Poggio Landi is simply breathtaking. If you have a special occasion in mind for extended family or a large group of friends, this atmospheric villa will meet all your expectations. Poggio Landi resonates with history; built in 1820 by a Russian family to celebrate their son’s return from war, it now offers a sublime balance between original authentic rustic style and modern comfort. On the one hand, the villa is replete with high-end furnishings, such as super-sleek kitchen and bathrooms, exquisite hand-painted wardrobes and cushioned headboards; on the other it has a rustic canvas of age-old stone, terracotta tiles, exposed wooden beams and sweeping arches.
Step into the grounds and you'll find a choice of al fresco dining locations: perhaps at the stone dining table beneath the iron pergola (handily close to both kitchen and barbecue), or the separate, covered terrace by the house, where sofa and chairs offer an informal place for drinks. You'll also love the extensive shaded garden overlooking the neighbouring olive groves, where you’ll also find an enchanting thatch-roof gazebo. Inclined for a little sporting activity? If so, the grounds contain not only the large private pool and a tennis court but an Italian bocce (bowls) court, table tennis and a self-contained fitness centre. When you fancy venturing out, the nearest village is a short drive and Siena is a recommendable day trip.
