Stunning Front Line Apartment No 2, Sleeps 6 (3 Bedrooms)


The apartments No2, 40, and 56 are situated in the well respected Porto Antigo 2 complex. Beach front. The well tended gardens are ablaze with colour from the abundance of tropical plants that surround the central swimming pool, and this opens onto the white sands of Santa Maria Beach. The beach is a mecca for windsurfing and kitesurfing, fishing, scuba diving and swimming. Turtles return year after year to lay eggs in the sands of Sal island, and a fantastic conservation programme is in operation. During the nesting season you can arrange to go on night patrol, and even see baby turtles hatch and return to the sea. Boat trips can be organised from the pier to go fishing or sailing. Whales and dolphins frequent the waters of Sal, and are regularly seen. The fishing trips can be game fishing, or a few hours in a local wooden boat. Scuba diving can be booked from several outlets on the beach, and depart from the local pier. Explore the island on quads or electric bike hire.
Or if you just want to chill, free sunbeds are available around the pool.

Amazing place to stay!

Property is better than the photos, such a lovely spot nestled between pool and beach. Hosts very responsive and helpful. 24 hour site security patrols, pool area clean and whole complex very well maintained with pretty gardens. Very well equipped apartment, all you need for your stay. Little gem in Sal, we will definitely return

The apartment was fantastically situated in beautiful Porto Antigo 2, with stunning views of the beach and pool, very well equipped with most things you might need. This was our first stay in apartment 56 and our second stay in Santa Maria, and we loved it even more this time, a fantastic break from the British Winter, on a similar time zone. Now there are 2 airlines flying direct for the UK flights are a little more competitive and with a 15 minute transfer time from airport to resort it was once again perfect for us.

A true paradise in Santa Maria

apartment located in the best area of ​​santa maria, in the Porto Antigo 2. A true paradise, with a view on the sea, surrounded by palm trees. Composed by a double bedroom and a menzanine with two single beds, has 1 toilet, and kitchen and living room together. The best is the balcony with a wonderfull view, where you can make meals. The living room has ac and de rooms have fans. Is located in the center of santa maria, close to supermarkets, bakery, restaurants, banks, bars, goes everywhere by foot. Womderful pool with sea view and line beds. We met the owner Lorraine, very friendly and helpful. Helped us with everything. The negative points are that the beach in front is not the best for bathing, there are many rocks, but walking a few meters has a wonderful beach. The mattresses in the beds are not very comfortable and hear the noise of the street and the apartment from the side inside the rooms. We hope to return to santa maria and surely to this apartment

Don't miss out on this (not so little!) Gem

It was our first visit to Sal and the Cape Verde Islands yet we knew what we wanted... on the beach, independent living and large outside space, close to shops and bars/restaurants (a 3 min walk with someone who has mobility challenges) - and this lovely place exceeded expectations. Communication was great from start to finish, check-in was a breeze - Lorraine arranged a taxi to meet us at the airport and the driver, Jaime, helped us with our luggage to the door and made sure we were OK before he left. The complex has very good 24x7 patrolling security for those who are worried and all of the team were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our questions and give advice. The apartment and location itself is more stunning than the pictures. We were greeted with lovely birthday and retirement balloons, cards and presents which was a lovely surprise and a wonderful personal gesture. There's aircon in the main living area with fans in the bedrooms but with the doors open and the natural breeze flowing through, we found that just perfect for us. Even though it's close to all amenities, all we could hear was the cicadas and waves from the ocean in the evening. There's occasional entertainment from the hotel next door but that stops early in the evening and if we were at home during that time, it was good music. The pool is a great size and great for swimming as well as floating :) It's kept very clean and there's a no noise policy so also very quiet during the day. It is a deprived island, and COVID hasn't helped the situation, however although you get approached by people wanting you to go to their store, they aren't aggressive or pushy and always friendly and have a smile. For those who want a beach holiday, the beach directly outside is a bit rocky when you get into the water but not a problem if you don't have mobility issues. If you do, walk 2 mins to the right and it's perfectly sandy (beware the currents, it is the Atlantic afterall) or there's the natural harbour at Porto Antigo I which is about a 7 min walk to get to. There's plenty of other activities and places to explore which surprised us with it being such a small island, as well as a museum of the history of Sal about 5 mins walk away. Would we go back to Sal and Apartment No 2 again? In a heartbeat and we're already saving our pennies to go back to Lorraine's (not so little) gem.

Lovely apartment with even better views

We were very pleased with the apartment. The best part being the views from the balcony. A bit of advice would be to bring a pair of binoculars with you. As you can sit there with a beer or caipirinha and just watch the world go by. . . . . in close up. The actual apartment is clean and very quiet during the night with a comfortable, firm bed. The fan in the bedroom was a great help for me. All the facilities, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and a/c worked as it should. Plenty of cutlery, plates, glasses and bottle openers to hand in the kitchenette. No real negatives to say. The entrance door, pir light would be more helpful if it stayed on for more than one second. Just to find the door lock during darkness. The occasional electricity and water stoppages are just a part of life in Santa Maria. This apartment is in a perfect place if you like beaches, swimming pools, shops, restaurants, sunsets, nightlife and Palm trees. Highly recommended. If/when we come back, we will be searching out Lorraine and Andrew to rent this apartment again.

Fantastic View - Great Location with privacy

We arrived at the complex and were taken up to the apartment which is on the first floor with a balcony that overlooks the pool, beach and sea - its a fantastic view. There is a double bedroom downstairs and twin beds up on the mezzanine level. The apartment was clean and well furnished with a good sized table on the balcony for eating. its possible to talk to your holiday companions if they are lying by the pool and you are on the balcony. We found it to be very quiet and private in the apartment and so it was great to get some good rest and sleep on holiday. The complex is clean and in a great location - the beach is right in front of you and you can walk along the beach to a number of very good restaurants. We also had a massage in the hotel to the left of the apartment which was lovely. I took part in yoga on the beach on a couple of days too!. The sea was nice to swim in although you might want to take some diving shoes for walking on stones in some areas of the water. Daily we walked down to the pier to see what the fishermen had caught. All in all we had a really lovely and very relaxing holiday and will definitely go there again. I would recommend this apartment for a very good value and well located base with a fantastic view whilst still offering privacy and quiet.

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment, it was clean, well equipped (not that we cooked much as there were so many lovely restaurants to choose from) and had the most fantastic view of Santa Maria beach, wonderful for watching the world go by with a G & T. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was absolutely brilliant and very helpful in telling us the best places to eat and shop. All the helpful tips and friendly advice made our stay easier and very enjoyable. The pool was lovely and never packed and there were always loungers available, comfortable cushions for them are also in the apartment. The complex is very pretty and is in the perfect location, lovely bars/restaurants and supermarkets are an easy stroll away. It's the perfect place to relax and chill out but there are also sports such as surfing, snorkelling or diving if you want to be active.

We are Andrew and Lorraine and we have a 12 year old daughter called Poppy. We like places away from the mass tourist market. We liked the idea of an up and coming destination with year round sunshine and only 6 hours from England.
Since we have been visiting Sal we have become friends with alot of the 'Ex Pats' and locals. My daughter always plays with the local children and loves to learn how to catch fish, and play in the sea.
We have visited Santiargo, and are hoping to visit the other islands soon.
We enjoy the seafood, and our late afternoon drink in 'Q' beach bar next to the complex.

Why they chose this property

We initially bought for an investment, but just find Sal our home from home. We always look forward to returning and seeing the changes.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy being right on the beach. I love to sit on my patio and watch my daughter play on the beach in front of the apartment. We like the convenience of the location, and the peace of the complex.
