About this property
Tuscan house with big patio, private pool, garden, wheelchair- and pet-friendly
This is our family vacation home since generations, we refurbished and modernized it in 2015 for ourselves and guests who we like to share it with. It´s strongest point is the covered Loggia with a wonderful view with any kind of weather over the valley; the garden and the infinity pool with the panoramic view. We added this year a carport for three cars with photovoltaic panels and a Charging option for electric vehicles – billed according to consumption (0,40 €/kWh) and now ALL bed rooms have air condition. I was on wheelchair myself many times for many years and wanted something nice also for persons with different abilities... We wish, more persons who can not find accommodation for themselves or parents or relatives with walking difficulties or steps would discover our lovely suite made for them. On demand I will send a little film for wheelchair users. In 2023 we had a Hurricane and lost 12 trees and the romantic gate and antique wall, we have replanted trees and fruit trees, bushes and made it more sustainable with a photovoltaic carport and a charging station for electric automobiles with the advantage of parking in the shadow now. Another plus we have installed is an Implant against the Mosquitos which is healthier then the smoky alternatives. The huge covered Veranda allows you to stay outside in nearly every weather, even in Italian winters we enjoy the air, the view over the valley and into the garden. Smokers have several places to go and sit to enjoy their cigars or cigarettes. Two covered terraces, a Hollywood swing, at the pool or at the stone table. The garden has an irrigation system and a mower robot, which usually amuses guests and their dogs. Our dog passed sadly away but we invite also guests to bring along their well behaved dog. Groceries are close by and Olive oil and Wine are available within walking distance. The pool is 5 x 10 m and has comfortable stairs to get into the water, our elderly parents go in there without problems and it makes me happy to see, they can use it and enjoy it. For the youngest ones is a high chair and a travel cot available. "Olive Wood" has been our family - holiday home for more than 30 years, but the maintenance is updated because it is a pleasure to take care of a little paradise on earth. Nine years ago we restored it and made it accessible for wheelchair users. It is an independent house which can accommodate up to 6 persons, ideal for families.
It is an independent house which consists of one wheelchair accessible suite with bathroom and kitchenette and one main house directly connected with the kitchen but one can close the door. The two parts are linked by an indoor 5-steps stair or by an outdoor wheelchair path. The wheelchair-accessible suite is 35 square meters, has a bathroom with large, comfortable shower with seat and wc, a double bedroom and a small living room with TV, fridge, coffee machine, and a wheel-in kitchenette for wheelchair-bound guests, a chaise longue. Outside a furnished terrace with pergola where you can enjoy your early breakfast independently from the “long-sleepers” of the main apartment. The beautiful terracotta wheelchair path leads to the large loggia with fireplace; that is the place where you will mostly be, you'll see: it serves as living and dining room with every kind of weather. One can even grill when it rains because there's plenty of space under the high roof. From the loggia you enter the main apartment: on the ground floor there's a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher), a large living room, a bathroom, a double bedroom and on the first floor the twin bed room attic for children . The attic is also equipped with a bathroom-laundry room.
The house is ideal for families with children, elderly persons or disabled people and even for families who want to bring their dog in vacations: the entire garden is fully fenced. The house is very comfortable and it has a certain personality, because it's really like a second home to us: it has the touch of our taste and our family history. Being at the border of an antique village which dates back to the year 1200 makes this a place for a true authentic experience in your holidays.
Our house welcomes you and your family or friends in Oliveto with a huge garden, private parking and your own private infinity-pool, with a panoramic view over the Val di Chiana valley. The house is in beautiful countryside and superbly located for art and culture-trips. The historic towns and villages of Tuscany and Umbria are just a drive away: Arezzo is just 20 minutes far, Florence is about 1 hour away, Siena and Cortona about 50 minutes, whilst Perugia and Assisi are within easy reach. Our aim is that everybody feels free and independent to move around in this charming place. The location is right on the border of a very small borgo (village) called “Oliveto”, that is why we called the house “Olive-wood”: it sounds like Hollywood, though it looks NOTHING like Hollywood; but when we lie on the sun beds at night, watching the starry sky and counting the shooting stars that pass over our heads, we just feel as great.
The rich framework of hills, cultivated land and small patches of wood hosts a diversity of birds. Short-toed Eagle is notable among the raptors, while migrant warblers feed on fig trees and berries in the garden of the house. Hoopoe is common in spring and summer and visits regularly the garden, while Zitting Cisticola zips in and out from the tall grass of the fields. White wagtails dance around the infinity pool almost every day.
To make it short:
6 sleeps plus 1 Cot (baby bed) 3 bed rooms (all beds are 2 m long) 3 baths 1 laundry (within one of the three bathrooms) Huge garden Own private pool (NOT shared) (5 x 10 m, depth 1.50 m) plus sun-terrace Fence all around the property Wi-Fi free (Please note that in 2014 British television companies stopped broadcasting to Europe. Links may be available via the wi-fi) Floor heating in the baths and in the wheelchair accessible part Air condition in two bed rooms (wheelchair friendly suite and attic) Satellite TV Carport Sustainable Photovoltaic System for Electricity Charging station for electric cars

Dear Gin, thank you for taking the time to write about your experience in Oliveto. We have to thank you that you left the house in order and that you enjoyed it so much.
Hope to see you again. Kind regards Claudia
Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Such a wonderful balance of being close to Florence for a day trip while being in a beautiful and peaceful setting to end your day. We even spent full days at the pool and enjoying the home and property. We enjoyed most of our meals outside and took the owners recommendation of a cooking class in Cortona which was fantastic for our entire family. Highly recommend!!

