenty of space inside and outside. The upstairs lounge in particular was a wonderful space, yet very cosy too. We were very comfortable and the lodge had everything we needed. We didn’t use the facilities on site other than the takeaway one evening which was satisfactory. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and the location is perfect for visiting lots of beautiful nearby places. Would love to go back!

50th b'day celebration

Love retallack resort. Property clean and spacious, some things could do with updating but we enjoyed our stay. The lodge was cold on arrival and it took us a while to figure put the heating, some instructions would have helped. Once we managed to get the place warm, it was all good. Hot tub was the highlight for us.

Nice place to stay with family

We really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped (would recommend having a cafetière but that’s maybe personal preference). It’s in a lovely location and Amy was helpful with the booking. We had problems with the lights by the hot tub which we messaged Amy about, she said she would see what she could do and then we didn’t hear from her again so that was a shame as it was pitch black in the evening making it quite dangerous. Hopefully this is fixed before their next guests arrive. Apart from that we had a lovely time.

Wonderful resort and location

The lodge was all that we expected in a great location for visiting some stunning places. The dog walking areas were wonderful and it was a very quiet area. The only negative was that the decking outside was a bit tired looking and the fridge was too cold and not able to be adjusted.

Lodge review

Lodge was meant to be exclusive but I wouldn’t rate it as so. The lodge is in need of an update inside and out. Decor and furnishings dated. Hot tub cover could not be put over as the lid had been repaired and it was impossible to lift. Temperature kept going cold and had to have it refilled so didn’t get a lot of opportunity to use it. Unable to get the tv to work upstairs or downstairs. WiFi not good enough, thread bare carpet upstairs near the patio doors and covered with a rug. Asked owner for some more pans to cook a roast but these never arrived. Location not greet. Had to drive everywhere. Not many facilities on site. Beaches excellent but none nearby. No facilities to go out on the bike. Had a good holiday with friends and family but would not return

Relaxing

We had a fantastic few days in Cornwall. Our lodge on retallack was spacious, week equipped and the hot tub was a bonus. It was only a short distance from loads of beautiful beaches, walks, towns and attractions. Has pool, spa and water sports - well worth a visit.

I am passionate about creating memorable breaks in wonderful holiday homes and understanding the value of time away, Queenwood Holidays opened in 2018.

After 10 years of enjoyment designing, developing and managing Retallack Resort in Cornwall, delivering a bespoke, curated holiday service is my dream!

Concierge by Amy
As a mother of two fun-loving energetic young boys, I’ve learnt over the years much of what families need on a Cornish resort holiday. This helped me shape the resort, its offering to our guests and how very valuable a concierge service is. For both busy families and groups of friends prior to their breaks away, the holiday planning sets us apart. We love to assist with any of our guests’ holiday needs, my small team and I at Queenwood Holidays offer a completely free concierge service.

We are here to help from booking restaurants and spa appointments to assisting with surf schools to private chefs. If you need any help from a birthday cake to a babysitter, please just ask. Many of our clients travel with children therefore equipping the homes with all parents could need from cots and stair gates is vital. My concierge service helps with ideas on where to go, what to see to kids activities and hiring babysitters.

Each holiday home is chosen by myself. Each beautifully designed, perfect for friends to gather, families to relax in and create memories together. I take great pride in delivering luxurious holidays through our private resort collection, ensuring every guest a 5-star holiday experience.

Why they chose this property

Golden sandy beaches, buckets and spades, surf lessons, delicious food and time together. Memories we treasure on our Cornish Holidays. Whether children or grandparents, many of these stay the same, perhaps with surf lessons swapping for beach walks! Queenwood Holidays is passionate about delivering you the most wonderful Cornwall holiday. From the moment you book, to the first foot on the sand to the last surf of your stay.

The North Cornwall Coastal Path is alive with flora and fauna, as well as the myths and legends from its past. My Favourite is a circular walk, Constantine Bay to Porthcothan via a natural pool at Treyarnon beach, views of tiny islands, headlands and tiny coves named after wine. High on the list is across dunes and headland between Rock and Polzeath returning via St Enodoc Church where Sir John Betjeman is buried. We love the iwalkcornwall suggestions, well worth a look!

The North Cornwall coastline is glittered with sand, on sunny days the water shines like the Caribbean, in winter wrap up for stunning walks, throughout the summer the beaches are perfect for sandcastles, sun bathing and sunny strolls.

WaterGate Bay close to Retallack Resort is a huge stretch of golden sand backed by high cliffs, perfect for surfers, families and swimmers. The next bay along is Mawgan Porth, the perfect family beach with lots of rockpools, caves and even a large stream running down the southern side of the beach. Both are dog friendly, great parking and wonderful restaurants, coffee shops and beach stores. Porthcothan is an expanse of open space perfect for families with a sandy beach that opens out at low tide to connect up with small coves to the north and south. Daymer Bay at Rock, sand dunes sit along the estuary, a calm stretch for walks and relaxation.
