The El Dorado as an Art Gallery Design Concept:
Confominios El Dorado 402 is a 4th floor one-bedroom living space with a panoramic view of Playa de Los Muertos, blessed with an assortment of original iconic art on display throughout the condo.
1). Manuel Lepp original lithograph which was a gift from a friend in PV 2). Original Paris Opera poster from the mid-1930’s Paris France was purchased at an auction for original poster art years ago and after displaying it in my home in San Francisco I decided to move it to PV because it seems to personify the glamour and drama personified by The Rinantuc Zone. The side candle sconces are from Banderas Bay Art Gallery. 3) Original Frieda Kahlo lithograph designed by a local artist and purchased from her Malecon pop-up display booth on my afternoon walk. 4). Oranges oil painting, which I adore, was a gift from my realtor Lorraine Sosa who helped me remodel the condo in 2000 5). Matisse flower poster was originally from El Dorado condo 401 when I owned it briefly. It was part of the sale from the previous owner and I inherited it snd moved it to condo 402. 6). Pastoral scene oil painting in the bedroom is an original piece by a local artist purchased in a secondhand shop in the neighborhood. 7). Oval mirror with handmade Diamond-shape embossed tin frame was purchased at Banderas Bay art store. 8. Woman with pierced lips is an original acrylic piece purchased from an up-and-coming local young artist who displays in the art gallery on Pilitas street 9) Mexican cowboy in the living room is from the same gallery by the same artist as the pierced lip woman, purchased as a pair 10). Birdcage chandelier is an original handmade wrought iron piece also from Banderas Bay 11). Framed dark bark Indian peasant paintings are in a traditional style that you can find all over Puerto Vallarta souvenir shops. 12). Blue ceramic lamp in the window is an original piece assembled in Telacapache Store in downtown PV which imports art and ceramics from Telacapache Art District In Mexico City 13). The 8 golden alabaster wall sconces throughout the condo in various shapes are handmade and produced locally. Most of them are from Hecho A Mano Furniture Gallery which is sadly no longer in business. 14). Asian-inspired handcrafted teak coffee table, teak bookshelves and 2 dining chairs were imported from Thailand and purchased at Hecho a Mano. 15). Rattan arm chair and foot stool and bar chairs were handmade to order in Guadalajara and purchased at Rattan Vallarta 16). The black circular Oaxacan object de art on the display shelves was an open house gift from Lorraine Sosa 17). The devil riding a horse ceramic art piece, the jeweled framed mirror, the tin mirror sculpture and the mariachi singers are from Banderas Bay Gallery. 18). The handmade mirror in the front hallway is from Safari Accents on Olas Altos Street 19). The Mexican hardwood parrota wood custom kitchen cabinets were made locally by my contractor when I remodeled the property 20). The arched iron doors into the bedroom and arched bifold security gate doors with sandblasted glass in the hallway were custom made for me by a local craftsman and designed by Lorraine Susa to accentuate the whimsical and dark design accents that is the condominios 402 design theme. This design concept embraces international and traditional historic art trends from the past decades including art deco and art nouveau and then blended into the Mexican design vocabulary. Also please note the black tile baseboard which is a gesture to Art Nouveau detailing. 21). The tiled bathroom soaking tub was hand made by a local tile setter artist to replace an obsolete plexiglass jacuzzi tub in the same shape. 22). The natural stone dark orange-brown travertine tile used on the floors and bathroom walls ls Mexican material locally mined in the Jalisco state of Mexico. The pink grout was the idea of Lorraine Sosa. 23). The chest of drawers in the bedroom was custom made my a local carpenter in the old style which replaces sn old bureau in the same shape that got termites 23). Some of the sofa pillows are original kilim fabrics I purchased recently in in Morocco. I found that Mexican and Moroccan design styles and techniques have s lot of similarities. 23). The kitchen idk and was the design idea to give the circulation a linear flow and it was painstaking designed by Lorraine Sosa. 24). The window with s view if the beach in the bathroom was my idea sbd everyone tried to discourage me but I knew thst a condo designed for 2 guests should have a bit of romance sbd sex appeal.
You can imagine that every inch of this property is well-thought out and represents the spirit of the traditional Vallarta fishing village that I fell in love with starting with my first visit on Spring Break in 1976. The condo 402, like the El Dorado Condominium Building which was built in the early 1980s, has modern comforts of contemporary Mexico but also pays tribute to the whimsical spirit and historic flavor of the original fishing village which is affectionately called The Romantic Zone.
Please enjoy your visit to this gallery of collectibles and see then through the lens of historic preservation snd a gesture to the exuberant Mexican crafts culture. This is meant to represent the taste of the designer-owner and his tribute to the true spirit of a magical place.

Place was amazing. Decorated so authentic, old school charm. The view was amazing, it was right on the beach and located in the heart of the city. The staff was very helpful. All the other guest were very friendly. The pool was really cool. We love that there’s no kids there so we could totally relax. The unit is right off the elevator. We would totally recommend this place to others.
Awesome ocean view from small balcony! Great pool on upper deck overlooking ocean. Elevator. Air Conditioning, perfect size room for a couple, Host and condo staff all exceptionally helpful and responsive! Great location in Romantic Zone, walking distance to everything. Quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect and the view is unreal. Bed is super comfy as well. Our host and the builsinf manager were also very kind. I highly recommend this spot!
I cannot say enough positive things about David’s beautiful apartment. The building felt incredibly safe and staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal, in the heart of Zona Romantica. David’s balcony looks right over the beach and the waves drown out any sounds from the streets or nearby bars. The apartment is lovely and decorated with love. I hope to have the chance to stay here again in the near future. Highly recommended!
David has a beautiful unit, we really enjoyed our stay.We had an issue that David addressed in a timely manner with no issues to our stay. The view is just of Los Muertos Beach, so it sucks if you don't like beauty. I suggest you you book this if you are on a couples get away.Thank you David, it was awesome.
Excellent location, clean and very functional. Great maid service (Audely), front desk manager (Lupita) and maintenance guys (Diego/Angel). Restaurants everywhere. Night life. Great pool and ocean access.

