We had a really comfortable stay - 5 adults and 4 dogs (by special arrangement). Plenty of room for us all, and made even better by some mainly fine weather so we sat in the lovely garden much of the time.
We dined at the Miners Arms and had a friendly welcome and great food.
The house really is appointed nicely with no expense spared on the furnishings and fittings. The bed linen, carpets and towels were all luxurious.
A few really tiny things let it down and may help others - lack of any oven gloves or tea towels (I burned my arm on the oven while juggling a hot baking tin), not enough clothes pegs or loo rolls, the driveway was "interesting" to turn into, batteries in TV remote had run out and perhaps a guide on local dog walks from the house would have been good.
As i said these were minor and overall its a lovely comfortable and spacious home with lots of creature comforts and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

About the host
Hosted by Lady Bathurst
Owning and managing holiday homes for nearly ten years, Lady Bathurst makes sure all her guests needs and comforts come first and foremost. The Welcome Baskets are the stuff of legends and all three homes in the Bathurst Holiday Cottage portfolio always provide the extra little comforts that make a real home. Lady B's aim is to make sure every family who visits one of her properties feels welcome and not like another 'punter' - in fact previous guests often comment on how it feels 'like a real home' and not just a holiday rental. Her team is small, but spectacular and guests can always expect an excellent service. In short, clients return to her homes time and time again - this is the biggest compliment anyone could ever pay an owner and many friends have been made over the years. Excellence - comfort - chic - unique - homely. All bywords in Lady B's book. Come and stay at any of The Bathurst Holiday Cottages and you will not be disappointed! You can search under Clover Barn; sleeps 6 (Kemble, Cirencester) - or Keepers Barn; sleeps 2/4 (Kemble, Cirencester) to see her other homes from home.
Why they chose this property
The Forest of Dean is one of the last bastions of traditional England. Once the hunting grounds of Charles II, the area is one of outstanding natural beauty and Claysun House is situated right in the heart of it. The views are amazing, the village pretty and as a bonus the pub serving excellent local beers and ciders, as well as delicious food, is a minutes walk away in one direction - and 30 seconds walk the other way is a fabulous Fish and Chip shop and Chinese Takeaway. Best of both worlds!!
What makes this property unique
Riverside views, countryside views, outdoor adventures, local food, easy access to all local amenities. Such an amazing area to explore and enjoy - endless things to do - or just relax at Claysun House and unwind.