If you are the type that likes quiet, nature, outdoors and beautiful scenery this is the place for you. It has everything needed to spend a great week in the Italian countryside. With access to multiples towns and major attractions in Tuscany. The house has everything needed for a more than comfortable stay. Also the garden is exquisite and there is also a beautiful pool. The owners are very nice and communication with them is easy. You will not regret it.

Dear Olivier, thank you for your kind review. It was a pleasure for us to meet you and I would wish with all my heart that you could come back or make still other lovely trips with your wonderful wife and your great dog! Claudia
We had a wonderful stay at Olivewood. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The house was equipped with everything we needed for our stay and Claudia was very responsive and pleasant to work with. We spent most of our time in the outside loggia, cappuccinos in the morning and local wines we picked up in the evenings. The location provided us an opportunity to experience the Tuscan countryside away from the crowds. You can reach Florence and Siena within 1 1/2 hours, but be sure to check out some of the smaller locations close by. We would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return someday.

Incredible stay - can't recommend enough!
We absolutely loved our time at Claudia's place! The house is beautiful inside, the grounds are immaculate and most importantly the view is stunning. The location was perfect for us and we managed several day trips to Florence and smaller towns and villages. We travelled with our 9 month old baby and Claudia couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you so much - we will definitely be back!

Dear Claudia,
thank you for taking the time for a review, which is not so easy with 9 month old George, whom we saw in films on your fathers mobile phone. Too sweet.
We hope to have you back one day and we are happy you had a good time, thank you for having left the house in order and it was so nice to meet your parents.
Kind regards
Claudia
It was amazing staying in this wonderful house. Everything was so fine - the house, the pool, the bedrooms and the lovely logia and garden.
Claudia was very helpful and stayed even though we arrived late

Beautiful rural setting with easy drive to main attractions
Lovely peaceful villa which could very comfortably accommodate six. Has a lot of character with great outdoor living area and beautiful pool. Perfect for a rural Tuscan escape but with the option to spend some days exploring Tuscany’s many delights (Florence and Siena both within an hour’s drive along easy roads). Claudia was the most welcoming host; we really enjoyed meeting her and her family when we checked in, and she kept in touch by WhatsApp throughout our stay to ensure everything was ok (which, of course, it was).

Hope to see you another time again.

My family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. The home is perfectly situated between Rome and Florence. The owners met us at the home upon our arrival and took the time to show us where everything was located. The house is immaculate and has all the essentials you need for your trip. Claudia was extremely responsive and communicated clearly with us whenever needs arouse. The outdoor area is incredible and our kids loved playing in this huge yard. Dinners outdoors in the loggia are memories that will last a lifetime. You will need a car to get around and explore the wonderful hill towns in Tuscany.

Spectacular property, beautiful views, incredible hosting - just the perfect holiday!!
The location, the views and the villa itself are all picture perfect! Everything about this villa is so thoughtfully and tastefully put together such that all age groups can enjoy it. Our dog loved the large gardens (and we loved the fact that they were fenced)! And there is much to be said about our host, Claudia, who went out of her way to make sure we had an amazing time. From providing countless tips to personally helping with logistics, we couldn’t have asked for a better host! We’re definitely going back!!

Dear Kamya,
thank you for taking the time to review our home. It was so nice to get to know you and your family and their enthusiasm for little things like the milk foamer! We were so relieved that your mum found her wedding ring in the shopping bag. So we are really looking forward to have you back again and see you dog playing with ours!
Kind regards
Claudia
The property is amazing. The outdoor space is wonderfully maintained and curated. Beautiful flowers, trees, and landscaping along with the outdoor amenities. The pool area is wonderful and the outdoor loggia is a beautiful spacel. We ate most meals in the Loggia. The kitchen has everything you need. My whole family would not think twice about visiting again. The host is wonderful to work with, great communication and very inviting. Thank you for sharing your family property with us!

Dear Patrick, thank you for taking time for a good review, but even more for living our home as if it was yours with all the attention to the small things, houserules and in particularly waste management, which we know is a bit complicated. We are sure 100 % that we would always want guests like you and your well educated children. Hopefully you or them or all of you will be back one day. Kind regards Claudia
Sometimes you come across reviews which say “pictures don’t give justice” - this is exactly the case here. The villa, the view… it’s impossible to capture all this in a photograph. It’s simply breathtaking. We had a great time here. The hosts are wonderful and welcoming, the place is outstanding and it’s also a great base to explore Tuscany. We are looking forward to come back someday in the future.

