Needs a little love!
This property has the potential to be absolutely stunning, but sadly it falls short of that. It need a thorough deep clean and some basic maintenance, plus the furnishings are very basic. The battery in the smoke detector alarm in the kitchen failed and when we rang the owner we were offered no help. There are no clear instructions for how to operate either the TV system or the central heating and it was chilly when we first arrived. The owner eventually managed to explain the heating controls, after "googling" it. Fortunately Paul, the laundry man managed to get the TV system working, he was very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, there is so much to see and do in the area and we can recommend the chip shop across the road. Be careful of the driveway though, the tree roots are lifting the pavers quite alarmingly, making it difficult to walk or drive over. An extensive make-over both inside and out would make this property fantastic.

No hot water, dark and dingy
There was no hot water in the kitchen (so could not wash up) or any of the bathrooms apart from one on the ground floor which had a pump - all of us had to share one bathroom - this is unacceptable. Only one tablet was left for the dishwasher and no kitchen cloth was provided for cleaning or washing up - only one tiny sponge. (hence the 1 on cleanliness). The one bathroom where hot water worked had an incredibly noisy hot and cold water pump which woke everyone every time it was used. There were three out of five lightbulbs out in the main living room, so it was dingy and dark. Would not recommend this place or Sykes after this experience.