A perfect location, a lovely property
This was our first time renting in the El Dorado building, but had admired its location and aesthetic for many years - we were not disappointed! A spectacular view, ample size condo for 2 people, well appointed kitchen and several charming details. We will absolutely stay here again!

Thank you so much for your lterrific review. I am pleased to know that El Dorado 402 was to your liking and I would like to personally invite you to return again on your next visit to PV and host you as one of my regular guests.
Loved our ten day stay here. The description and pictures were accurate, excellent location, fabulous view of the ocean, the king size bed was very comfortable, the check-in process was the easiest I've experienced, and the owner was responsive and extremely helpful with recommendations on restaurants and services in the area. I highly recommend this rental.
Everything was great at this unit. Pictures are accurate but don’t do justice to the view and the brightness of the living area. The bed was very comfortable and the location is perfect. No complaints whatsoever!
David’s condo was amazing with warm authentic Mexican decor and stunning sunset views. You couldn’t ask for a better location in the Romantico Zone and we were never more than a 15 min walk to wherever we needed to be.
David was very prompt in his communication before our arrival and sent an extensive list of recommendations. The front desk staff was extremely helpful and made our stay very pleasant.

Perfect location and wonderful stay.
My stay was wonderful. Close to everything and the sound of the ocean lulled me to sleep and greeted me in the morning. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. I only wish my stay was longer and pets were allowed. If so, I would rent for much longer and bring my dog. Thanks so much David!

Isn’t is amazing about the waves, always in the background? It’d like a sleep machine. Dogs under 30 lbs are allowed only by owners. Thanks so much for Your comments.
David’s please has been recommended to me by a close friend who had stayed at Fantastico and I must say it was Indeed a wonderful apartment filled with rustic, and well appointed artworks and craft and the location, and beach access is unbeatable. I would recommend and return in a heart beat
My third time to stay here. I discovered David's place and I always check first to see if its available before booking a trip to Vallarta. It has everything I look for in a place to stay (amazing view, great location, restaurants everywhere, shopping and you can walk right out to the beach). Also special thanks to David, incredibly helpful working with me after I had to move my vacation. Highly recommend!
An Absolutely Wonderful Stay In PVR Zona Romantica
Without a doubt, the El Dorado is THE perfect location when staying in Zona Romantica - close to the beach, the best restaurants, and nightlife. This is an amazing condo with $1B views of the beach and Banderas Bay. The accommodations are so comfortable, and the staff is amazing and eager to help with anything you may need. Booking the unit with David was so easy, and communications were seamless. I would absolutely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable place to stay in the best part of town.

That is such a lovely review. We enjoyed having you as our guests and thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Please come back soon. 🌴
The place was just as advertised. The location (Romantic Zone) was perfect for us with beach, shops, and restaurants very close and walkable. The unit is a perfect size for a couple. The bathroom set up is especially cool, as you can take a shower (or bath) and look out to the bay. The pool was in the process of being remodeled but that didn't matter to us, as if we wanted to lounge by a pool, we would have stayed home. We can't wait to go back and stay here.
The property was as advertised and represented good value for money considering the cost of comparable apartments in the area. Whilst the Apartment Complex is a little dated, David’s condo was in excellent condition and had a great outlook out into the bay. Communication with David was great and he left us with some fantastic recommendations. The security in the building was excellent and we enjoyed staying in this neighbourhood. We recommend this condo to anyone wanting a reasonably priced condo with views across the bay and close to all bars, shops and restaurants

A Wonderful Home
I really enjoyed my stay at David's condo. It was exactly as pictured -- although the photos do fall short of capturing the experience of being in this wonderful space. My favorite things to so were to watch the sunset to the sound of the ocean waves with a drink in my hand and having a leisurely breakfast in the morning watching the life on the beach down below. What made everything so nice was how quiet and peaceful it was -- even though you are steps away from the beach with all the restaurants and bars right there. The condo is very tastefully furnished and the fact that there is daily housekeeping provided is an added plus. I look forward to returning!

About the host
Hosted by David Cannon
on vacation in PV in 1999, I decided to look at real estate on the last day of my visit. When the agent showed me this unit I couldn't believe the location and spectacular view in the historic Condominios El Dorado could be mine. I took out an equity line on my house in San Francisco a few weeks later after viewing every other property for sale in the Romantic Zone. I gutted the interior and created a contemporary and eclectic vision; a playful blend of my favorite images using local materials and furnishings. As an interior designer this is my Vallarta vanity project and a very personal intimate statement. I usually visit 3 or 4 times a year, and enjoy my home on the most beautiful beach in Puerto Vallarta. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
This is a great location right above Los Muertos Beach, centrally located to the nightlife, restaurants, and beach life that most people associate with Puerto Vallarta. Also, it is a sentimental favorite, because I used to hang out at the old El Dorado Restaurant when I first started visited Vallarta 1976. The town has changed a lot in the 35 years since my first visit, but I never get tired of the beaches, the sunsets, the people, and the wonderful climate. Welcome to my home in paradise.
