Comfortable cottage, well equipped. All in all a pleasant stay, great pub nearby and plenty to do. Dunster just a 10 min drive away. Spiral staircase could be a problem for some, as narrow and steep. Upstairs bedroom en-suite very spacious, but downstairs a wee bit tight for space, especially with a largish dog! Outside table and chairs away from cottage, in fact outside another cottage, so quite far to carry drinks etc, so we didn’t use it. Would however recommend this cottage for a short stay, but would not be ideal in the summer months if outside dining space is important.

Hi Meira,
We are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our cottage.
Thanks for he feedback which is very useful, particularly the comments about a large dog. We will revise our profile description.

Not very impressed with accommodation very noisy not really very private. A pain having to walk to the garden which is very over grown. and not always a parking space available on the road by the green. This needs to be explained in the details of the property. The door in the ally way to the garden is very noisy and was used the one evening 20 times while we sat and had our tea. A Range Rover parks right under the bedroom window and in front of the lounge window and the gentleman goes to work at 7.00 in the morning so no chance of a lie in.

It’s unfortunate that the cottage didn’t suit your particular needs. The cottage is part of a thriving village and is not on a holiday complex. This means, inevitably, that the local people will be going about their everyday lives, including perhaps having to leave early for work. For most guests, being part of a real village enhances their holiday experience (please see previous reviews) as they genuinely enjoy mingling with the villagers who are friendly and welcoming.
The garden, which is tended to by a professional gardener, is a traditional cottage garden with carefully chosen plants that encourage wildlife and biodiversity. As such, they are naturally of varying heights and not uniformed in shape or structure. However, we do need, as you say, to add that the garden is approximately 35 ft from the cottage, but easily accessed at the rear.
We welcome constructive comments as it helps us to make things the best it can be for guests, and gives us suggestions that we can act upon. Usually, any criticisms are outweighed by positive comments (as reflected in our consistent scores of 5 and the occasional 4). It is clear from your particular comments that the cottage was not right for you, and that’s why it’s so important to make sure that you read the information carefully before booking.
The cottage is very small but it has everything you need.
Bed very comfortable as was the settee.
Shame the pub didn’t do food. The little shop was interesting and friendly. Suggest you take your own milk, tea coffee etc just in case it is shut on your arrival.
The neighbours are friendly but there is a lot of too ing and fro ing around the back past the kitchen window.
Little garden in very pretty and a perfect spot for your morning coffee.
Ich war rundum zufrieden. Toller Kontakt mit Linda und Martin. Sehr unkompliziert.

Enjoyed staying at Timberscombe. Property small but has everything you need and in a great location with beautiful walks close by and a nice pub around the corner.
Property had all essentials, well equipped. But would have liked freezer section in fridge. Nice bathroom and good supply of hot water.
Very quiet considering proximity of neighbours who were all pleasant and friendly. Only able to stay a couple of days but good position for trips out.
Clean and compact, with a wonderful little garden area, perfect for alfresco breakfast. Friendly neighbours and so peaceful. Short drive to beaches and places of interest. Would book again.
We had a lovely stay in this cute cottage, exactly as described and very clean. The cottage had everything we needed for a week or more away. Minehead had three major supermarkets so all very easy for the initial food shop. We stored our bikes in the garden, to which we enjoyed sitting in to read, with a glass of wine. The cottage is in easy reach of Dunster, we cycled through a few times as well as enjoying a cream tea, and a sit in the beautiful garden's of the Luttrell Arms hotel for a refreshing beer. We drove to Lynton and Lynmouth what a spectacular drive up and over Exmoor, and do visit valley of the rocks 10 min walk from Lynton. The lion inn which yes is two minutes walk away was such a lovely welcoming pub, we ate there on three occasions all excellent. My wife and I felt very welcomed by the locals and their dogs, and our immediate neighbours all lovely. We hope to perhaps visit again in the future.

Hi Sarah and Fiona,
Glad to hear that you had such an enjoyable, relaxing break. Hope to see you again

Lovely cosy modern cottage which was centrally located for some major sights and great walking routes. Neighbours were lovely and the local pub, the Lion very welcoming and great food. Only criticism I have is that no WiFi is really inconvenient especially when your planning your day out and routes...get the WiFi sorted and I will definitely be back!

This was a great break for 3 days, the cottage was in a fab location which made it really easy to get around Exmoor.
The recommendations in the cottage folder were great too, we loved visiting Dunkery Beacon, Dunster and Porlock.
We were really impressed with our stay. Communication with/from hosts was excellent from booking and throughout our stay. The Cottage was exactly as pictured and described. The Cottage was really clean and had a homely feel. We even had a welcome card and gift which was a lovely touch.
The village was a tiny place with only a post office but we were made aware of that in the property description so as we were staying self catering, took all our food shopping with us. The closest supermarkets were only a 10 minute drive away anyway. There is also a pub in the village that does amazing food. The surroundings had lovely scenic walks. The only thing I would point out was that the property description said the beach was 5km away but it was actually 5 miles so this wasn't walkable. We took our bikes with us anyway and the ride was pretty painless. There is a bus in to Minehead but be aware they are not every hour.
There was a book in the cottage with lots of suggestions of walks/rides and places to visit which was great.
We had a lovely stay and would definitely return again!!
