Beautiful A frame house with great views of Mt Lincoln and Mt Bross
This home is ideal for a couple willing to spend quality time in a peaceful environment. Only 12 miles south of Breckenridge, and at the same time, far enough to avoid the crowds. Situated in beautiful Placer Valley, this home is meant for those seeking beauty, peace and quiet. With so many outdoor activities to choose from, it's almost impossible to become bored. Ideal for hikers, skiers, anglers, climbers, or just those seeking to relax on the front porch and enjoy the surrounding views and abundant wildlife. Easy access from Highway 9 and into the driveway, on a 1.5 acre heavily wooded lot, but still with lots of sunshine in every room. There's a spacious living/kitchen area on the main level, with a wood burning stove to keep you warm in cool nights. Bathroom is also on main level. There's a small bedroom upstairs with magnificent views of Mt. Lincoln and Montgomery Reservoir, with a comfortable king size bed. Stairs to bedroom is steep. Not for people with knee injuries. Please, be aware that the house is above 11.000 feet elevation. Closest town is Alma, 5 miles to the south, with a bar/ restaurant, a small coffee shop, and some other small business. Fairplay is another 11 miles from Alma, with more dining and shopping opportunities. South Park City is a restored mining town in Fairplay, worth visiting, and open only in the summer. Very unique setting in the heart of the Rockies.

We stayed here for our 20th anniversary - was a perfect little hideaway from the world. Stayed 3 nights, could have made it a week or a month. Cecilia was in contact from the minute I booked to make sure we had info on the house and things to do in the area. Can't say enough about her responsiveness to our questions. Great owner!
The house was clean and accommodating - whether you want to stay in and watch a movie or get out and enjoy nature. All the small touches were there.
The views are fantastic and there is plenty to do in the area without having to drive an hour. Cecilia had plenty of options for things to do and we took her up on one of the hikes. Worth every step. This will be on our list of places to return - hopefully sooner than later!
BTW - take the advice Cecelia gave about drinking water. The height will get to you if you are coming from lower altitudes.

I was seeking solitude and a connection with nature, and a home that fit my style. That's exactly what I got here! It's a mixture of zen and southwest art in a beautiful, clean, comfortable cabin. The deck in the trees was perfect and I loved sitting out and watching the sunrise and sunset, the birds, squirrels and chipmunks. It had everything I needed and the communication with the owner was perfect. Cecilia was very attentive and wanted to make sure my stay was exactly as I hoped. She was a pleasure to rent from. I can't wait to return! Absolutely beautiful!
Cecilia's cabin is one of the nicest, most welcoming places we have ever stayed. Her description of the location and amenities was spot on, she responded quickly and thoughtfully to all communications, and she was more than helpful with questions and a couple personal issues. The cabin is beautiful, designed with skill and love, fully provisioned. We felt she had thought of everything. Her description of things to be aware of was very accurate and useful, e.g., there is a narrow stairway to the loft which must be ascended/descended carefully and the cabin is at a very high elevation (over 11,000') so make sure to acclimatize carefully. In sum, we loved this place and would definitely recommend it.
This was a wonderful place to stay. The property owner, Cecelia, was very attentive; the house is cozy, well-furnished (even provided things like Ziploc bags), and had a very comfortable bed. We were able to cook all our own meals, including grilling steaks on the gas grill outside, and had plenty of bedding (even extra pillows), hot water for showers, internet access, and TV if we wanted to relax in the evening. We enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeders (bird seed provided), and even had a little red fox run across the deck one morning. The view out the front was gorgeous. The location was perfect - close to where we planned to hike (Quandary Peak), outside of the hustle of towns, but close enough to drive to get ice cream one evening. Cecelia provided information about the local area which allowed us to visit a location where we were able to see a small herd of mountain goats. We hope to be able to stay here again in the future if we visit Colorado!
This cabin was adorable! It was everything we were hoping for - a clean, quiet, and comfortable retreat in the mountains. The views were wonderful and the birds and chipmunks were fun to watch. The only slight drawback was the lingering odor of cigarette smoke. But after you’re inside for a few minutes you don’t notice it any longer. The owner was super helpful with suggestions of things to do in the area and very friendly. Overall it was a great experience.

Thank you for your review. Smoking is not allowed in the house. Tired of picking up cigarette butts from the yard, I finally put an ashtray outside. .
Unfortunately, the previous guests had departed a few hours before your arrival,
I found cigarettes outside before your arrival, but I had not smelled it inside the house.
We set up the rules, but we can't control what people do once they checked in. Everywhere in our listing rules says that smoking is not allowed, 2 adults only no children, no pets. Still we had families that brought children, dogs, and even a pet duck with diapers.
So far, we have never kept a deposit, for any reasons, but we might have to do it in the future.

Nice home, beautiful setting
My son and I were looking for a place off the beaten trail, but still close enough to drive to Breckenridge each day. The home was a great option for us and we had a very relaxing weekend. The kitchen is well-equipped and had everything we needed. The bed was comfy. The bathroom is nicely updated. Great place to stay!

