About this property

Villa Le Liscaie, private villa with pool in the Crete Seseni area. A/C & Wi-Fi!

Villa Le Liscaie is a beautiful villa in the heart of Siena hills, the perfect place if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, peace and quiet, and walks in the countryside. At the same time, you can easily reach the city center in a short time thanks to the close proximity of the highway.

The property includes olive groves and woods, whilst the villa is surrounded by a large garden with secluded corners, fully equipped for a comfortable stay. You can enjoy the shadow of the ancient oaks, unforgettable sunsets, and the beautiful views of the valley and the ancient castle of San Gimignanello.

A small pine forest shelters the villa from the sun on hot summer days, so you can enjoy the naturally cool evenings and sitting near the old cypress trees that, according to the tradition, protects the house and its inhabitants.

The property hosts a truffle garden so if you want to have a special experience, you can go in search of the precious truffle with an expert guide and his dog.

Confort, the villa and the pool: the large and comfortable two storey villa has three entrances to the garden. The ground floor consists of a living room with a fireplace, a dining room, and a bathroom with a shower and laundry facilities. The villa also features a beautiful open gallery room with large glass walls overlooking the garden; the perfect space to eat your meals and relax.

From the entrance, a staircase leads to the first floor with the bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a comfortable double sofa bed, two bathrooms with showers and the large traditional Tuscan nineteenth-century farmhouse kitchen, with the typical big fireplace and an oven to bake bread. The renovation has maintained the original structure, as evidenced by the external stone staircase that leads directly to the kitchen on the first floor.

A few meters from the house, the swimming pool opens into the olive grove, in perfect harmony with the rows of trees. The swimming pool is surrounded by a lawn with native plants and has interior lighting so you can even enjoy it under the stars.

History is not missing!

The house dates back to the 17th century. It was part of the ancient property of the Counts of Scialenga, Lords of Asciano. With a pleasant walk through the woods you arrive directly from the villa to the Romanesque church of Sant’Alberto and the tower of the XIII century mentioned by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy.

Wonderful Country Get Away
This place is amazing. The history of the house, the beautiful olive groves and ground. The very nice pool. We had a great 3 days of relaxing and did just a few short trips to checkout nearby towns.

Incredible Villa… but bring your own TP
This Tuscan villa was an incredible place to stay - so historic (parts of the building date from the 1650’s) with spectacular views, gardens, groves of olive trees, a beautiful pool, a path through the woods to a Roman hermitage, and an excellent location for exploring the surrounding area. Stunning and everything you could possibly want… except some of the basic provisions like more than one roll of TP for a 4 day stay, any hand or dish soap, or more than one garbage bag. Paolo, the property manager, and Sabrina, the owner, were truly delightful to deal with and I’d recommend the villa highly - just come prepared with your own basics.

Excellent villa with a few notable flaws
We stayed for 8 nights and used the villa as our home base to drive to other Tuscan towns. The villa is absolutely beautiful and private and is like a fortress with all of the heavy doors and locks. Although remote, we felt very safe. The pool too felt new and clean and was refreshing to spend afternoons relaxing and swimming. The villa felt very clean and had towels, sheets, and pillows provided, and necessary kitchen items. However, we did need to purchase all dish soap, hand washing soap, laundry detergent, etc, which are not provided. There is a small grocery store less than 10 minute drive away. There are 2 kitchens and it took us almost the entire trip to realize that the downstairs kitchen was probably the better kitchen to be used because it had more of the necessities. A few notable items, the WiFi was very poor. Essentially you can use WiFi in the room that the router is and sometimes with poor service in the nearby bedroom and bathroom. This is important to know for people who may need to work or are relying on WiFi instead of data while traveling. Also, there is only AC in two of the bedrooms. One bedroom has no AC, which left us in a difficult position when we were negotiating which adult would sleep where and which adult would be in a bedroom without AC. The rest of the villa has no AC, but it does stay fairly cool on very hot days. During the day, when we were at the villa, we left the windows open for the beautiful fresh air as well as beautiful views of the Tuscan hillsides. Like most of Tuscany, the windows cannot be left open at night unless you want to be eaten alive by mosquitos. There is a TV with some channels in the downstairs living area. We experienced two other issues - a gas smell in the upstairs kitchen during our stay, which made us feel very nervous and also the gate broke, so after a very rocky back exit with a rental car, Paulo put it on manual mode as a resolution, so whenever we went to and from we needed to get out of the car to open/close the gate. A minor inconvenience but something worth noting. A lot of the plugs are very old and need to be adapted to even use Italy appliances, which left us in an odd position because there was only one adapter provided, which we used to power the espresso machine. I did feel like certain things could have been communicated better, such as that the hot water heater in one of the bathrooms is on a wall switch which we did not realize until 5 days of cold showers.