Dear Mr. Wojciech, thank you so much for your kind review and we are happy you did enjoy our home, even if it was very early in the season and the water was still cold. Thank you also for being so respectful and brought protection for the furniture for your dogs. You really left it as you found it. Amazing guest!! Kind regards Claudia Pirazzi
Perfect house with an outstanding view and ideal for outdoor living. Serene surroundings close to the ancient village of Oliveto. Leave the hustle and bustle of Tuskany‘s main attractions, but be 60 minutes from most of them (Florence, Siena to name a few). Beautiful bathrooms, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen. This is a 100 % recommendation. We will be back in 2025! Compliments to Claudia and her husband for being such great hosts.

The view is like a Tuscan painting and the pool is like a DREAM!!! Claudia keeps the home so beautifully and it is fitting with every modern convenience! Privacy and quiet area located in a tiny Tuscan village. A wonderful town down the hill with AMAZING food and gelato! We found the yard to be priceless with our 3 yo boy. This Oliveto property was the PERFECT choice for our week long stay in the Tuscany region. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and patio were an amazing home-base for us to go exploring in various towns all conveniently just a short drive away. The property is even better in person than the amazing pictures on the listing. And the only thing better was the host! Claudia gave us all the information we needed, was incredibly polite, and went extremely out of her way to assist us when we had airline delays during our flight into Italy. We HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable property with amazing views in Tuscany.
We could not be more pleased with our stay in Oliveto. Away from the bustling cities, yet only a 20 minute drive to Arezzo where you can quickly jump on a fast train to Rome, Florence, etc. The home is equipped with anything you might need - there’s even a drip coffee maker! While we did not require the handicapped accessible features of the home, we admired and appreciated their availability. We took nightly use of the outdoor living space - we will never forget sitting by the fireplace and looking out over the valley towards Monte San Savino! The owners put together a binder (we called it our bible) full of information about the area, including restaurants and groceries - even the history of the village. They truly thought of everything. And exceptionally communicative for all of the “extra questions” we threw their way.
We hope to return soon with more of our family to share in the experience of staying at “Olive Wood”.
If you want the perfect place to stay in Tuscany, this is it. First, the hosts are so nice and accommodating it made our vacation all the more special. The home is absolutely beautiful both inside and outside. You many find yourself standing in the yard in a complete daze as you stare at the view. It has to be seen to understand the beauty. Day trips are an ease, and you must visit Arezzo, Siena and Florence just to name a few. Make sure and ask about Giacomo Piccardi and reserve him for a private tour of Florence. His understanding of the city’s architecture made the it come alive. Also, don’t forget to have Mrs. Franco come and cook you an authentic Tuscan meal. It will be a memory you will never forget. I can still taste her bruschetta, the best I have ever had. Everything about our trip was centered on the comfort and beauty of this home. We are already planning another visit where we just sit with a glass of wine and never move.

Dear James, thank you very much for this lovely and authentic review. We appreciated your way of enjoying every detail of your stay and particularily of what we could do to make it a wonderful experience. Have a great time and we hope to have you back one day! Warm regards Claudia
We thoroughly enjoyed our (almost) 2-week stay at this house, conveniently located in a Tuscany hill town.
If you're looking for a place to escape the hustle of the larger Tuscan cities such as Florence or Siena, this is your spot. Day-tripping by train or car will get you to these cities in about an hour.
We much preferred to settle into the local area and explore. A morning jaunt to a farmers' market and breakfast on the patio was one of our favorite ways to start the day. We found so many delicious local restaurants that one could compare to fine dining in the US.
The patio, beautifully landscaped yard and inviting pool encouraged us to stay put and unwind. The vista looking over the valley was fabulous. Not a lot of noise either since neighbors were few.
The house is well-appointed with everything you would need at home. Little details such as extra blankets, fine bathroom toiletries, firewood for the outside fireplace, kitchen spices/coffee and A/C - when you're settling in for a while, these items matter. Good shower pressure, comfortable beds and a washing machine are a plus.
The hosts were very responsive after our booking, before we arrived and during our stay. They have definitely created a beautiful home for a perfect Tuscan escape.

About the host
Hosted by Claudia
We spend our summers here since more than 30 years. In 2015 we have it restored and refurbished for us and I was in a wheelchair and we have a dog. So we wanted to give other wheelchair users the possibility to share this marvellous place and also guests who want to bring their dog. We have put love and effort in it and are still doing it to share it with paying guests occasionally because another thing we like to do is about hospitality.
Why they chose this property
It is from our family since generations, has a great view, is connected to the little medieval village, central to all Sightseeing locations in Tuscany and simply relaxing and recharging.
What makes this property unique
The view, the pool with garden and swing, the covered pation which allows you to sit outside even when it rains. It is like a big out door living room. The pingpong table has it´s own space, the parking is inside the property which is fully fenced. It is connected to the village to make you feel you are not alone, but you have your privacy.