A very peaceful and zen place to get away from it all
We absolutely loved staying at this place; The views and location are absolutely surreal. It is a very very peaceful place to stay in, good for meditation or writing.
The Cabin is ideal for two people, and not very far from other towns. Cecilia was very nice!!! We were provided detailed instructions and suggestions of locality. We got snowed in and the host offered us a free extra night stay!!! Yay, Thank You Cecilia!!!
I would highly recommend staying here any season!!! Will be returning here when in Colorado.

Even better than we hoped for
We were so delighted by Cecelia's home that I am not even certain where to start. We felt like we were staying in the home of dear friends who had generously allowed us to use it while they were away. The home itself has everything needed for two people to live comfortably: a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable king bed, and a bathroom with Zen touches that make it a sanctuary. The artwork around the house adds to the Zen vibe (lots of folk art - Buddhas and Kokopellis and African masks - which clearly have been carefully, lovingly acquired over a lifetime). Throw in the wildlife and the night skies and the quiet ...we so enjoyed the setting that we were not bothered a lick by the minimal TV service or sluggish internet. Unplug and relax! The setting is lovely - the view of Mt Lincoln off the deck looks different every ten minutes - you may just want to stay at the house all day! But don't. Take Cecelia's advice on local hikes and go enjoy this beautiful area.

Relaxing retreat surpassed our expectations!
We had a great visit in Cecilia's beautiful home. There were lots of thoughtful personal touches and decor that made the place feel loved and warm. Cecilia was very responsive and everything was perfect. It is important that you are cognizant of the high altitude and plan accordingly and make sure you are aware that the only bedroom is only accessible by some fairly steep stairs.

Thank you, Ruth for your review. We're happy you had a great time while staying in our home.
Yes, the inside stairs are pretty steep, and we have posted everywhere in VRBO, and they are the main reason we don't rent it for children. There's a small second bedroom, which we lock, not only to storage personal belongings, but mainly, to avoid the tempattion.

Perfect get away in the Rockies
You can't ask for a nicer place to stay for 2 !
Everything you could need is there, just bring food and wine and enjoy. Very comfortable and inviting décor, we love the southwest theme.
Be prepared as the home is at 11,000 feet. If you haven't been at high altitudes before, do your homework and be prepared. Drink the water, nothing better then well water!
Plenty to do in the area even in the off season. Sitting on the deck the final day in the sun with the birds and critters, perfect !
We'll be back!

Amazing escape
This was the perfect long weekend get away. Beautiful views, amazing decor & house plants, comfortable bed and living space, fully equipped kitchen, perfectly clean on arrival. Great location- far enough away to recharge but close enough to to go into Breckenridge for a bite to eat. The drive between is beautiful and mostly highway so not too bad even when it snowed for the entire day. We stayed beginning of March to ski and would love to come back in the summer/fall to hike Hoosier Pass. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would whole heartedly recommend.

Great Clean Property
The hosts exhibited great communication. While the views from the living room, bedroom and porch are partially obstructed by trees and powerlines, there is a good view from the driveway. In addition the house is very close to great hiking trails, so overall I am satisfied with the location. The house was very clean, neat and has all standard amenities one would need and more. The bed was soft and very comfortable. There is a lot of carefully chosen Native American and Buddhist inspired decor. There is a large skylight in the bedroom, which is great for those who like to wake up with the sun, maybe not as great if you like to sleep in and are sensitive to light. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at this property.

The perfect get away for privacy and beautiful Breckenridge in close proximity
Beautiful, private and cozy. We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. We had everything we needed, just like a hotel. Waking up to the beautiful mountain views was breath taking. We were even able to drink the ice cold water from the tap due to the well on site. There is nothing I would have changed. Cecilia was very helpful with giving ideas for activities and was always available for any questions we had. We would love to visit this home again!

Cozy, great location for hiking
Overal, the cabin was very clean, comfortable and very well stocked for a couple . There are enough toiletries to last a few day stay! The bathroom looks like a mini spa, it's so nicely decorated. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils and basics, like spices, pots and pans. There is a small grill on the deck conveniently outside of the kitchen. The whole cabin has such a unique decor, the pictures don't do it justice. There are cute little details like statues, pictures, and other decorative touches everywhere you look, even in the plant pots! It has very zen vibe. The views from the cabin are awesome and we could not get enough of all the birds and chipmunks that would frequent the cabin at all times of the day. And the distance to all the hiking, towns, Hoosier Pass and the Montgomery Reservoir is unbeatable. We hiked the Northstar and Crystal Lake Trail, which was amazing and so close! Cecilia sent information about the cabin and area ahead of time, which made it easier to plan what to expect. She was very accomodating and easily accessible if anything was needed. We would definitely stay there again in the future.

Lovely, cozy cabin
My husband and I very much enjoyed our five night stay. It was just what we were looking for: peaceful setting, beautifully decorated, everything provided for with toiletries and kitchen necessities. About the host

Why they chose this property
Still close to town, but in a more peaceful and quiet area. No noise from the street or upstairs condos.
What makes this property unique
Our idea of renting our home is addressed to a couple seeking a private, romantic getaway in a peaceful environment. There's plenty of room to accommodate more guests, but it has not been our goal. We want our guests feel comfortable with the given space. There's abundant wildlife in the valley and in the yard. Deer, squirrels, chipmunks, pine martens, ermines, many different kind of birds, and, even moose and bears. I find it priceless and would love to host somebody that would share this same interest.
