No Better View of the Olympics (near Alderbrook Resort)
The property has an incredible view from the deck with beach access (you can pick oysters). There is also a great secluded area for camping and a fire pit (within season). There is a new full size bed in the bedroom and a futon that sleeps 2 in the living room. I also have a new blow up mattress for additional guest and lots of bedding. My place is close to In walking distance to Robin Hood Restaurant & Pub, Alderbrook Restaurant Resort and Hiking path, The Deli, Cameo Boutique and a gas station convenience store. A short 2 mile drive takes you to golf course or Union with Boat Launch and Marina, Union City Market (art & specialty foods), Union Country Store (specialty foods) and Dos Margaritas Restaurant and bar.

We had booked Genes cabin for a birthday weekend. The cabin has an awesome view is well stocked with dishes and is very clean. Really enjoyed meeting Gene owner and enjoyed our stay there very much. Even though there was a mix-up with our booking, and the cabin was overbooked. Jean went out of his way to upgrade us to a friend's cabin right on the water. I highly recommend this rental! And Gene the owner is an awesome guy!
Snug cabin with panoramic view of Hood Canal enjoyed from living area or roomy deck. Owner directed us to what was open in off-season. Kitchen supplies adequate. Serene view of Olympic Mtns through moving fog. Easy access to Lake Cushman and southern end of national park.
Beautiful view, Easy communication, Facility needs some TLC
The view was outstanding and the kitchen had what we needed for meal prep. We were so fortunate to have a beautiful day!Thr facility has seen better days and could use some maintenance. ie.burned out kitchen light bulb, unattached drain cover in shower, inefficient toilet and no spare toilet paper, food left in cabinet from previous tenant and the couches were uncomfortable. The place and setting are really worth some TLC - come for a night and see for yourself light bulb
Gene's little house is not new and modern. Since we don't like new and modern, it was perfect for us. A house with "soul". Pretty much everything you'd need is there. The bed is super comfortable! And Gene is super responsive, plus interesting to talk with.
This is a good find!
Clean, comfortable, cozy and quiet. Bigger than it looks in pictures. Perfect for our family of four (our kids are teenagers). View so good you’ll wonder what you did to deserve it. Kids loved catching crabs and gathering oysters. The Hood Canal is a short walk downhill from the cabin. Host Gene was fantastic. Knowledgeable about the area with excellent tips on how to pick and cook oysters and where to hike without crowds (Staircase trail in Hoodsport - about 45 minutes away). A curious seal hung around us all day on the canal. Stayed a good distance away and would pop their head up every half hour or so. Very cute. Saw one harmless jelly fish. Watching the tides go out and come back in was amazing for us Michiganders. From Union we explored Ruby Beach and also drove to Mount St. Helens. Perfect!
Very Comfortable with a well appointed Kitchen. Excellent view of Hood Canal and occasional glimpses of mountains through the fog and clouds. Would recommend visiting the Union Visitor Center for good information about the sites and activities in the area. We enjoyed a few hikes to waterfalls and dinner of Oysters and Dungenese crabs. Preparing meals was easy in the spacious and well appointed kitchen. Perhaps the only drawback was the motorcycles on the road below the cabin and canal. I would recommend this place as a nice romantic getaway for a couple.
We were only able to stay one night. The cabin is right across the road from the lake. It has a fantastic view to wake up to and have a cup of coffee on the balcony. The cabin was tidy. The bathroom is on the other side of the cabin from the bedroom, but it's a small cabin, so not a big deal unless you have a couple of night runs. The bed was adiquit, a little on the soft side. The owner, Gene was very nice and gave us a few suggestions for hiking. We drove to the Staircase Trail in Olympic Nat'l Park. It was a beautiful rainforest hike. Not much of an elevation change so easy for most. The road getting back there is a bit bumpy, so drive slowly once you hit the gravel road. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Resort , just up the road. Food, drinks, service and view were all great! There's a trail in the resort that is every bite as nice as the first trail. A little more elevation change, but nothing too extreme. I would go back to the cabin. It's quint and in a good location if you want to explore that section of Olympic NP. The lake would also be fun to spend some time. There were paddle boarders and kyakers in it.
The cabin was comfortable and great views. We enjoyed staying in Union and ate at the local places, which were very good. Tides were perfect for picking up some oysters on the private beach and very tasty and abundant. The bed is very comfortable and nice sheets. The TV was hard to figure out and no info on how to work the 2 controls. luggage racks would be nice to have also. We would stay here again.
Cute property! The best part was sitting in the reclining chairs at night looking out over the water, and drinking coffee out there in the morning watching the squirrels and deer play. So peaceful.
Came for my niece’s wedding at Alderbrook Resort. It was the perfect location, only 3 minutes drive to the resort (and a lot more affordable!). Beautiful view, clean house, everything you would need. Very cozy and quiet. Highly recommend!
